Barb Have fun, Jane :) I really enjoy the ladder puzzles (doublets), and your post reminded me that I still have to do the word search!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Apologies, Steven for missing a book. I read it on kindle and it just opened to the first reading page and I didn't even check the cover. I will definitely pay closer attention.

I have a few books for the colours ahead/behind that also double for my May challenge category so you can move them around. These are the categories I will concentrate on.

Yes. It gives you more options.

message 154: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) It's okay Barb... a lot of people are getting that mixed up!

Lisa, it's okay. Just wanted to make sure people were paying attention because we totally would have missed out on some books for the challenge :)

message 155: by Karla (new)

Karla Both of the books I have read this week fit my category. As does the one I am reading now. But, as I have said before, I will add all of the books I read this week to the books finished thread Friday or Saturday. I am too tired after spending 6 1/2 hours with Kindergartners and a two hour commute home to get on the computer long enough to do it. Now, I have to get ready for tomorrow.

message 156: by Barb (new)

Barb A two hour commute? Ugh, that would drive me crazy!

message 157: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) No need to be snippy... I'm sorry I missed your comment about posting on Friday or Saturday. I'm tired from work as well, and keeping track of everything is exhausting as well. So we all understand stress.

Hope your Friday is excellent and you get some relaxing time this weekend... And reading time!

Karla Barb wrote: "A two hour commute? Ugh, that would drive me crazy!"

Luckily, I am not the one driving, but it still takes a lot out of me. I fell asleep on the way home Wednesday and was in bed by 8:30!

Didn't mean to be snippy, sorry. I made the font bold so it wouldn't be missed.

message 159: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I can barely handle my ten minute commute. I hate driving. Hard to believe a few years ago I worked in downtown Charlotte and commuted almost an hour and 45 minutes. Never again will I do that!

message 160: by Barb (new)

Barb I don't mind driving, but I get really frustrated with many of the other drivers on the road :) Today, for example, was one of those gray, drizzly days, so everyone around here automatically slowed down to a turtle's pace *sigh* Yes, I understand it's good to slow down some when the roads are wet, but good grief... Be reasonable about it!

message 161: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Amen to that. It's some rain, not a snowstorm!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Being from Atlanta I love when everyone on the expressway drives 90 mph in pouring rain them tries to stop on a dime. Good grief r u kidding me? Lol.

message 163: by Barb (new)

Barb Yeah, it's either feast or famine LOL Atlanta is one of the cities where I'm afraid to drive!!

message 164: by Karla (new)

Karla Just added my books. Hope I did it right, so tired my brain isn't working right.

message 165: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments @ Steven

Just seen that it is needed to put in the date of when the enemy read their books.
So here they are and in future I will add it to the post in the book thread.

Rivers of London read by Oo from LJB April 19th.
Waking up married by Melissa from Moonstone April 20th.
Alone read by Kristin from Moonstone April 18th.
Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues read by Vikki from PMM April 19th.

message 166: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Thanks, Jane! I was about to go find those shelves and write down the numbers. I really appreciate that!!!

message 167: by Karla (new)

Karla I will post the books I read this week Friday or Saturday.

message 168: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I expect to finish two books today, hopefully. World War Z and the audio of The Dead Girls Dance.

message 169: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Excellent, Jane!

We're getting close to finishing!

We didn't finish first like we did on the read-a-thon, but we're still doing awesome :)

message 170: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I have now finished both books.

World War Z was a bit hard to get through in the end, I felt he could have left out at least the last 50 pages but my husband really wanted me to read this one so we can go see it in the cinema.

The Dead Girls Dance was on audio - it is actually the first audio I have finished. I have one other that I have been trying to listen to since last summer and just not getting anywhere.

To push myself I joined a audio challenge so I have to listen to at least 6 audiobooks this year. That is going to be one of my more difficult challenges.

message 171: by Barb (new)

Barb Jane, what genre/s do you prefer? I listen to audiobooks all the time and might be able to recommend some titles that I really enjoyed listening to :)

As you may have discovered, most times, the reader can make a *world of difference. I've listened to some books I had planned to read instead simply because they were read by my favorite narrator/reader LOL

message 172: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments That means Behind Enemy Lines are done.

Which category should I continue with?

Should I do BEL again? - I still have another 19 books on a list to chose from.

Or should I do another category?

My next book will fit several categories so I will most likely start it tonight.

message 173: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Barb, I guess my preferred genre is paranormal. My husband also listen to a lot of audio though he prefers the dramatised versions.

My problem has been that I just can't sit and listen to an audio, it just sends me to sleep and when I am in the house I tend not to listen to anything.

Any suggestions would be good, Thank you.

message 174: by Sheila (last edited Jun 12, 2013 04:40PM) (new)

Sheila (sheilalynn) | 21 comments I don't know if either of these books count as paranormal, but they are fantasy and I listened to them on audiobook. So these are my recommendations for what they are worth.
Right now I am listening to Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor . And I am really enjoying it so far. The reader has a really good voice and does all the different characters really well.

A little while ago I listened to White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black and Red Glove (Curse Workers, #2) by Holly Black . They are a series and they are read by Jesse Eisenberg and he does a splendid job. He does a great job of being a teenage boy with depth. You can really hear the various emotions in his voice.

message 175: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Jane, if you have any purple or red covered books, we are partway through on some of those.

Of course, we might have enough to complete the challenge once I finish the last Sevens in my set of them if I move some of the extras around into the Spell It Out. :p

message 176: by Jane (last edited Jun 12, 2013 05:13PM) (new)

Jane | 206 comments @ Steven, The one I have just started from our chain game is purple so that would work.

@ Sheila, I also read a lot of fantasy. They are all three also paranormal. I have heard of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Who is the reader on your edition?

I can see that the audible edition of White Cat is Jesse Eisenberg so I might try that

But first I think I will start Deja Dead tomorrow as I already have that, at my listening pace it will take me 8-10 days to get through.

message 177: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I enjoyed reading Deja Dead!

Read whatever you want to, Jane. We are so close to finishing that we can probably work most anything into a slots somewhere. :)

message 178: by Barb (new)

Barb Jane wrote: "Barb, I guess my preferred genre is paranormal. My husband also listen to a lot of audio though he prefers the dramatised versions."

Ugh, I can't stand the dramatized versions, they drive me crazy LOL Unfortunately, I read/listen to very little paranormal, so I can't help with any recommendations there. I'll talk to some of my co-workers, though, and see if any of them can help :)

message 179: by Karla (last edited Jun 17, 2013 01:23PM) (new)

Karla So, we have finished the challenge, right? We can read whatever we want and not have to worry about how the book fits into the challenge?

Just curious, Steven, how did you go about choosing the books you included in the final post for the challenge?

message 180: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I meant to post that I had submitted it, and that we were done, and then work got nuts and I completely forgot.

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM! We've finished the 7% challenge! :D

Karla, I had planned on letting everyone finish their sections as before, but decided to go ahead and submit today for a few reasons: 1- tracking is very timeconsuming and my work stress has been fed by all the captaining! and 2- this way we can do our own minichallenge again in July (like the Books by the Numbers) and 3- everyone can read whatever they like again!

I chose books based on how they fit AND made sure to try and use books from each person. For the May RaT choices I mostly used ones that fit the covers requirements because I love seeing bookcovers :D

I have no idea what "ntiatywamqidly" means though. X)

message 181: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay team! That will be a 4-book bonus for us, although it looks like everyone is going to finish the challenge, so it won't be much of an advantage LOL

Now we need to start thinking about what we want to do for the August challenge, when the mods are taking their 'vacation' :)

message 182: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218)

WE'VE COMPLETED THE SEVEN PERCENT JUNE/JULY CHALLENGE!!! GOOD JOB TEAM!!!

I made sure to use as many books from each person that I could to make it work! :D

message 183: by Karla (new)

Karla @Steven ntiatywamqidly means nothing. I'm deleting it from the original post.

message 184: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I figured you might have hit your keyboard or something on accident?

message 185: by Karla (new)

Karla Steven wrote: "I figured you might have hit your keyboard or something on accident?"

Yep

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) I finished another book....Last Sacrifice, richelle mead 594 pages..

Steven - I wasnt sure where to post my finished book since we have completed our 7% challenge...

message 187: by Barb (new)

Barb You can post them in the general team thread now, Sallie ... at least until we start another mini challenge of some sort :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) With the threads I need a map lol thank u for the direction

message 189: by Barb (new)

Barb I know, there are a LOT of them. I wonder if there's a way we can archive the threads that go with the challenges we've completed?

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) I was thinking the same earlier when I was trying to decide where to post earlier lol

message 191: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'll look into it tomorrow :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Sounds good thanks Steven u r the best

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Umm, now that we have completed the challenge are we still supposed to be posting our completed books somewhere? I just assumed we'd go back to normal and Steven would refer to our appropriate shelf for a count at the end of each week.

No worries, just clarify whatever works the best to make Steven's job a little easier. Thanks.

message 194: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Yeah, no need to post books anywhere special while we aren't in a challenge or mini challenge.

message 195: by Barb (new)

Barb I like to post the books I've finished in our main team thread, because it might generate some conversation about the book/s :) I love to see what everyone else is reading ... but that's how I keep adding so many books to my TBR list LOL
