She’s a little bit country, and he’s…not.

Arizona businessman and long-lost McKay love child Gavin Daniels has been awarded sole custody of his teenage daughter Sierra for one year. In order to steer Sierra back on track after a brush with the law, he pulls up stakes and heads to Wyoming, looking for support from his ranching family...even if he isn’t sure where they fit in

His name may be Gavin Daniels.. but HAWT DAMN he is ALLLLLL MCKAY!

Sierra gets herself into a bit of trouble with the law and Gavin decides it’s time to move to Wyoming.

We have learnt In the last few books, Gavin is the eldest son of Vi and Charlie that was adopted out without anyone knowing about him.

The hardest reviews for me to write are for the books I absolutely adored. And I absolutely adored this one! So this review might be all over the place...

I'll confess, after reading the last couple of Rough Riders books, I didn't exactly have high hopes for this one. While mostly good (but not great) I was starting to feel that maybe the Rough Riders series had run its course, and that the Black Top Cowboys series was going to eclipse it. But hold on now, I think Lorelei James is back in the gam

5++++ Stars

This is probably the hardest review I’ve ever had to write because this is a huge release into a wildly popular series and it’s about someone who until two years ago didn’t even know he had this crazy, huge, but loving family. It’s hard because we are nearing the end of this series and because of that I read this book with a different eye and had such a difficult time not crying through the whole thing. It’s hard because I want to

I've said it before and I'll say it again, LLJ can take the simplest of story's and make them totally WOW me. This book was no different than the rest of the Rough Rider series except the heat level was not as high. In this book we had the hero, Gavin's, 16 year old daughter under foot so it was really hard for

This was a real departure from the typical Rough Riders series. Not nearly as much focus on sexual hijinks and more attention paid to the story.

When I started reading this I had a lot of reservations. The last two books -- three books, really -- were fairly disappointing. It felt like LJ had decided at some point she didn't actually like the McKays all that much and there was this negative undercurrent running through all the books.

I was also nervous about the female lead in this one. Reille Wet

Fabulous, delicious, swoon-worthy, and just flat out fantastic read. Love these McKays!

I seriously loved this book. Apart from starting a 14 book series on book 14, it was such an enjoyable read! The series is based in Wyoming around a ranching family, the McKays. This family is huge. Each book is a different family member so when they had a bit of a reunion, I was like, "Um, I'm thinking starting at ground zero would've been less confusing." But anyways.... I can't wait to back the hell up and hear how this clan began.

This is the story of 43 year old divorced, uber hot

This was interesting, to say the least. I really enjoyed this story, getting a single dad and a single mom and having them see each other as more was really sweet.

Gavin is yummy in all the ways. He is the adoptive son of the McKay’s and has come home from Arizona with his daughter.

Rielle has been living in Gavin’s house for the past 6 years keep it running so when Gavin and his daughter come to town they have to share the house.

That faces everyone with challenges and havi

Once again the author of the Rough Riders series delivers. I have a hard time keeping up with all the McKays and West family members but as long as the current story holds my interest, I don't mind. Gavin Daniels is the love child of Charlie and Vi McKay. He moves to Wyoming with his daughter Sierra to try to give her a fresh start and for him to get to know his blood relatives that are as abundant as the stars in the sky. The author did a good job of dealing with the awkwardness that comes with ...more

Gone Country is a bit of a departure from the how the Rough Riders series has felt so far. And I loved it. It was nice to take a step back from the McKay craziness and see it all through a new family member’s eyes. Gavin is the son that was given up for adoption. He’s back in his birth family’s town with his teenage daughter who’s giving him some teenage angst. Gavin hopes the change of scenery, pace and being around family helps Sierra fin

3.5 stars, but let me explain why.

Let me just say this was a good book, but then Ms. James rarely ever disappoints. I have to admit, I am anxious for the future and the book about Boone and Sierra (obviously when they are older). Quite frankly, they were the main reason I stayed interested in the book. As for Gavin and Rielle, well, theirs was a sweet romance, although they are the very reason I didn't give this book more stars.

First of all, at the very beginning, the impression that was given
A McKay who DOES NOT show his douchebag moment. WOW. I'm shocked. I chalk it up to the fact that he is older than the rest and has a teenage daughter, hence no time for douchebag moments. Gavin Daniels is seriously awesome and delicious. What a great dad. What a great person. What a great lover! I have to admit that I chuckled hard when I read that he bought a bunch of how-to-be-great-in-bed books and counseled his younger Dom brother Ben for advice on sex, but apparently it paid off. "It was ok" perfectly describes this book. I've read every other book in Rough Riders series and I enjoyed each on a different level, and I didn't feel like they got worse or got better in a steady level. Each book had its own merits. But I did find that this particular book was lacking what the previous 13 had. I kept kind of waiting for SOMETHING to happen...but nothing did. There was really no major conflict. And as cliche as it is, I do like that token conflict/issue that you find in romance ...more

This story was so different than the others and more of a contemporary romance in my eyes. I love the timeline of her story in months giving you updates of the evolving relationships Gavin and Rielle have gone through and all the other relationships in the story. Love the updates on Keely and Ava. YAY! I hope that Sierra and Boone get a story in the West series. Read this on my trip so it will forever be connected to my first visit to Epcot. LOL

Fourteenth in the Rough Riders romance series. The couple focus is on Gavin Daniels and Rielle Wetzler.

My Take
Although Rough Riders is an erotic romance series, this particular story is more romance---and an older couple romance at that! It was a treat to read a story about fairly normal sex, and the first one in this series to focus on an older couple and their body issues. Although I did appreciate Gavin's practicality in asking Ben for advice about sex, LOL. Nor is he the only one asking for

I wasn't even sure if I wanted to read Gavin's story right away (he didn't wow me) but I saw a few good reviews and ohmigod am I happy that I gave it a chance. Gavin is mature in a way that SO many of the Wild McKay's are not. And Rielle could get on my nerves but that is just HER. They were both so well developed and so well portrayed. They made sense together and their relationship wasn't forced. Their kids are a huge part of their lives and they didn't just get mentions. The daughters were bo ...more

3.5 star book.

I have to say, I think this was one of the most realistic depictions of a relationship I've read in a while. Divided by months, the book documents the growth of the relationship between Gavin and Rielle. Both characters are older than your typical romance as Gavin is 42 and Rielle is 40. This is not to say that they're not just as hot and heavy or less passionate than a younger couple. The plot here was less about 'finding themselves' and more about adjusting their lives to includ

Gavin Daniels...boy was I bummed when I seen he had the next book. But I should of never doubted Lorelei James...Gavin was just as hott as his McKay brothers & cousins!

I really liked how there was mention of all the other McKays & Wests throughout the whole's nice to get little updates on them. And to see some of the little McKays growin up...aww. Ky was always one of my favorite little men.

I loved the story of Gavin and Rielle. But I especially loved the side story of Sierra and Boone and really hope someday they will have a story.
It was great to see past McKays as always. I also liked how this story progresses over a year and shows the growth and problems Gavin and Rielle have to deal with and overcome.
I haven't read a McKay story yet that I don't love and this didn't disappoint. It was also nice to read about older characters instead of 20 somethings.

This book is all about DECISIONS.

Decisions that make you happy.

Decisions that affect those you love.

Hard decisions.

Life changing decisions.

A few years ago, I honestly did not care AT ALL about cowboys, bull riders, barrel racers, saddle bronc competitions, cattle and live stock, being a rancher or two stepping until I read a book by Mrs. James. My love for the all American tradition of cowboy life is all because of her.

Let me start by making clear that I love Lorelei James’s books. EVERY. SINGLE

What a spectacular book. Lorelei James has once again outdone herself and raised the bar for storytelling excellence. This was a combination of several romances set against the beauty of the wild Wyoming countryside.

There are so many reviews here already, so I'll save you the synopsis and cut to my observations and appreciations.

Here are the romances:

Gavin Daniels has had a lot on his plate lately, as the long lost son of the McKay’s he is trying to establish a fragile bridge with his new found family, his daughter Sierra has taken teen angst to a new level, and on an unexplainable whim he bought part of Rielle Wetzler’s land that had been coveted by the McKay’s for years. Trying to stop the constant carousel of trouble where is daughter is concerned, he uproots them from Arizona to Wyoming.

Talk about opposites attracting?! And then colliding in some smokin' hot country lovin'! Not your usual Rough Rider novel in that while our hero is a McKay, he's no cowboy. But that doesn't matter when he decides to take what he wants! Rielle is no cowgirl either, but she is all country. She is the daughter of hippies and single mother of an adult daughter (who I suspect we will be seeing again!) and she has never had the freedom for a relationship or to do much of anything other than

This was a bit of a departure from the series in that the couple - Gavin and Rielle - are older with children. It's also more family oriented, at least in my opinion, than other books have been. Oddly enough, even though I liked both characters, I didn't really feel any zing between them. Gavin is early 40s and Rielle is 38 but they both felt so much older to me. Not that that is a problem, being 44 myself, but I usually expect a little more wow-factor from LJ. Still, this was not a bad read.

This book was so much better than the previous two books in the series. Now this is the Lorelei James that I love. Gavin and Rielle's relationship was very authentic. When Gavin and Rielle fought their reasons were valid, not contrite. The sex was hot. I didn't feel like they got together just to have sex like I felt with the previous book's couple. It was nice to see that Gavin wasn't this super macho sex machine and had insecurities himself. And I love that Rielle did not want to swallow autom ...more
