Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i finished up The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society last night - overall I liked it, but I wish there have been more focus on the society itself, it seemed a bit disjointed in a few places - but a cute read overall

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hi Amy I finished my third pick today, Nerds Are Freaks Too. It was cute, I just wish it was more. it seemed too rushed for me. But, it had some funny moments.

I'm not sure where I'm going to go next. I think I may try Tangled since a few other people have read it this month and have liked it.

message 463: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments Jane, just finished my 4th PIFM, The Breaker's Concubine by Ann Mayburn . 4 stars! I really liked it and hope that the author will make it into a series. Actually interested in the premise and the eventual downfall of the evil-doer. Not to mention the empress would make a good story!

Wow Elke, you went a little crazy this month - I'm glad you enjoyed your picks! I kind of lost track of things and had to go back through to see what you'd read - I really need to get the ones I haven't already read moved up higher on my TBR! :D

message 472: by Raquel (new)

Raquel Braido (rachbraido) Hey everyone! I'm gonna update what I read so far :)
I already told Bre, but I'm going to post here as well.

That was it so far ;)

Amy J. | 349 comments Joyce,

I finished my first pick: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen . I absolutely LOVED it. Such a great story. I have to be in the right mood to enjoy magical realism. And today's dreary weather was such a perfect back drop to this book.

Thanks for encouraging me to read it.

message 474: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Hi Paisley, I don't think I've updated what I've read yet this month... Oy, things have been crazy!

I read Bunny and the Bear but I started before the first so it technically doesn't count. I enjoyed it and gave it a low 4 stars. I also read It Had to Be You. It was also a 4 star read for me and if it had been written by someone else it would have been great, but I was expecting a little more from Jill Shalvis in this one. Most of the books in this series have been 5 stars for me, but I didn't love this one. Still very good though. Let's see... I read Blue Notes and liked it a lot too. I am currently reading Making Promises and am loving it! I'm hoping to get to more this month, but time is getting away from me. Several more with be going on my TBR or wishlist - this challenge is dangerous that way!! Thanks for the great picks this month!

You are so fun to pick for! I am glad you found so many you liked. I have read other Kate Pearce books and enjoyed them, but I think that was the only contemporary novel. The Simply series is historical and Planet Mail books are very light sci-fi, but fun and scorching hot.

I am so glad you liked it - I felt the same way - it took me awhile to pick it up after finishing KPR because my heart couldn't stand going through that again but it was so less painful to read than KPR.

MountainKat | 31598 comments Breann wrote: "I loved Making Promises! Even more than KPR. Did you listen to the audio, MK?"

No, I read it. I was going to listen, but I'm a little backed up with audio this month. I'm not getting a lot of listening time... Struggling with the reading time too. 8/

Did you listen? Was it good? I'm going back and forth about listening to the next one.

message 489: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments It was one of the best audiobooks I've listened to! I don't know if it's the same narrator for #3 though.

MountainKat | 31598 comments Breann wrote: "It was one of the best audiobooks I've listened to! I don't know if it's the same narrator for #3 though."

I think 2 and 3 were the same, but 1 was different. But I would have to check to be sure. Thanks for the feedback, it helps with the decision on which way to go!

ETA: Yes, Paul Morey narrates both 2 and 3, Sean Crisden did the first one.

message 491: by Carla (new)

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Arena--I just finished my third PIFM book this month, Night Road by Kristin Hannah . I had mixed feelings about the book--I didn't like the beginning and middle, but loved the ending. Thanks for the recommendation and for getting me to try a new author.

message 492: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments I finished my second book:Something from the Nightside. It was interesting, but I kept comparing it to the Greywalker series. Same basic premise. I didn't feel a strong connection with JT.

That seems to be an issue with all of KA's books, but it doesn't stop me from loving them. I got hooked on them not too long ago on a recommendation (thanks Melissa!!) and now can't stop reading them. The Rock Chick series is fun as well. Glad you found a new author!!
