No plans for it this year, sorry Carrie

Hello! We are just reading one each month over May, June, July as part of our Tower Teams challenge, but you can also request one in the buddy read thread and see if you can find anyone who would like to read with you

Yes absolutely, jump in! The TT players are doing it for team points but anyone can join :)

Betty wrote: "Are there any active audiobook challenges? The ones I’ve seen haven’t been active in years."
Not explicitly, but you can use audiobooks in any standard challenge.
If you have a suggestion for a dedicated audiobook challenge, please feel free to send the mod account a PM and we'll look into getting one sorted

We have three individual
audio challenges that have been around for years, but people still do them - often more than once.
You can start here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
(Last person to complete was just a few months ago) and then once finished move to part two and part three

I'm not a Mod on this group, but I think I can help you out. :-)
The volunteering on the BOM threads is for writing a day of DQs (discussion questions). From all the volunteers the Mods will put these in a randomizer and the people that come up will be assigned a day to write questions for a specific section.
Oh almost forgot - when you are in a team challenge points are earned for writing DQs and participating in be BOM by answering DQs. (There is a team challenge going on now - Tower Teams - so there are lots of volunteers! Lol)
Some people post that they will be participating in the BOM discussions, but other will jump in once the DQs have been posted and start joining the discussions then.
Hope that helps!

Thank you so much Angie, I really appreciate your clear explanation. I look forward to partaking

Is there a way to only get notifications for the challenges I'm actually a part of? I feel like I'm missing something.
Tricia wrote: "Question about handling notifications - I have digest only checked for this group, but it still is an overwhelming amount of info in the emails as it includes all the teams, all the challenges, etc..."
I don’t know the answer but I can share what I do…
With all my groups I have all notifications and emails off.
Then when I add a comment in a thread I set that thread to “notification only”. That way I just get the notification on the site for what I am active in.
You can also check what you have currently set on/off by going to the group home page - edit membership - edit group discussion updates.
It may take a bit to start to turn everything off you no longer want, but at least then you can start to only turn things on for what you comment on

How do you find out about new challenges and discussions you do want to be a part of, though? I am afraid if I turn off all notifications and emails, then I'll miss out when they announce something new.

The monthly broadcast message that is sent (from this group from the mod account and I find most other groups also send one now) includes the new challenges and discussion threads.
You can also click your profile picture in the top right and then click discussions. That page will show the latest discussion threads in your groups.
It may not be 100% in keeping across everything but will save you a lot of emails :)

Try this one

I’ll update the link in the reading challenge index later too

Not sure I know what rhat is.
If you go to the top right to your profile picture and click that and then comments.
Then you can check out your comments in different groups until you find it :)

1. When trying to earn gem coins, is the "use at least 10% of the word total as your book count" rule applicable to all Scavenger Hunt options for each CYOA challenges? This rule is listed explicitly on some challenges and not others, so I'm wondering if the 10% rule only applies if it's listed?
2. For the "only accepting plurals and no other variations on the words" rule, does this work in the other direction? Meaning, could I find a singular version of a plural word (apple instead of apples for example)?
Also bonus for those of y'all who enjoy doing the scavenger hunt options: any tips on trying to keep your challenge comment under the character limit? I'm struggling, with so many words and quotes and page numbers, and I hate having to break up my comment into multiple parts lol.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. (c:

Do I have to be on a District team to participate? Also, how do the District teams work?

I’d say for many of us that is where reading challenges come in. Pick a reading challenge that you like the sound of, and then find a book from your physical or digital shelves that matches the criteria. Voila you have your next read!
All the individual challenges are here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
And for BOMs you don’t need to have read the book - in fact people generally have not read what they nominate. It’s just about nominating something that fits the criteria for the month :)
