The Perks Of Being A Book Addict discussion
2013 Reading Challenge

You should be proud that your reading at all. Many people aren't into reading at all. Going to work and school puts a lot of people off even more so I am proud of you. This is a challenge within what YOU are capable of and I think you are doing great. I am a stay at home mom and my MIL took my kids for a summer of fun in Texas so I was able to challenge myself a little more but I don't know if I could do 1/3 of my list if I was as active as you. I hope you make your goal. Good for you.

I have read an all time high of 9 books from one author: Dorothy Sayers. I read these books within a year, but I read most of them this year.
I have also been reading Brandon Sanderson, and I have enjoyed all 5 of the books I have read by him.
I liked the Way of Kings and the Mistborn trilogy.
Michael J. Sullivan is the other. I have 7 works by him this year, and I waiting anxiously for his next offerings. Ryria Revelations was very good.

My favourite read of the year is a re-read....the Hobbit.
My "new read" favourite read of the year is "The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow".

So I will start slow with 20 books, of course I hope I will read a lot more then that.

My favourite books from this year:
*Znachor/Professor Wilczur-Tadeusz Dolega Mostowicz
*One flew over the cuckoo's nest-Ken Kesey
*Eat,Pray,Love-Elizabeth Gilbert
Now I'm reading 2 books...so I'll be soon 36 books.Then,I want to read 64 books this summer! I really need some motivation!^^

So, I'm starting small. I have shortlisted 15 authors and decided to read one book by each of them by the end of this year. I will hopefully not only complete my goal, but even exceed it, God-willing. :-)
I'm currently reading The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. And more than halfway through. Quite enjoying it as well. ^_^
My list of authors-to-read for this year includes Tolstoy, Chekhov, Ayn Rand, Jack Kerouac and Hosseini among others...
Oh, and yes, I'd like to add that I read this book "The Strange Case of Billy Biswas" by Arun Joshi, an Indian author, earlier this year and loved it. It's about a man trapped in the web of the inimical social system and his unrelenting quest for self actualisation. It has definitely been my favourite this year. Much recommended. :-)

The books you read at college or for it counts to right.

Luck! All you can do is try and keep going!

That would be a great number to hit. Good luck.
I am at 35 so if I keep the same pace should hit 70 I hope.

I love The 7 Habits... Such a great motivational book!

"Clean Your Shelf" is a great idea! I swore I wasn't going to buy any more books until I read the many books on my shelf that I haven't read and then the bookstore was offering the buy 2 get 1 free and I ending up buying 3 additional! It's a sickness I tell you!
10 Books in 14 days is a lot!

At least I was able to reset it back to 60 and it kept how many I've read already.
My favorite so far this year is The Silver Linings Playbook.

My goal is 100 too! But half the books I read, I don't even mark. So i'm at like 14 books, when I've really read, like, 50

I started The Passage and had to move it to unfinished because I tried listening to an audio version and when it got the ongoing string of E-mails it was hard to follow by ear. I do want to ask is the book good enough to take another shot and read it instead?
That's what I did with The Steig Larson books and they turned out good.
