I liked the girl on the train. Thought it was well written especially since the main character was (view spoiler) Takes real skill to write that sort of thing. And I thought the story wrapped up nicely.

I always thought I would like to be able to hear people's thoughts so I know what they REALLY think about me. I've decided that I'm happy to be ignorant to their true thoughts and take others at face value. I'm enjoying the story but almost put it down after a rather unsettling rant about God and Jesus. I rushed through it and decided to stick it out. I haven't seen the movie and not sure I want to. I think I'll just settle with the story as is. With 20 pages left and the story being in such a dark place, I may have to read a RomCom next.

MrBooks-The first book was exciting enough to make me immediately start the 2nd one. I'll definitely go for the next one bu..."

So the surf is up in the trench and the Whale was le Miserable after leaving the dead zone. Just watch out for the random books the might creep in. You might get the stand, it and a death cure to give you a fever code until you become a divergent mocking jay in the school of peculiar children.

That was a lot of book references.

Go for it. I didn't see the movie but I've heard it was pretty bad. The audiobook, on the other hand, is really great.

I for one cannot listen to music and read because I will have the lyrics of said song playing in my head as I read.
That said, I am reading Iain Reid’s Foe at the moment and thought that Days of the New, Face of the Earth would be a good single for this particular novel. I find I need close to silence in order to read. Though since having twin girls I am capable of reading with some noise, but if it’s familiar like a song. I’d be totally distracted.

I think that's true for writing as well. although I'm pretty sure King plays heavy metal when he writes.

Glen it doesn't matter to me a whit the noise level. I spent 20 years in the military I got use to reading in all noise levels. and all situations. No matter where I go I always have at least one book with me. One never knows when they will have a spare hour or two.

Wow. I try to shut out all external sounds. I'll even put on noise-canceling headphones. I don't want the mood of the music to conflict with the mood of the material I'm reading.

That one sounds pretty good!

I just saw this. You are quite brave to tackle Les Mis AND Moby Dick. Both, I really loved; but they take a lot out of you. Good luck!!

Still reading

I read HG years ago and DEVOURED it!
Wait, didn't you already read Firestarter? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.....Or do you mean re-read? :-)

Nick I finished that last month. I am now reading Nevernight and will be starting firestarter soon oh and strange weather.

Yes, I'm re-reading Firestarter. I've already read all of King's novels... many several times, some lots of times. Not all the short stories though, that's a tall order.

One of my favorite YA series.

My writing partner and I are trying to turn one of our books into YA but we just can't do it. Our characters just get too mature too fast. There are lots of things you can and can't do in the genre. Maybe we'll have to start from scratch.

I got this mixed up with The Fireman by Joe Hill which you recommended to me, sorry! :-) And I haven't gotten around to reading it....
Starting Inferno by Julie Kagawa. It's the final book in the YA fantasy "Talon" saga.

If you have not started this wonderful fantasy series by Robin Hobb, then what are you waiting for??

I got this ..."
I loved The Fireman.

I just finished Fool’s Errand (Tawny Man #1) by Robin Hobb after devouring Assassins Apprentice Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb.
I’m still working on Oathbringer; dern, it’s long. I’m about halfway through, and I’m out of renewals and have to return it to the library. It’s quite good, so I may need to buy a copy.
