Marco (marcoverga86) | 5 comments Last saturday I added this edition of "Il Fu Mattia Pascal" (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...), because it was not present in the database, and added all the data (in italian).

Now I found out that the description was changed in what I think it's portuguese.

Since it's an italian edition I'd like to bring back the description I added when creating the book; I searched in the chengelog of the book, but I can't find the old description (and this is strange because in another book I found out the whole chengelog, complete of description).

How can I bring back the italian description?

Thanks to all!

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments If the description is not in the change log, then there is no way to reinstate it. You will need to add it again.

Edit: There are other Italian editions, you could copy and paste one of those descriptions in to your copy if it is appropriate.

Jozef Nakielski (jozef_nakielski) | 100 comments strange because it says last updated 6 hours ago. I think Paula is right. If you do type it out again make sure you keep a copy. I suspect someone has changed it to default and in doing so deleted your work.

Jozef wrote: "I suspect someone has changed it to default and in doing so deleted your work."

That would show up in the log as a change from his description to blank.

Jozef Nakielski (jozef_nakielski) | 100 comments Is there any way of viewing differences in edits without undoing them like you can on wikipedia?

Edits of everything but images are fully visible in both versions on the log.

Marco (marcoverga86) | 5 comments @Jozef: The ISBN is 9788871007496
What I see from the changelog is this: description: '' to '' (undo) .

Well I'll retype the description then. Didn't know this thing of the default description...

No. It means no change was made, which implies the description the OP added somehow was never saved properly.

Marco (marcoverga86) | 5 comments rivka that's strange, because I remember that on monday and tuesday I saw the description I typed... Nevermind, I'll change it!! :)

If I set my description as default will be the default one only for my edition, right? Then I'll have to understand the difference between description and default description...

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments No, if you tick the default description box on the edition that you write then that becomes the default for all the books without their own description.

Incorrect use of the default description box is the main reason books have the wrong language description.

Edit: There is no defined policy regarding the default description language but we tend to go with either English or if there are 2 English editions and 6 another language and someone has interest then use the other language as the default.
