Do you think that what Jack Will said to Julian about August on Halloween was okay because he didn't actually mean it?

I think it was not okay and was really mean. Just because whoever you're talking to (supposedly) can't hear you doesn't mean you should make fun of them to look cool.

It wasn't okay, but, because what they'd had before was a real friendship (or at least the beginnings of a real friendship), I would've taken the apology. Jack Will said a stupid thing for a stupid reason -- something almost every one of us has done at one point or another. He realized his mistake. He paid for it by Auggie rejecting him for a time. He apologized. Real friendship can withstand a little stupidity on either party.
No!!!! Say what you mean and mean what you say! I also hated the apology scene.
I agree with Zoe! I hated the apology scene too!!! I don't know why Auggie went so easily back into being his friend. Maybe he was desperate, but I would never have anything to do with Jack Will again!
