I would say the basis for Wilkie Collins in the book mirrors similar to the actual author but I don't know (view spoiler)
Probably, Erin. Dan Simmons is very thorough with his historical research.

Also reading Bridget Jones' Diary, which seems like it will be light, fun reading. :-) I think I need a break from the dystopian genre for awhile, as it's starting to read too much like the present.
A third book I'm working on is the Best American Sci-Fi and Fantasy short stories, 2017 edition. Normally, short stories are not my cup of tea but surprisingly I'm enjoying most of these.
I just started The Ruins by Scott Smith.

It is really good.

I am looking forward to starting the series. I have the first season on hold at my local library.
I finished The Ruins by Scott Smith this morning. Then I read Sweet Story by Carlton Mellick III. I really liked both of these books. Now I’m reading The Switch House by Tim Meyer.

Misery is one of my all-time SK faves. The movie is scarily true to the book to, thanks to the inimitable Kathy Bates.

OK bad joke

Great joke!!

MrBooks-The first book was exciting enough to make me immediately start the 2nd one. I'll definitely go for the next one but not right now. I'm taking on Infinite Jest

Check out The Regulators by Richard Bachman

Since I wanted a summer read that was a bit quicker than the outsider which is just too long of a commitment at this time

I loved infinite jest, really funny, but also mind altering.

Loved infinite jest. But you have to stay with it in spite of the length and the rambling narrative. Here's my spoiler-filled review.
