Finished reading The Paper Magician tonight. It was good, not at all what I was expecting. I'm interested in the next book, though it won't get read right away, I don't think.

I'm going to miss seeing him, but Neil Gaiman is going to be here next Saturday for a big event! I'm almost finished with his narration. It's very good. I like his writing style. For a book about a boy with an evil housekeeper/babysitter, which has been done a million times before, this is awesome.

Next, I'm hoping to finish my therapy homework by next week. That would be reading Quiet, which I'm also enjoying, though I'm not quite halfway through it yet.

I am reading Sweetbreads and Sweet Nothings. It is about a man whose boyfriend arranges to be murdered and cannibalised. It is quite an interesting story but I cant describe it as romantic. It is classified as a bittersweet romance by DSP but it isn't really.

I've read the beginning of ''In Company of Shadows'' which he wrote with Ais, Evenfall. For sure it is gripping, but it had some weaknesses. I'm waiting to read the improved version, also available for free:Evenfall: Volume 1: Director's Cut to see how improved it is ;-).

And I recently gave 4.5 stars to Sutphin Boulevard.

Ugh. There was a case of that about 12 years ago in the general area where I lived back then. Courts struggled a lot with this case and I don't know if public ever found a moral consensus on the topic.

Yes - it is based on the events that happened in Germany. The author explains this at the end. I thought the story was good.

I'm reading Fish and Ghosts and it's my first Rhys Ford besides the story in Charmed and Dangerous and it seems far to preoccupied with sex which gets in the way of letting this be a good story.
I was just looking for a good ghost story as well as trying out a new-to-me author, but now I am reluctant to try anything else from Ford.

Well, IMO it was the same for the story in ''Charmed and Dangerous'' and for Dirty Kiss, the only other book I've read by Rhys Ford. But «too much sex» is one of my usual complaints, so my opinion is biased.

I guess I "can" understand some people having the desire to kill and mutilate. But I really, really can not ever understand how anyone can have the desire or the kink to be killed and mutilated? It's just beyond anything comprehensible.

Try Hainted by Jordan L Hawk. I got this for Halloween a couple of years ago. It was my first book by her. I don't remember if it had a lot of sex, just that it scared the crap out of me.

Thanks Loretta, I have actually read Hainted and Restless Spirits and Dangerous Spirits. All good and creepy. Enjoyed them all as I have enjoyed the other Jordan L. Hawk books. :-)

I am reading Jefferson Blythe, Esquire. I am very fortunate to have been given an ARC from NetGalley. I am also reading The Art of Dying by DK. I really like it too. It has a similar feel to Murder in Pastel with completely different characters and it is m/f. It was hard to track down a reasonably priced copy but I found one eventually and I am glad I did.

If you want a Rhys Ford with basically no sex please give Ink and Shadows a try. The story is interesting and beautifully written, she really knows how to craft a paragraph. I gave it 5 stars.

I found a new-to-me author, Christi Snow. I read FOUND AT THE LIBRARY https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... and I loved it. Likable, believable MCs and secondary characters. It's a keeper and I'll reread it often.

I should be starting Pantomime tonight! I'm reading it for another goodreads group BOM, but it also fits in with my carnival research for my nano novel, so it's a win win for me. :-)

I finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane on Friday night and really enjoyed it. Neil Gaiman does a fantastic job narrating the audio book and the ending was not at all what I was expecting, though I honestly didn't know what to expect.

I'm now listening to THYS in my Every-Other-Audiobook-is-a-Josh-book thing lately. So, AE, carnival book, AE, carnival book, AE... and so on and so forth. At least until the end of AE.

And I should be finishing Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking sometime today. It's a fantastic book, detailing all of these studies about introverted people. So fascinating. For example, introverts with an unstable family situation are more susceptible to colds and other illnesses than extroverts. And it's true. My coworker and I are a great example of both sides to that coin.

I started reading The Graveyard Book several years ago and for some reason never finished it. So, this is my first Gaiman book that I've finished and now I've also heard him speak. :-)

I just finished Truth and Consequences by Sarah Madison. It's the third book in the series and possibly my favorite one so far. This one deals with the guys' relationship and feelings maybe a bit more than the first two, although the mystery and suspense plot is still there too.
