I'm usually a single reader, but I've somehow found myself in a multi-book hell. I'm still trying to push through Les Misérables, a few chapters in on Moby-Dick or, The Whale, somewhere over half way through The Dead Zone, and Surf's Up, and somewhere near 30% through The Trench. All this wouldn't be too bad, if I weren't still somehow itching to pick up more random books.
Kenneth wrote: "Question; how do you like the writing style of Paula Hankins and what is her style?"I liked the girl on the train. Thought it was well written especially since the main character was (view spoiler) Takes real skill to write that sort of thing. And I thought the story wrapped up nicely.
Currently reading HornsI always thought I would like to be able to hear people's thoughts so I know what they REALLY think about me. I've decided that I'm happy to be ignorant to their true thoughts and take others at face value. I'm enjoying the story but almost put it down after a rather unsettling rant about God and Jesus. I rushed through it and decided to stick it out. I haven't seen the movie and not sure I want to. I think I'll just settle with the story as is. With 20 pages left and the story being in such a dark place, I may have to read a RomCom next.

Just watch out for the random books the might creep in. You might get the stand, it and a death cure to give you a fever code until you become a divergent mocking jay in the school of peculiar children.

Thanks Nick. I’ve been on the fence with this author and I as wondering if I should take the plunge as I now have a number of authors that I do enjoy reading
I am currently reading It for the first time. The Losers Club podcast is doing a review in September, and I wanted to be there when they did.
Kenneth wrote: "Thanks Nick. I’ve been on the fence with this author and I as wondering if I should take the plunge as I now have a number of authors that I do enjoy reading"Go for it. I didn't see the movie but I've heard it was pretty bad. The audiobook, on the other hand, is really great.
I find it interesting that people post a Stephen King Playlist for reading a certain novel but it doesn’t correspond to an audiobook. I for one cannot listen to music and read because I will have the lyrics of said song playing in my head as I read.
That said, I am reading Iain Reid’s Foe at the moment and thought that Days of the New, Face of the Earth would be a good single for this particular novel. I find I need close to silence in order to read. Though since having twin girls I am capable of reading with some noise, but if it’s familiar like a song. I’d be totally distracted.

I think that's true for writing as well. although I'm pretty sure King plays heavy metal when he writes.

Glen it doesn't matter to me a whit the noise level. I spent 20 years in the military I got use to reading in all noise levels. and all situations. No matter where I go I always have at least one book with me. One never knows when they will have a spare hour or two.
Linda wrote: "When I'm sitting on my deck with my book I've got the radio going for background noise."Wow. I try to shut out all external sounds. I'll even put on noise-canceling headphones. I don't want the mood of the music to conflict with the mood of the material I'm reading.
I started reading One of Us Is Lying . I liked the cover even though it was in the young adult section and I am far from that at this point. I don't fall for old adages like "don't judge a book by it's cover" obviously!

Both, I really loved; but they take a lot out of you. Good luck!!
Just finished
, book 3 in the Lunar Chronicles fantasy series. Still reading
, which I am almost finished with.... annndddd..... just starting
.
Just finished the Hunger Games. Will have a short review up soon... hopefully with a few new insights. Going to read Firestarter starting 9/1. In the meantime, I guess I have time to squeeze in the audiobook of the hunger games 2. Whatever happened to the read of Dark Tower 7?

There are lots of things you can and can't do in the genre. Maybe we'll have to start from scratch.
I just finished
and it was pretty solid. Nothing incredibly wonderful to write home about, but a pretty solid thriller.

Starting Inferno by Julie Kagawa. It's the final book in the YA fantasy "Talon" saga.
I finished Royal Assassin last night and loved it. If you have not started this wonderful fantasy series by Robin Hobb, then what are you waiting for??
Wise Cat wrote: "Nick wrote: Yes, I'm re-reading Firestarter. I've already read all of King's novels... many several times, some lots of times. Not all the short stories though, that's a tall order..."I got this ..."
I loved The Fireman.
Trying to read Carrie and a bunch of other stuff. But I'm feeling overwhelmed and haven't been able to pick up any of them lately.
Right now I’m reading Regulators and finding that the story has an interesting connection with Tak and the take over of Seth. I do believe this story is Kings Dark half possibly written by George Stark. I do wish that there were less cross over characters from Desperation.
I’m reading Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie and the Age of Swords by Michael J Sullivan. I just finished Fool’s Errand (Tawny Man #1) by Robin Hobb after devouring Assassins Apprentice Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb.
I’m still working on Oathbringer; dern, it’s long. I’m about halfway through, and I’m out of renewals and have to return it to the library. It’s quite good, so I may need to buy a copy.
