Ame recommended Adulting 101. I agree. It is a great book, and no dark tragedies around. Maybe the beginning makes the MCs look a bit shallow, but then it gets much better.

Adulting 101 was the first book i read by Lisa Henry, i think..., and as has already been said here, it's light and funny and wonderful. Not a cloud in sight. :-) And it has depth too! I adore it.

Finally started Around the Writer's Block: Using Brain Science to Solve Writer's Resistance!

I’m not far enough in it yet to know much, but she’s already quoted from one of my favorite books on writing, If You Want to Write: A Book about Art, Independence and Spirit, which made me realize its high time I reread that book, and relearn all the good things in it that I’ve forgotten.

Too funny. In my personal opinion, calling out those sections makes then stand out for the people who want them, and they are happy to see them called out.

Kirsten | 695 comments Hey guys! I am just popping in to thank you all for some recent books I've read thanks to recs and discussion from you all. I've been lurking for the past few months because of RL family and work stress keeping me from doing a lot of reading and seeing your discussions has prompted me to pick up a few of the books mentioned and actually finish and enjoy them! I might be over my slump. *crosses fingers*

Anyway thanks to you, I've really enjoyed The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish especially-- an easy 5-stars from me. And a couple of books featuring broody, grumpy policemen who can't seem to get along with their partners (I'm sensing a trend): Bone to Pick by TA Moore and Pretty Pretty Boys by Gregory Ashe. The second Ashe book is next up on my reading list. Thank you so much for the recs!

So far it's very good! I got frustrated this morning when I saw that someone else has put this book on hold at the library, so I had to trump them with my librarian card. lol. I'm not finished with it yet!

Haldis | 1288 comments I was on a Megan Derr spree and read The Heart of the Lost Star, The Engineered Throne, and The Painted Crown.....I didn't have any of them, but bought them up one after the other and totally consumed them. I want more, but I have told myself (rather sternly) to read some of the books on my TBR that I actually already possess.....like the first in the Nightrunner series and The Last Herald Mage series....
Sometimes it's hard moving on, even though chances are that I will enjoy these other books just as much....

I guess I don't want to say too much, but, among other occasions, there was a big nasty online argument last year where she said a lot of things that really put me off. Sometimes it's hard to separate an author's books from their online persona. Things that cannot be unseen, and all that. So it's a shame because I love reading fantasy and I have read a few of her books and I might read more if I weren't so conflicted.

WMD | 251 comments Hello
I have been very hungry for good writing in the action m/m zone...just miss after miss for me.
But today I can strongly recommend new book
When Death meets the Devil by L J Hayward.

Would put it up there on the shelf with
Josh's Dangerous Ground Series
Roux and Urban's Cut and Run series
Wiltshire's More Heat than the Sun Series.

My enthusiasm may wane a little as I reflect on it. I mean, first of all it is only one book..hardly equivalent to these other series...but I felt in a drought and was pretty pleased with this action/spy/intrigue refreshment.

Twisted and Tied Mary Calmes March 13
Hard Line Sidney Bell April 2
Paternity Case (Hazard and Somerset) Gregory Ashe April 6
Murder Takes The High Road April 23

Someone mentioned reviewing Hard Line, I think, on this thread...any thoughts to share?

Darlene wrote: "I've written down his name, though I must admit I know nothing about audio books."

If you're unsure about audiobooks, start with something you know you'll like. I'm always rereading/listening to books I've already read. Some of my all time favorites in audio are the Psycop series by Jordan Castillo Price. OMG, amazing narrator!

And of course, pretty much everything Josh has done, gets reread and relistened to multiple times.

Make absolutely sure you listen to the sample before you purchase anything! I've bought a few that I've regretted because either the story was bad, or the narrator butchered it, or sometimes both.

I love listening to books while doing chores around the apartment. It makes those things easier to do. But not everyone likes that. Go for a walk while you listen, or exercise.

And if you like books other than MM, check out your local library. They may have digital audiobooks, or books on CD, though they are not likely to have very many MM audios, which are mostly on Audible, I think.

Oh, and speaking of Audible, I think you can do a free trial, but you also don't have to get a membership, if you don't want to pay monthly, or won't be buying books that regularly.

Anyway, just some things to think about for anyone interested in audiobooks.

Thank you so much for the information. I have one other question. When you buy audio or it comes with the book you purchase on amazon, do you download that onto your computer, phone or ipod to listen to it? This is how naïve I am about this. There's no more cassette Walkman's!

Each of the options you named would work. I think the easiest is to install the audible app on your phone and download the book with the app and listen to it on your phone.

I use Audible and then download to Itunes and use my old Ipod. When you sign up to Audible, you get your first book free, so you can try one first and see how you like it. I also recommend listening to a sample first--it you don't like the narrator, it's hard to enjoy the book. As Jordan says, the library is full of excellent audiobooks on CD or digitally, so you could look there too if you don't want to pay anything. Good luck, Darlene. :)

I bought a used iPhone on Amazon just for the Audible app. But you can use your regular phone or iPad or whatever. If you do digital books from your library they will have other apps like Hoopla Digital or Libby by Overdrive.

In other news, I have bought used cassettes for my ancient cassette player. Or CDs. :-D Also, I do have one audiobook on record too, now that I think of it. Lol. Gotta have all the bases covered!
