Caimh McDonnell's I Have Sinned - awesome! This is the second book in the Bunny McGarry trilogy and I can't wait for book 3. I will have to gather some patience since it only comes out next year...

Reading atm:

Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...), which is incredibly good. So imaginative.

Grant Michaels' s A Body to Dye For. I had such high hopes for this one... It's full of typos (well, two or three typos that recur consistently, but still), which is distracting. I could get over that if I really liked the MC, but I can't stand him. (view spoiler)[It's the first time i read a story where an MC is trying to solve the crime by doing his best to pin it on someone just because they don't like that person (hide spoiler)]. So i'm debating DFN-ing this one...

However, I started AJ Sherwood's Jon's Downright Ridiculous Shooting Case, which seems promising, and there's a (republished) book by Jordan Castillo Price - Sleepwalker - which I haven't read yet and looking forward to.

I just re-read JCP's Sleepwalker. I have all of her shorter (and longer) books, including this one, but bought a new copy anyway. I like to compare original versions with updates instead of over-riding them. She does a great job with her covers, although I noticed that this new one isn't showing up on GR yet.

Has anyone else read her ABCs of Spellcraft (Quill Me Now, All That Glitters, Trouble in Taco Town, Something Stinks at the Spa) books? I was lukewarm about books 2 and 3 in this new series after enjoying the first book, but the fourth rekindled my interest. I'm particular/peculiar about what I find to be funny.

I'm reading the print versions, Volumes 1-3, starting with Monstress, Vol. 1: Awakening. I read the first in digital, but the artwork really deserves print. Beautiful and horrific.

I also read Stranger Things: The Other Side graphic novel which tells Will's version of the first season. (I binge-watched Seasons 1-3 last week.)

And I'm reading (for the first time!) Suzanne Brockman's three Troubleshooter books with Jules and Robin's story.

My library book group is reading The Rumor, by Elin Hilderbrand this month. Gossip and a ton of cheating spouses and I’m not sure how I’ll get through this.

If you are following O Human Star online I just wanted to say that it is going through pivotal moments. And it is so well done, and emotionally ''right''...

And also on the comics front: I finally started to read The Rabbi's Cat, lovely and witty.

There is also an animated film of the same name, see the trailer: the cat doubting the date of the creation of the world is a good example of the wittiness of the book, more than the mad adventures you see in the rest of the trailer.

Thank you for these graphic novel recommendations. I remember that we've talked about Monstress, Vol. 1: Awakening before, but I've forgotten it since and never got as far as reading it.

It's a blog for work, so it's obviously not a personal blog or anything. This year I'm sharing it with two coworkers, who were just given their own blogs, so come next year, it will be just me again, I think.

But we review queer fiction, which is a lot of fun. Next month I'll be reviewing the audiobook for Fadeout because it's an excuse to talk, again, about a favorite series that's not new.

Most of my blog reviews are pretty much the exact same as what I post here on GR though.

On a similar note, I've just finished reading Alexis Hall's The Affair of the Mysterious Letter and it is wild! It's very funny and very strange and very Holmesian. I loved it. Excellent queer fantasy Sherlock Holmes, if you're into that sort of thing. No romance to speak of and I'd say it's most similar to Prosperity in terms of it being an adventure story told in non-modern English. It's delightful.

I just finished the audiobook for Fadeout and absolutely LOVED it! The narrator was fabulous and I can't wait to get into the next one.

Now I'm reviewing it for the work blog and I've just done the math... this book came out almost 50 years ago! Holy cow, that's a long time ago once you really stop to think about it. This boggles my brain.

I've been on an fantasy/urban fantasy/paranormal summer binge. Of these (all 3.5-4 stars for me), Spellbound is the one I'd most likely recommend.

Great premise and truly creepy villain. MC's rigidity became tiring.

E. J. Russell's Supernatural Selection books: Single White Incubus, Vampire with Benefits, Demon on the Down-Low
Formulaic, but entertaining.

I have read some killer good things lately, including:

Cat Sebastian's A Duke in Disguise, which is a delightful sedition-themed queer het historical. Loved it.

Casey McQuiston's Red, White & Royal Blue, which is an amazing mainstream queer contemporary romance. I absolutely loved it and it's completely delightful. Funny and moving. Easy five stars.

After looking at MtSnow's pictures of her visit to the Warner Bros. studios just outside London, where the Harry Potter films where made, I decided to reread the first four Harry Potter books, and to read for the first time the other three.

I've just finished the first one, which I had bought and read in Dublin in summer 2000.

I usually make a pencil mark on the side when I don't understand a word in a book, to check it later. The interesting thing is that I found such a mark every some four pages, but now I know most of those words I didn't know 19 years ago!
