Lauren (delgril92) | 12 comments I haven't set mine yet, but I have promised myself that I will have all eight of the books that I'm currently reading finished by the 1st of January 2014. It's a bad habit I know, but I am getting through them.

message 305: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (chaoslovesorder) Mine is 100 but I am up to 96 so far so I will probably up it next week, perhaps to 150

message 307: by Kaela (new)

Kaela (kaelamke) My goals at 50 im at 21. 19% behind schedule! :)

message 308: by Emily (new)

Emily (emily21) | 21 comments My goal is 36 that would be 3 books a month. I usually read A LOT more, but I recently got a new job and it's taking up my reading time :'(

message 309: by Megs (new)

Megs (magnus_pegasus) | 8 comments My goal for the year is 25. The counter tells me that I am 4 books behind, but I'm confident that I make up for it!

message 310: by Katie.g (new)

Katie.g | 129 comments Catching up now. I've read 22/44. Only 5 books (11%) behind!

message 311: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenjones83) i'm on book 17 of 30 so only 2 books behind.

message 312: by Santino (new)

Santino (tinoprinzi) 60 out of 80 books read, and I'm 11 books (13%) ahead of schedule! :-D, although I start University soon, so I don't think I'll be able to leisure read as much then!

message 313: by Michael (new)

Michael (lovechild) | 280 comments On book 49 of 54. Once I reach that will try and up by ten. I really would like to hit the 70's mark.

So far this year of all the book I have finished. I was bored by only two and hated only one.. Not bad out of 49. I hope it keeps ups.

message 314: by Denise Huntington (new)

Denise Huntington I'm 3 books ahead of schedule. I'm on book 35 of 50 for the year and will likely finish one book and start another by Monday. I couldn't finish two books I started -- they were horrible! -- so those don't count.

message 315: by April (new)

April | 1 comments I have my goal is 30 books so far I have read 12. I need to pick up that the pace a little bit!

message 316: by Brit (new)

Brit (britmeup) I've read 41 books out of my goal of 50. It says I'm 10 books ahead, or 19%, which is awesome because school is starting again, so I'll have less time to read.

message 317: by Coco (new)

Coco I just increased my how'll from 40 to 60. I only had 10 more to go which I found way to easy

message 318: by Marian (new)

Marian Ruiz My goal is to read 80 books in a year, and I've read 47 so far.

message 319: by Christine (new)

Christine Roberts I set mine to 200! I am doubtful I will read that many, but I wanted a high goal. So far two of my favorites have been "Life's What Happens" by Bob Kat, and "Little Children" by Tom Perrotta

message 320: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisaameek) I set my goal to 50 at the beginning of the year and I'm currently 6 books behind! I'm determined to catch up but I'm hoping to read at least 40 :)

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 1572 comments I raised my goal from 30 to 35 and I have read 20 books so far!

message 323: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 36 comments I set my goal for 24. Some of your goals are so much larger than mine, that I feel like a slacker!! I'm ahead of schedule, though, so I may end up reading more :)

message 324: by Naomi (new)

Naomi My goal is 50 books :) And the best books I've read this year are Heart of Obsidian and Safe Haven :)

message 325: by Eirini (new)

Eirini Robin (robinirin) I raised my challenge from 60 to 70 books (in the beginning of the year I had 40 books as a goal) and I have already read 51 books :)
I suppose I might reach 80 books until the end of the year!

Nicholas Sparks always casts a spell over me :)Did you already read one of his books? He is a really really talented author!
(I hope I didn't make any grammar mistakes - I'm from Germany, just so you know ^^)

Really? I'd love to hear from you when you read it :) I'm very interested in your opinion of the book, because I really liked it, as well as the other 2 novels I've read from him and the movies I'v seen. Did you like the movies?

I have seen several of his movies. "The Notebook" "Dear John" "A Walk to Remember". I like his movies. I will let you know when I finish the book.

message 331: by Angel (new)

Angel My goal to start was 24. Then I moved it up to 36. I just bounced it up to 50. I've been doing fairly well keeping up with my goals I really hope I'll be able to hit 50. I think it helps to have an actual number to focus on.

I've seen 'Dear John' just on monday on tv, a wonderful movie. Thanks, I'm looking forward to your mail :)

message 333: by [deleted user] (new)

I set 100 books as my goal, but I'm 14 books behind at the moment :( and am not sure I'll catch up. Maybe I'll power through some books in the next school holidays, I think it has a lot to do with the increased school workload.

message 334: by Chris (new)

Chris I have read my challenge -- set it too low for this year!! This was my first year and I forgot working for the library how many books I go thru in a yr!! So have my 100 read already!! read all over the board from mysteries to nonfiction -- so far some of my favorites have been books mentioned above Book Thief, A Paris Wife, The Cove by Ron Rash (love his books), for fun the Elizabeth Naughton paranormal romances.

message 335: by Irina (new)

Irina Constantin (therawscientist) I have 20 set just because I started like 2 weeks ago and I need to catch up with my reading. I hope to transform it into a habbit again and keep up with the reading.

Read so far 2/20

I started late too and set mine to 30, that was as off I think March...not doing too bad but may not reach it. I understand the trying to get back into reading, now that I am done with school, i am rather excited to able to do just that.... I am at 10/30 and still going!!! Good luck reaching your goal as well :)

message 337: by Cora (new)

Cora (missteacher333) | 106 comments Almost there! 9 to go. I got this ;-)

message 338: by Katie.g (new)

Katie.g | 129 comments I'm currently two or three books ahead. might up the number if this carries on. My favourite books so far are The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, its sequel The Well of Ascension, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The Emperor's Edge by Lindsay Buroker.

message 339: by Michael (new)

Michael (lovechild) | 280 comments I keep upping by ten so far at 57 and this current goal is 64. In the end I hope I can get to 75 by the New Year I would be ecstatic.

message 340: by Kat (new)

Kat | 84 comments WOW!
This is fantastic stuff guys! Sorry, I haven't updated you all for awhile, but just so you know our cummulative goal sits at about 16,670 books for the year! And based on everyone's comments, it seems like almost all of you are on track to finish your challenge by the end of the year! This is super exciting! I am so proud of all of you!

I can't wait to read some of your suggestions. The Book Thief is definitely on my list. Ender's Game was great of course. I'm not into Nicholas Sparks but I know that his writing holds a special place in many hearts. Kudos to everyone who is keeping up or ahead (especially with goals over 100 books!) and hang in there to those are maybe a little behind.

Check out:
Legend by Marie Lu
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
The Selection by Kiera Cass
45 Pounds, More or Less by K.A. Barson
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

Happy Reading!!

message 341: by Stephie (new)

Stephie (paginallena) Last year i´ve read 32 from 50. Since my reading pace is low this year I´m doing 25. So far I´m like 2 books behind so I hope I´ll get it.

Tess (books.with.tess) (bookswithtess) I've set it at 30, after upping it at least 4 times. :D I'm at 26 now, so it's looking okay...! Currently reading "Night film" by Pessl and it's HUUUUGE, so not super-confident. :D

message 343: by Justyna (new)

Justyna (yunia) I've set it to 36, but upped to 48, and I'm still ahead of schedule, so I'm feeling pretty confident. Unless I try to read Dukaj's "Lód", which is huge and difficult to follow.

message 344: by Cris (new)

Cris V. I've set it to 15, since I read like 5 books last year (pretty much ashamed of that) and I'm at a great pace, I've read 13 up until now :D

message 345: by Tracey (last edited Oct 16, 2013 05:40PM) (new)

Tracey | 90 comments It's a bit late for me, but I have been aiming for about 4 a month since my biggest time to read is on the subway to work. I've been keeping up pretty well at that pace. I'll keep better count in 2014.

message 346: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I keep upping my goal. I have it set at 52 now and I have 4 left to go. I have at least four more books planned before the end of the year, so I should be able to make it pretty easily. I started listening to audio books this year while I'm in car and that has helped to boost my book count. :)

message 347: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat I'm currently at 180/200 books read so far. I was really shocked when i saw that as I didn't think I'd read that many!! Shows you what happens when you're having fun.

message 348: by Yani (new)

Yani Bonifacio (yanibunini) | 1 comments i just started gettin back to reading books this year, around the month of June. And since I was already halfway through the year I set mine at only 50 books. Im currently reading my 26th book. yey :)

message 349: by [deleted user] (new)

I am! My goal is 70 books and I have already read 62 books. I have been participating in these book goals since I first made my account here two years ago. I am happy to say that I have finished every goal that I have set. The best book that I have read this year would probably be 'The Healing Spell' by Kimberly Little, but there are countless others that I enjoyed as well. :)

message 350: by Isabella (new)

Isabella (isabellabellab) Mine's 70. I'd like to read 100 but seeing as I'm always only on track or 1 or 2 books behind schedule i don't know if I can do that. I'll have to be pretty close to 70 before raising it again. It's a lot different from day to day how much I read. Sometimes I don't since I don't have time for reading before going to bed anymore. However if I start reading I will most likely finish the book in maybe a day or two
