The Sword & Laser Anthology looks like it's going to be a huge success. Have you thought of doing something similar with Vaginal Fantasy?

Do you like when the heroine is a virgin? Personally I find it hard to believe that all these virgins are having multiple orgasms first time out of the gate.

question number 1.(it's actually a rant but whateva) I wasn't a fan of KC, and i probably woldn't pull thgrough this book (despite my crush on Bettina), if it wasn't for THIS bookclub, do you think the possibility to share wiepoints and laugh at the absurdity, influences the opinion we have of a book and reducess the wish to lem it?rant 2. Thanks a lot, my first virginal fictional crush... thanks a lot for this month's choice
question3. Trehan lived quite a long time in abstinence( he was dead downthere) so once his time of abstinence ended (?) shouldn't he last a shorter amount of time? that's what happens to guys when we have long periods of abstinence, that's anatomy mixed with blood pressure
question4. How in the world of Lore, could his, big tyrannousaurus rex fit in leather pants? (Bowie wery much)not to mention inside Bettina...
question5. The tournament was a sham! i understand Bettina was his fated one, but Trehan was bound to win the tournament, all he did his whole life was assasination, what was the point in that?
question6. bettina's reinforced virginity was basically one of the main tropes of the book, so if she was so virgin why she didn't scream and run when she've seen the beast that fires schorching jets of semen?
question7. Does the author have an obsession with semen and hymen? (that's probably gonna be the name of my cover band)
question8. I was curious what Bonnie thinks of the demonology in shadow's claim.
question9. People complained how Bettina was a weak character, but I believe it's all because of her name (I apologise to all the Bettinas in the worlds but that's a child name) and how those around her treated her that she couldn't shine in all her might
question10. what's with the double standards? bettina might get suillied and that's a problem, but Cas can suill any woman around and that's acceptable?
question11. where are the big girls in VF? Bettina was 5feet tall, while the vampire 6-7... why it's never the opposite? irish leprechauns are such an overignored species in VF
question 12. what's with the whole female -vampire calling? is it like when people during sex think of good ol'wrinkly grampa to tame the arousal?
There seems to be two major opinions about Morgana: some love her because she is a "strong independent woman", some hate her because she is so stereotypical and seems to take pleasure in making the main character feel inferior. What do you think?

whith all the semen flying around I was all "she'll get pregnant for sure", what was your reacion at all the seeds?

Mike wrote: "How much shame would a shadow claim if a shadow could claim shame?"2nd'd!
My question is, why does it seem like Shadow's Claim and Poison Princess are written by two extremely different writers? Is it the sex? Is she able to devote much more time to drama and world-building when she isn't coming up with ways to describe "scorching jets" of semen? ;)

seconding that question, do you think editors are more demanding and more active when it comes to YA ?
I don't think KC's style is affected by "scorching jets of semen", while not being hot enough to make it to my authors list, she's attractive enough to have her needs fullfilled, so she should be able to write with a lucid mind
Felicia wrote: "Post what you want us to talk about in Tuesday's hangout HERE!!!Oh boy, this is gonna be a blusher :("
to prevent the blush-o-meter from going skyhigh, I kept all the kinky questions to myself
i'm not sure how the series will continue, but I hope that Cas finds his mate, and she/he learning of his past ( you know the search by attempts) desides his past is too much to handle and shows him the boot

I posed this question on the book's thread, but I would be interested to hear what the ladies think: Shadow's Claim and really all of Kresley Cole's Immortals series tends to have a super possessive man pursuing a reluctant woman as his fated bride/mate. What do you think about a romance book where that was flipped around? Where the woman strongly pursues the man and succeeds? Would you be interested in reading such a story or have you seen anything like that not played for comedy?

I'd just like to point out that several of us "pulled a Bonnie" this month and read the alt first. :)Do you think reading order affects your enjoyment of certain books? What order did you all read in this month?
here's what I foudn about the empress cardWhen The Empress appears in the past position, you are being confronted with some diva-like behavior in the recent past that has caused the tumult in your interpersonal relationships.
Isn't that how Evie started? I assume KC did some serious research on the tarot cards, unless our ocult expert in charge says otherwise.
And by the meaning of Empress+Death, I assume book 2 will be just an interlude before book 3 comes out.
In Shadow's Claim, did anyone else think Delorean when they talked about residents of the realm being Loreans?

Claire wrote: "In Shadow's Claim, did anyone else think Delorean when they talked about residents of the realm being Loreans?"i thought of a series of browser mmorpg, where lorean is the name of a race
I was reading shadow's claim and goodreads (actually it was felicia's bookshelf, and great book btw... thanks Felicia!) recommended 'the way of the shadows" and in fact... there was a similarity:What's going on with all those assasins taking openly part in an arranged tournament? Seriously if I was a Lorean taking part in a tournament to the death and a guy called The prince of shadows showed up, i'd probably give up (but more probably I would do anything in my power to claim the prize)
kind of in line with the virgin/experienced male pairing, what's up with the 22yo/900yo pairing? really? I just think it's the rare 20 something that has any idea who they are or how the world works and how does that really mesh with someone with 900yr worth of life experience?

In Shadows Claim, did you find Bettinas blind love for Cas made the romance between her and Trehan a little awkward? Specially since the author kept it going on for so long?

have you noticed one detail on the cover of shadow's claim? Trehan is suposed to have a pimple on his chin

Do you find that a character's name has an impact on how seriously you take them or how much you like the character? For me, the name Bettina put me right off. It made me think of Miss Piggy screeching at her daughter in Muppets Christmas Carol - not sexy
I did find the sexy scenes to be pretty hot, but the modern references/language was annoying. What is it with the Beckham references in some of these novels? I just read one of Elizabeth Naughton's Eternal Guardian books that referenced him too. I agree with a few of the above posters about the virgin thing. I find when a female character is more "experienced", it's more interesting. By the way, E. Naughton's Guardian series is really good. The world building and plots are well written . . . maybe one of these novels could be a future pick?
Liz wrote: "I did find the sexy scenes to be pretty hot, but the modern references/language was annoying. What is it with the Beckham references in some of these novels? I just read one of Elizabeth Naughton's..."Beckham's references come down to his underwear or rather the content of em

there are rumors saying Kermit is not the father

Wait...what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Tuesday. My idea is still the best. I would really like to see the A-Team debate that one. (scroll up, message :3)

oh, human and shapeshifter/vampire/zombie is fine, but a pig and a frog is over the line?
No, no, sex with zombies is gross. Shape-shifters? Depends on the shape. Human and sheep or anything with 4 legs...nope, not goin' there. Human and vampire? Worked in True Blood and made multimillionaires out of actresses with zero talent, so...it must work. Still, vampires are so cold! And no heart beat? Creepy!
I think they only had children because Kermit was Bob Cratchit and they had Tiny Tim (frog) and twins Bettina and Belinda (pigs). Don't think they exist outside of that film. I always wondered as a kid, aside from how it would even work, why the pairing didn't result in some sort of frog/pig hybrid instead of the boys being frogs and girls being pigs.

It wasn't just the actresses who had zero talent. The men were just as bad. However, it's not necessarily their fault. The writing is so poor they don't have a whole lot to work with...
In real life, the age differences between men and women tend to be about 3-5 years with the male being the older. In a lot of urban fantasy in which characters are sometimes immortal, the standard seems to be that the male character is often decades or centuries old... yet because he physically appears to be of the appropriate age, nobody seems to raise an eyebrow. The question/comment. Age differences. Would it really be possible for someone with the life experience of... well, several lifetimes to be attracted to someone as naive and outright blank as Bettina? Wouldn't such a character in reality have "been there and done that" any number of times. (In this case, he's been "dead" until she awakens him... but still.)
So, older men? Older women? What's the dealio with age differences?
Would you have liked Bettina more if she hadn't fancied herself in love with a demon who was clearly 'just not that into her'? If there had been a compelling reason for her to agree to the tournament? (What would have been a compelling enough reason?)Bettina's power is fairly dark and intense - do you feel like there were aspects of Bettina's character that reflected her power? (Is it a bigger deal to take an immortal life or a mortal life? Is there a difference?)
I should know this; sorry I don'tCan I watch Tuesday's hangout live streaming? (Probably not) If not, when is it usually posted for the Great Unwashed to view?

going totally off-topic, I'm curious what did Kiala think of the 'baby ending' in Bioschock infinite

Tarot meets post-apocalypse Earth. Could Poison Princess be written as a non-young adult novel with a lot less relationship angst and insecurity and still carry the same plot line?

In Shadow's Claim, what did you ladies think of the modern day references (Deadmau5, RHPS, and Cracker Barrel)? I was super cozy in my little midieval setting, and that totally ripped me right out of it.

Molly wrote: "I'd just like to point out that several of us "pulled a Bonnie" this month and read the alt first. :)I'm in that camp. In fact, I didn't even read the main. I didn't realize that the alt was YA and the main was smuttier, it just seemed to have a more intriguing plot line. Also, I was just coming down from Sword and Laser's Wool Omnibus pick, and wanted to continue on my post-apocolyptic kick.
Don't forget us Alt readers!
I know many reviewers did not like the modern day references, but I had hoped to see Bettina travel back and forth between her world and our world since the story started in our world. So my question is: should there have been more modern day references, not less (or none)?Second question: I wish Bettina had been able to take part in taking out the Vrekeners that had attacked her, instead of Trehan doing it alone. It would have strengthened her character and improved the story in general if she took them out using her handmade weapons. Do you agree or disagree with this plot change?
As always, looking forward to Tuesday night!

Patronizing (Let me show you how much I know, little one), and it makes me suspect them of manipulation ALL THE TIME. Ageless love interests bug me, big time. Does this ever bother any of you?
It was also brought up in my local hangout that Bett's naivete seemed odd in someone who attended college in our world. Girl went to raves. Thoughts on that?
As far as Poison Princess, how do you feel about the idea that all of the men reverted to base animal instincts in such a short time? And Jackson's suggestion that it's because of the shortage of women and their civilizing influence? Do you feel it's semi-realistic, or do men deserve more credit?
I had real trouble dealing with the constant italics and the way this book was punctuated. Did this bug anybody else?Along those lines, did the mash up of modern language and archaic terms strike anyone else as odd?
