Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book One is awesome! I absolutely loved it. It's Ginn Hale doing that big, exciting, wonderful fantasy stuff that she does so well and I just ate it up. It's all about Elezar (from Lord of the White Hell--remember him?) going to a faraway place and having adventures of his own. Magic! Disguises! Romance! The end of the world! And more. Javier and Kiram do show up and it's fun to visit with them again. Book Two doesn't come out for a few months, but the main action story of the first book concludes at the end, so there's no big raging cliffhanger or anything. It's a good place to pause and I'm super excited for the rest of it. Yay!

OMG, Alison, thank you! I've been biting my nails wondering if I can read this or if I'd have to wait for book 2. (I hate cliffhangers, and the one from Lord of the White Hell #1 was pretty rough.)

I hope you're right, Tracy! I don't remember being too worried at the end of Lord of the White Hell, so maybe I'm just not as tuned in to cliffhangers as you are. If you're really concerned, maybe wait for the second part. I'm okay with where it stopped, but it is in the middle of the story, and I don't want to set you up for a stressful wait! :)

I finished The Boy with the Painful Tattoo yesterday evening. It was so nice to be with Kit and JX again. Sigh...

Then I went back to Fever Pitch by Heidi Cullinan. It was also excellent. Bit of an over the top wedding at the end, but still fun.

Now I am reading The Dating Game by Jay Northcote. I like her stuff.

Another Place In Time - read the first two stories last week, by Tamara Allen and by Joanna Chambers and they were wonderful!

Finished my other book last night. The Rogue Crew by Brian Jacques. Didn't cry. Thought I might. I did the math the other day, that was the last book in a series I started reading 19 years ago! 19! One of my all time favorites too. And the last lines, while typical of this series, were oddly right for the last book Jacques would ever write. I just can't believe the series is over. It can't be, you know?

Anyway, I started TBWTPT this morning and I'm 4 chapters in and not wanting to put it down. But I must if I'm ever going to get to Tae Kwon Do this morning, er, afternoon now. Lol.

Don't know that it's my usual...I can't even call it a romance, and it's had me tear up a few times already...listening to an author I'd never heard of in .

I think the audio adds an interesting element, as each narrator is so matter of fact. It's not on audible, but at a new to me audio source called 'Listen Up' at http://listenupaudiobooks.com

In between travelling and TBWTPT, I also reads " Tørk ingen tårer uten hansker" (don't dry tears without gloves") by Swedish author Jonas Gardell about the HIV epidemic in Sweden in the 1980's. Heartbreaking and lovely and sad.

I bought the first book in the trilogy last winter, but haven't gotten around to them before now. They became a sensation in Sweden when they were published, and the TV series of the book gained an unheard of popularity. Which is strange but also hopeful, considering how Mr Gardell describes how society reacted when AIDS first were discovered. Not a beautiful story.

I finished Tamara Allen's Whistling in the Dark today and it put me in such a ridiculously good mood. What a great book. My evening was so rosy that I proceeded to put on sappy Christmas music and bake a cake. Still smiling.

I have been reading the 2013 Pulp Friction series which is about a group of ex-cops/spy types set in Atlanta. It is a collaboration of four authors and each author focuses on one of the men -
Lee Brazil … Chances Are – Aaron Chance and Rory
Tom Webb … City Knight – Marcus Prater and Ben Danvers
Laura Harner … Triple Threat – Archer and Zachary and Jeremiah
Haven Fellows … Wicked Solutions – Wick Templeton and Ned Harris

There are five books for each character and books were each released separately last year but I bought them as bundles. There is also a finale which ties the four series together but I haven't read that one yet. I think the authors did an excellent job of holding all the characters together and making the series consistent. I think I liked Haven Fellows character the best and Laura Harner's the least because I didn't really warm to her characters. It is a great series though. They have a 2014 series with a different set of characters and so I will probably buy the bundles next year. I don't think I would have enjoyed this series if I had read them as they were published but reading them as a set has been fun.

I own the City Knight collection, but haven't read it yet. I wasn't sure if all of the Pulp Friction series need to be read in order or if you can read each author's collection separately.

I am really enjoying The Understatement of the Year. It's about college hockey players at a fictional Ivy league school. It's the third in the series, but they are stand alone books. The first two are m/f but I really liked them, too.

I read them in order. I suppose you could read the City Knight ones on their own but you won't get the full story with the different characters. I think it is worth reading them in order.

I'm reading Publisher's Weekly again. I haven't glanced at a magazine in about five months, so I have a bit of catching up to do.

I tend to get anxious when I read to much industry-related stuff. I become aware of how precarious this business is, how much I'm not doing that I should be doing, etc.

Probably not great bedtime reading. :-)

I'm having difficulties in concentrating on any reading after The Boy with the Painful Tattoo. So I'm, once again, using Joseph Hansen as a bumper between Josh and other authors. And it's working. I'm currently reading Hansen's The dog : and other stories and liking it a lot.

The historical short stories - Another Place In Time - were a good buffer for me, almost done with that one, and now it's time for Ginn's Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book One. I haven't read fantasy in a while.

Lord of the White Hell and Lord of the White Hell These are the first two books. Same title. Lord of the White Hell Book One and Lord of the White Hell Book Two.

I'm now reading an ARC of my favorite YA author's next book Hellhole. She did it somehow crossword style, so I read chapter 1 and then found myself in chapter 4. And I went Huh? And after chapter 4 is chapter 7. This is going to be interesting reading!

I've been reading Another Place In Time, on and off. So many wonderful authors together! I loved the stories by K.J. Charles and Joanna Chambers in particular, but I have many more to read yet. I thoroughly recommend this anthology.
