I'm currently reading NOS4A2 by Joehill and its amazing. Also, have you read The Beach by Alex Garland or A Simple Plan by Scott Smith? They are among my favorite books and they seem to fit your horror/thiller bent. Give them a look if you haven't already.

Nice choices Ryan I will be buying Joe Hill's book next week on release and I agree with your view of A Simple Plan...one amazing book and I read it many years ago on first release.
I'm so jealous, Trev. Hill was at a book signing a few hours from my house a month ago but I couldn't make it. I've enjoyed very thing he's written. My favorites are his comic book series Locke & key (which is close to finishing up) and his short story collection 20th century ghosts.
Yes I am really looking forward to meeting him, we very rarely have the pleasure of meeting Horror authors here in the UK. As well as signing ( I will of course bring along my hard copy of Horns and have it signed to!) he is holding a question and answer session, and I have my question all ready :) I will bring the camera and hopefully get a snap and naturally post on HA. The day is Wednesday 29th May and just after I finish work I will wonder up to our local book store "Waterstones" and meet the great man...
I'll look forward to seeing the video. He's one of the few authors that I try a read all he's works. For the most part I jump from author to author and genre to genre but for whatever reason Hill draws me in.

I read Devil all the Time last year and really enjoyed it. Have you read the Harrowing or The traveling vampire show, also good reads. Books I've read this year that I've really enjoyed are What dies in Summer by Tom Wright, The Last Kind Words by Tom Piccirilli, and Await your Reply by Dan Chaon.

In the last week or so I just discovered a few new authors...Richard Schiver, Joseph A. Turkot(both write short stories and novellas) and J.G. Faherty, and I've enjoyed my first reads with them. Also loved Adventureland which I read a few years back.
I'm not sure if there is a separate thread for the genre I'm about to ask for recommendations in, but I love post-apocalyptic horror like Bird Box by Josh Malerman, or just post-apocalyptic fiction in general that doesn't involve zombies. I also really enjoyed Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and am totally making my way through The Children of Men by PD James. Does anyone have any suggestions for "If you like...then you might like..." for those books?
If you're still looking for a good series to get into, World's Scariest Places series by Jeremy Bates is a favorite of mine. There are about five in the series and Suicide Forest is the first. Did not end the way I expected and I admire Bates being able to make you feel like you were in the forest with the characters. I know the movie The Forest (no relation to the book, it seems) will be out soon, but I would definitely read Bates before seeing it.

Hopefully that gives an idea of my tastes and I look forward to some recommendations and a way to get me out of this no mans land I am now in...with no book that I want to read and we all know as avid readers we cannot stay like this for very long :((
