Zeenat (zeekwon) | 241 comments LOL! It was the second book where I thought "I like Trent, I kinda wish she made it with him". but I did fall for kisten. when kisten went away though... I was team trent all the way!

TWiser I thought it was leaning towards Trent all along. And I also think it's instinct from camp that was erased but not emotionally removed. They were close at camp I think and a bond was set even if was forgotten. They let their trust issues cloud their instincts.

Isabella | 24 comments The Undead Pool... anyone but me who has a problem with the title? I associate it with a swiming-pool with vampire teeth or in the worst case with vampires. I don't care about the vampires or their problems. I think the Rachel/Trent demons/elves storyline is much more interesting. EA was fantastic :). Hopefully both Rachel and Trent will be on the cover :).

Veronica (readingonthefly) TWiser wrote: "I thought it was leaning towards Trent all along. And I also think it's instinct from camp that was erased but not emotionally removed. They were close at camp I think and a bond was set even if wa..."

I think so too. I wish that Kim would delve into it a little more but I'm not expecting it at this point. I do love the little clues we get though, like in EA when they do the thumb promise (at Trent's suggestion!) and Rachel vaguely remembers doing it at camp involving a stolen key and a counselor's office. And then of course sharing a bottle of red pop.

@Isabella - I'm over all the vampire melodrama too. I'd be perfectly happy to keep the elves/demons storyline going all the way to the last book. Hopefully Kim does a nice balance so that the last book isn't ALL vampires.

Me too! I am fascinated by the demon and elf stuff. The vampire stuff, not so much. A lots already been done with them and it lost it's steam. But Kim does have ways of keeping things interesting so we shall see, and they do have to tie up Ivy's soul plotline somehow.

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 241 comments I think they are all colliding with each other. The synopsis talks about magic, and then the vampires keep track of the undead, and then needing elf magic to fix it... And of course with elves come the demons. It's all one big circle.

Lena (eksiya) | 5 comments Could it be a simpler answer for the kitchen? Maybe she is making it for some demon in the ever-after?

Jaclyn | 19 comments I saw some new comments on Kim's blog that are food for thought:

She is asked, "it was clear to me that Trent has feelings for Rachel and vice versa. This makes me really happy, but I’m sad knowing that Trent will put his duty above all else and Rachel, being the kind of person she is, will support him in this, meaning he will marry Ellasbeth. So my question is should I give up hope of Rachel and Trent as a couple?"

and Kim said, "Will Trent adhere to duty, or follow his heart? I cannot say, because as Rachel realizes, this is something that Trent has worked his entire life for. He could be . . . wow. Just have to wait and see."

When we got to read the chapter in Trent's POV from A Perfect Blood, we are told, "But another part of him wondered what he was willing to sacrifice to save her, and it scared him that he didn't know the answer."

Then another question was, "Is there anyway that Ceri or Pierce will reappear?" and Kim's answer is, "Just keep reading. I can’t give spoilers like that out. However, we will find out more about Al and Ceri in THE UNDEAD POOL. Yes."

Just wanted to share as it's a few more tidbits to think on.

Veronica (readingonthefly) I'm going to keep clinging to the hope that Trent will find some other way to be what the elves need and that he won't marry Ellasbitch. I'm clinging to that until it gets ripped away from me. That said, I don't like the message of following duty that will make you miserable over being happy. Especially not in this case where I don't even see WHY Trent should have to marry that woman. They are already bound by the fact that they are Lucy's parents.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Theres really no reason he should have to marry her now at this point. She's not even completely pure. But I think it's something with a merging of the families and that they already have a child that makes him more inclined. Still, I see no reason he has to do that in order to elevate the elves further.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....and other excited noises right now :)

I'm of the mind that Trent will go through the motions of another marriage with Ellasbeth but then there will be some overwhelming proof that she is endangering Rachel's life and Trent will do whatever he can to save her. I think that will be the end of that.

My best guess it that Ellasbeth will continue to attack Rachel and the demons will find out. It would be war again for demons and elves. My next theory is that Trent will offer himself to stop the war. This is just a theory

Jaclyn | 19 comments Cher wrote: "My best guess it that Ellasbeth will continue to attack Rachel and the demons will find out. It would be war again for demons and elves. My next theory is that Trent will offer himself to stop the war. This is just a theory "

That's a very interesting theory, and still fits in to what I think with Ellasbeth not giving up going after Rachel and Trent putting a stop to it. I'll have to mull that over a while, but I like it. I just want to make sure that Trent is with Rachel because of 'his heart' at Kim put it and not out of a sense of duty. Kim did say that the choice is between the two. I love trying to think of all that could come while we have this long wait. Six more months feels like forever. I've been re-reading in between other books.

Jaclyn | 19 comments Here was another interesting question that I didn't know about - did you guys see this?? I missed it completely:

She was asked, "I have read that the coming Hollows book may involve a new species, is that true?"

She answered,"Yeah. I guess you could call it a new species."

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 241 comments I think Trent is going to have to face a choice, doing hte right thing or pleasing the elves. He's going to "do the right thing" which will give Rachel the final a-ha "I'm in love with this man" and Trent gets to be "who he wants" and do the "right thing" while also choosing rachel over Ellasbeth.

LOL bit cliched, but hey I'll go with it.

Marzie I find it incomprehensible that Trent, king of Elven genetic engineering, can't donate sperm for creating legions of Elven children as test tube babies. I fully expect that Rachel and Trent will end up as a couple, in spite of my reservations about Trent.

And, though Kim has said elves and demons are genetically not capable of reproducing with each other, I don't know if anyone ever asked her about a genetically engineered hybrid? Elven-demon hybrids would, if in sufficient numbers, put the whole war thing to bed at last. I'm just not sure that Trent could stomach that idea, though. Unless he starts to see all demons through a Rachel prism, he's always going to see Rachel as some sort of species exception.

Jaclyn, Kim alluded to it in a comment back in a May post (when she announced the title of book 12) when she said that she had originally submitted another title that wasn't approved.

"I submitted it under Mystic Impact to reflect a new critter called mystics."

Thank you so much! Mystic automatically makes me think of X-Men, but I'll be wondering what critter this is about. I wonder if it has something to do with the babies that he asks for her help with at the end of Ever After.

Marzie Jaclyn wrote: "Mystic automatically makes me think of X-Men" Me, too!

I had totally forgotten that Mystic Impact was the previous name of the book!

Erika, you might be closer to getting your birthday wish than you realize. A few things were finalized this week, and things are moving again.
Congrats on the give-away!

Isabella | 24 comments I have been wondering about something: in Pale Demon when Rachel and Al are at Dalliance and Newt sends her away to Shift the reality; she overhears Newt telling Al that if Rachel ever has sex with him she would kill him, and Al replies; "don't you think I know that". I've been thinking about that episode for awhile since in a later book (or earlier) we get the clue that Al's DNA is reset.
If Al and Rachel moves thier relationship further there are the possibilties of Rachel getting pregnant. But then of course Ellasbeth will have to cause havoc in Trent/Rachel and also Newt will stop helping Rachel.
"love-triangle"; Al-Rachel-Trent... ;)
What do you think?

Veronica (readingonthefly) I personally don't see a love triangle forming between Trent-Rachel-Al and I absolutely loathe triangles so my radar is pretty sensitive. Sometimes it's overly sensitive in that I start immediately side-eyeing any character that I think is going to be the third wheel, lol. But the Hollows doesn't affect my triangle radar at all. Rachel cares about Al as a friend and mentor but that's all I see from that relationship. Besides, IIRC Kim herself who has stated on her site several times that Rachel doesn't love Al romantically. But really, I think Kim is just too good of a writer to fall back on that lazy writing cliche. She has way more imagination than that. :)

I agree, Veronica. I just don't see it. Rachel has said that she's not attracted to Al, and as you mentioned Kim has said on her site several times that she doesn't see a romantic connection between the two of them. I think it's Trent for her from here on out as a love interest. They will end up together or not. Kim said she will have a HEA but it doesn't necessarily have to be what we think.

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments Okay, so yeah I'm an idiot and no, I didn't know for this WHOLE TIME that Kim acknowledged me in the book. I only merely thought she hooked me up with an ARC for Ever After with that super awesome note. This has made my month. Thank you so much for letting me know! SUPER awesome!! Kim is so firmly rooted in my "#1 fave author forever" spot it's not even funny, ROFL.

Well those of us who know you also missed it so don't feel like too much of an idiot, lol.

Bringing over a little something from Kim's site...a reader asking for some clarification on Ever After:

Question: "1. In Ever After, when Quen says that Rachel will be what Trent needs, and then later that Trent would risk his life for Rachel, what did he mean by this? Was it something deeper than the original wish for her to look out for Trent when Quen wasn’t available?"

Kim: "1. Quen means that Trent loves her. Quen isn’t necessarily happy about it, but he recognizes it, and he’s bringing it to Rachel’s attention."

The bolding is mine...because I just think it's nice to read. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Isabella wrote: "I have been wondering about something: in Pale Demon when Rachel and Al are at Dalliance and Newt sends her away to Shift the reality; she overhears Newt telling Al that if Rachel ever has sex with..."

Newt told him if he slept with him she'd kill him (Newt), he scowled and said he knows that. Rachel thought it was interesting Newt was going to kill them if they slept together. It didnt mean Rachel would kill him, but Newt doesnt want them sleeping together, which irritated Al

The question why is interesting ;)? Why would Newt kill them?

Don't get me wrong, in the end it will be Trent and Rachel since that feels like it's the plan from the start. And I do like Trent.

message 93: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 4 comments Ok Ms. Harrison herself (via Facebook) has confirmed that the last book is about Rachel saving Ivy's soul:) I'm excited

Veronica (readingonthefly) While I want Ivy to get her soul back, I hope there's more to the last book than that. I'm kind of over the vamps in this series. I feel like they had their day in the sun, so to speak, in the first part of the series. I'm finding the demon/elf dynamics way more interesting.

I do wonder if it's only going to be Ivy who gets her soul back of if it will apply to all vampires. It would hardly seem fair if it were just Ivy. Then again, vampires are apex predators in the world of the Hollows so is it really wise to make such a drastic change to such a top-of-the-food-chain species and NOT expect it to have far reaching (and not always positive) ramifications?

message 95: by Isabella (new) - added it

Isabella | 24 comments I agree with Veronica!

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments At this point, I will agree to anything... Just give me the next book already!!

Cover is supposed to be released next week... If I can't get some hot elf action just yet, I guess it will have to do!

message 97: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 4 comments I think Rachel will save Ivy and it will apply to the race as a whole. Once they figure it out its just a matter of time before others are "cured" as well! That's what the master vamp has been waiting on all along, to see if it was possible and then probably apply it to his people.

Thanks for the info. I searched for it but didn't find it. Thanks anyways :)

Veronica (readingonthefly) Ale, I tried to look for it for you but I couldn't find it either. The only entry now showing for June 24th is about David Spade. I wish I could remember exactly what the line was but it was about Rachel looking out over a kitchen scene and wishing that she could hold onto it. Something like that anyway. Maybe someone else has a better memory than me.

Veronica (readingonthefly) Aha! Found it on her blog, The Drama Box! Here you go, Ale (and anyone else who missed it the first time).

From her June 25th entry: http://kimharrison.wordpress.com/2013...

"Barefoot and feeling a chill in the air, I padded to the kitchen, hesitating at the threshold. Normal. It looked normal, and I wished it was mine to keep, to see again and again like the slow repetitive feel of summer days until the fear was dabbed away."
