Pamela Love | 1510 comments It was published in 2011 or 2012. A girl's grandfather, in the early stages of Alzheimer's, must sell his home and move in with the girl's family, until a space is available at a retirement home. He doesn't want to sell it. The family lives in New York. The girl must move in temporarily with her older sister so Grandpa can have her bedroom. Both sisters are annoyed about sharing. The younger girl (who's about ten) wants a cell phone, but her parents say she's too young. One day, Grandpa and the girl go out without leaving a note. She doesn't know where they're going, but they wind up back at his old house. He's upset to see the "for sale" sign. She gets him to an old neighbor's house, who calls her family. She gets a cell phone after that. At the end of the novel, Grandpa moves into the retirement home, which is very nice.

Railyn (funky-rat) | 243 comments Don't know if this is it or not because I can't see the entire book under preview, but what I did see mentioned a grandfather with Alzheimer's, a house sale, two girls who were sisters, and a neighbor who checked in on the grandfather before he moved.

Figured it was worth a try:

Pamela Love | 1510 comments Thanks, but that's not it. I also remember that the book is told from the girl's point of view, in the first person.

Pamela Love | 1510 comments Yes, that's it! Thank you very much. I don't know how to move it to solved, though.
