Hey everyone,

As this is the second time this has happened, I thought it best if I bring this important matter to everyone's attention.

Please be very careful about where you grab an image to re-post on your threads.

It appears that innocent images are being grabbed from seemingly innocent sites. Then, after a few days, the person who originally posted the image to "Their" web page, is switching out the image with a "Not so Nice" image, using the same URL.

What happens...The Innocent image that you posted to your thread, is then automatically replaced with a "Not so Nice" image.

Again, as this is the second time this has happened within the past couple of months, I just wanted to make everyone aware of this important matter.

Hey, the last thing I would want to have happen is for someone to get in trouble because of some innocent posting.

Cause I care about you all 2 much :]

Message from the Goodreads Admin who deleted the image in question...

Yuck. I deleted it. You might recommend that your group members repost images they want to display in the group to web sites they trust. For instance, they could try using tumblr.com or posterous.com, both of which make it pretty easy to post images. Just a thought.

Hey Cats,

The picture in question was not upploaded by you. So I have no idea about the lemonade image mystery, sorry.

message 11: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) Pulls out magic eraser again. For anyone who needs it- pound your head on this magic eraser until the image is gone. If image persists- pound some more.

*drops it on the desk* enjoy!

message 12: by Elaine (new)

Elaine (caladhiel) | 1020 comments Yeah, sorry, I can't help you either, Cat. None of mine are changed either, but some of them are small little boxes with and X in them or "update to photobucket pro". Not sure what happened to those!?

message 13: by Paul (new)

Paul I hate to be boring, but you all, who post images, have a threefold problem:

1/ Do you own the image? If not, is it public domain? If someone owns the image, then you breach their IPR and any number of copyright laws by using the image without their explicit permission

2/ As Dee has nentioned, if you just link to a picture of a bunch of daffs and the owner of the website changes that image for that of a man getting intimate with a donkey, that is what will get shown here.

3/ This is meant to be a site that extolls the value of language - the written word - so don't bother with pictures anyway!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

uh oh . . . I think i'll stop with the pictures, no matter how much I luv to post them.

message 15: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) paul u hv a point. but pictures ARE worth a 1000 words ^^ just make sure that you guys are being smart about the pictures you post and it should be okay.

message 16: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) Given the choice between a motion picture and the book with the 1,000 words- I'll take the book anyday! That said however, after I read the book I'll buy the movie too. :)

message 17: by Paige (new)

Paige Miller | 4362 comments I agree with Wendy.

*Sighs*

I'll try not to post pics anymore.... :(
