ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Now I'm picturing her behind the scenes shuffling a bunch of books around and placing them onto a large wall that looks like a spreadsheet. Of course, she looks like the little blue running man in her icon, too.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Michael never posts anything in the team threads but he does add books to his shelf. I just checked his recently read books and added one for the 7%. You can take him if you have to :-( But if our combined goals are only 1502 then I don't see why we have to lose someone at this point. I saw at least one other team with a goal over 1500 and most of the others seem to have goals of 1300+.

Andrea doesn't post much be she has commented on the 7% challenge and has posted books she's finished in teh finished book thread.

Which Team is this, Mary: HDLS? The highest I see is 1,404. We tried very hard not to go over 1400, even when considering people upping their goals.

Are you looking at the Team Assignments are a Team's bar graph? Because Mango Tango is above 1500, but they have three bogus players on their Home Page challenge which we are NOT counting.

This is the page on the TA I'm talking about:

message 55: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Yeah I looked at the home page thing.

message 56: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Oh and I'm not trying to sound like a whiner. It just seemed like ok, they finally give us some players and now they want to take one away when other teams have higher goals.

But I thought you meant taking a pewter blue player away for the whole challenge. Not for just the 7% where we're combined with Cadet Blue.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 476 comments Mod
No, sorry for the confusion, Mrs. Dresden. Just from the 7% Solution Challenge "Pewter/Cadet Blue" match-up.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 476 comments Mod
Working on getting Holly on-board right now. ☺

message 59: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) If you need anyone to step out I'm willing. I've finished 2 books (mostly out of luck of timing) but honestly will finish a lot less then anyone else in the group, plus I want everyone to be able to participate that wants to and I don't really mind either way.

Another idea is that maybe our team can only use books by those signed up to play and active in the 7% challenge instead of using books by anyone since we have more? That way we're not excluding anyone that actively wants to participate, we're just taking away the advantage of using random team books.

message 60: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 476 comments Mod
Yes, Jex. That is why I was thinking about taking off Micheal. He isn't active in the 7%.

Thanks for your offer, too.

message 61: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) Would it make sense to say that anyone joining either team after today won't count for those challenges? Even if we take Michael off, we just got Nika with another 100 goal so it just evened out.

If we cut it off I think it'll be less of a pain to shuffle later.

message 62: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Ugh. I am not going to be much help with earning cupcakes for our team. I suck at those slider puzzles.

message 63: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 135 comments Yeah I don't know how to download pictures and don't even get what I am supposed to do.

message 64: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I have trouble with posting the pictures too. I figured out how to do the tiny url thing last week. But last night I did the jigsaw puzzle and I couldn't get it to give me the tiny url on the link they put in the games/puzzles thread.

message 65: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) So do I need to remove the books I used from Michael & Lindy on the 7% challenge updates above? Since they aren't actively participating in the 7% challenge. I'm keeping Andrea's books. She doesn't post much in the discussion groups. But she's been posting her finished books in the finished books thread so I can find homes for them. I consider that actively participating in the 7% challenge.

message 66: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Oh and LK do I need to move your Greek book? I was under the assumption that we could use any cover edition.

Go ahead and count it, Mrs. Dresden. I took a pic of my cover to show how much more of a bright blue it is:

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments What's our book count, so far?

message 69: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Not sure but we're doing pretty darn good. I was gone most of the day. Right now I'm waiting for my friend to come over and we're going to go for a walk and out for lunch. I'll place finished books until she gets here though and then finish our update when I get back.

message 70: by Nika ♥Marie♥ (new)

Nika ♥Marie♥ (mylknhoney) I added books I finished in June to the 7% thread I don't know where they could go.

message 71: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Riya, in the finished books thread, you asked about skipping some categories.

I think we probably won't do much with the BOM and buddy read ones because no one seems to be posting that they have read those. Although that could change as the 7% challenge progresses.

I think for Behind Enemy lines, we will probably fill that at least once. I know I personally have 3 or 4 on other team's read shelves and will probably get those in sometime. But those books can always be moved somewhere else if we can't fill a set of 7 with them.

Point is, the books might not stay where I have them set up now.

message 72: by Riya (new)

Riya Thanks!!!! That makes so much sense! I was just wondering, since I'm not entirely sure how it worked.

message 73: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) They can be moved around until they are submitted for a completed category. Which is why I won't be submitting any completed categories for awhile.

My was out and about with my friend most of the day. Since it's 7:30 pm, my time, I'm going to update the spreadsheet for the Sunday night update and then go back to placing books. Then I'll post an update here on how the categories are looking.

message 74: by Mary X (last edited Jun 09, 2013 06:54PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) OK added all the newbies to our spreadsheet, did all the clicking to update tracking bars to show all our books. Removed Lisa Kay from the spreadsheet.

Here are our overall Round II stats:
(for Pewter Blue)
Team goal: 1275
Total Books read: 217
% of goal: 17%.

I think we're doing darn good considering we were only recently made a full team and our goal is one of the lowest. At least we're close to the 1350 now and have a fighting chance.

Ok taking a break from the computer and then I'll do a 7% update and post the stats.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Good job Pewter and Cadet Blues! On everything. Our little teams are making it!

message 76: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I am just too freaking tired to update anymore. I did the stuff for Sunday update. Tomorrow I will update the rest of the books finished this weekend for the 7%challenge and post a status update.

I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night and I'm going to bed now.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Goodnight, Mary!

message 78: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (last edited Jun 09, 2013 07:11PM) (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments I am finally getting around to looking for books for Behind Enemy Lines. I'll add them to my reading plan as I find them! (So that I know whose shelf I 'stole' them from when I actually post them as "finished").

message 79: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 135 comments We need one more from # six then done. WE CAN USE ANY OF THE EXTRAS WITH ANT LETTERS FROM any rose. Then r we done?

message 80: by Mary X (last edited Jun 10, 2013 01:16PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) We might be done with the whole challenge. But I might have to remove some less active players because when we started off as combined teams we had less players. But now we've added some players who have turned out to be very active. I might have to drop Lisa Kay, Jex, Michael, Sonia & Lindy. None have a lot of books but I jsut don't have the time right now to remove theirs and then move others around to make completed categories.

I can't work on it anymore until later tonight but I created a "final" update post here:
7%finishedcategories

If anyone wants to take a look at it and see where books can be removed from the players listed above and others moved, I won't mind at all.

message 81: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Well I just got home from my craft class. I also got a call from my mother that the architect is coming tomorrow at 4pm to look at the house and hear about what we want done. (my mother is my landlord and we're putting an addition on to my very tiny house).

Anyway. I am using the rest of the evening to vacuum, mop and speed clean. I know I won't be able to get up early enough to do housework before I go to work.

message 82: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) Done already? It's only week 2! :-P

message 83: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I hear that we aren't the only team that's finished. I just hope that this confusion over possibly having to remove players doesn't cost us anythign when I could have posted a full finish yesterday afternoon.

message 84: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Is there that many that have left the challenge? When it just started two months ago? That really stinks!

message 85: by Moderators of NBRC (last edited Jun 11, 2013 07:35AM) (new)

No, Brooke, not a lot of people have left the challenge.

Cadet Blue and Pewter Blue are actually two Teams that joined forces for the 7% Solution Challenge, because their totals were so low. (Cadet Blue was where all the Mods were, and Pewter Blue was newly forming.)

Now that so many new members have joined, the Mods - or whoever Mary: HDLS and Teresa decide upon - will be removed from the "joined" Team that was put together for the 7% Challenge.

Does that make sense?

No, there is no advantage for posting early.

message 89: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Ok good to know that there's no advantage for finishing early. Now I can relax a little about it. Vicki is now my co-captain and she has volunteered to come up with a working group that meets the 1350 goal and to move some books around.

So keep posting finished books. One of them might fit into a newly vacation hole. I was more concerned about being done and then having to redo my "finished" categories and in the mean time a bunch of other teams finishing and then we lose out. Because I couldn't work on it last night and I don't know if I can until much later tonight either. But it doesn't look like that matters.

message 90: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I'm very happy to have a full and active team now. At first it was just me and Lisa Kay and Teresa from Cadet blue posting in the threads. Now that I have some active players, I'll come up with some mini-challenges. They'll be totally optional and jsut for fun.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Yeah, with no advantage to being finished early, I say we just hang onto our categories until we find out if anything else needs to be rearranged for whatever reason. Glad you now have a co-captain to help out with things.

message 92: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I can't believe we got so many completed so quickly. I think I only finished 3 for it and that was only because I was half-way through one when it started. All those newbie Pewter Bluers really came through on this one.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments They sure did!

I've only read 1, I think. Well, I finished a second book today but can't remember if it qualifies. Need to look at that still.

message 94: by Riya (new)

Riya We're just glad we could help! :D

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) We're done and I am submitting all our books for approval.

Thanks everyone. We did awesome on this. I had no idea we'd get it done so quickly.

Barbara (worthwhilereading) That's great!
From a barely formed new group to finishing this large challenge in record time!
Yay Pewter Blue!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Also... GREAT JOB on keeping track of all the books, Mary!!! And for everything you did to help the Cadet/Pewter Blue teams achieve the 7% Solution!!

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I think we also went up a spot in the rankings.
