Breaking Point Buddy Read

Brooke and I are going to read the second book in the Article 5 series! We are starting Saturday May 18th!

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, or page #, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

I loved the first book and hope this one is just as good, I never really like the second I hope this will be an exception.

Okay, I'm 27 % in right now. (view spoiler)[ I suspect at this time that Cara is the sniper. I suppose for argument's sake, it could be Chase..he did disappear for awhile from Ember...but I suspect it's Cara. I love that Ember has turned almost a 180, and is trying to forgive Chase. She seems way less angry than she was in the last book. Maybe fearing for his life changes her priorities a little. (hide spoiler)]

Atleast she found out what happened with Beth--although I worry for Beth, she doesn't seem to know what she's gotten herself into! I have no idea what is going on with Tucker. I know suspect he could be the sniper...it would make a lot of sense. (hide spoiler)]

If its possible, I loved this sequel even more than the first book, Article 5. This was another heart-pounding, raw, and nail-biting adventure for Ember and Chase. The action just really didn't stop, except for a few emotional scenes between Ember and Chase here and there.

Things pick up right where we left off in Article 5, but things have gotten even more dangerous for Ember. There is a sniper out there that has been picking off officers. The government's top suspect is Ember herself. They have issued a Code 1 on her--which means they can shoot and kill at will, they don't have to bring her in for questioning. Of course, Ember is not the sniper, as she's been hiding out in the resistance headquarters. I have a few guesses on who the sniper is, but we'll get to that in a minute.

I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but things get blown to hell really quickly, so once again, Ember, Chase, Sean, and other friends are running for their lives again. Rumors are flying...and Tucker has joined the cause? I know, right? But he claims to know where Becca is...so against Ember's better judgement, he joins their group.

We do get to know Tucker and Sean a little better in this story. Ember and Chase's relationship makes huge leaps and bounds, but that's about it for character development. This is really a more action packed book. I did suggest I might know who the sniper is. FYI, we never find this out before the end of the book, although Ember thinks she's figured it out. Her prime suspect is mine: Cara. She's always hiding something, and she disappears for hours at a time. I also suspect it could be Tucker, since he was dishonorably discharged a month before the events in the story. He definitely has the capability, and is pretty crazy! I guess we'll find out!

The focus of the story is really finding out what Tucker knows, and for Ember, Chase, and Sean trying to find Becca. Things get complicated though..especially when they hear a rumor that Ember's mother might be alive and in charge of a safe house in Ember's old home! I can't really think of anything I didn't like in the book, and I'm super excited for the release of the final book! (hide spoiler)]

Just finished. I gave up on the audio about halfway and just read the rest of it. SO much better! The narrator was ruining it for me.

Action, action, action! I don't feel as invested in Ember and Chase and Billy and Tucker and Cara and Wallace and Sean - but having said that, I did care about them.

(view spoiler)[I was sure the ending would be a cliffhanger, and was so glad it wasn't! I'm sure Tucker is hiding something having to do with Cara and I'm not even sure she's dead. I do think Chase's uncle might be the sniper. I think he may have abandoned Chase so he could work with the Resistance. And how cool is it that the cover is the safe house at the coast?

The scenes between Ember and Chase finally got less frustrating - I hate it when teenagers can't communicate because they're so proud! Or confused! And I was happy to see that Ember wasn't so brainless and impulsive. She seems to have matured, and Chase now can care about her without feeling like he has to watch her endlessly go off half-cocked.

Loved Rebecca and Sean. Especially when he winked at Ember when Rebecca didn't want help. (hide spoiler)]

All in all, a great book. Can't wait for the last one!

I agree, Jen, I think the reason I enjoyed this one even more is that Ember and Chase were doing so much better! Did you read the Chase POV scenes from Article 5? Last I knew, they were free to read on the author's website.

No, I didn't know about the Chase POV scenes - thanks!

Just read them. WOW. Simmons wrote that those scenes were difficult to write, and I believe it. It gives a whole new insight into Chase. Kinda makes Ember seem like a spoiled brat in Article 5 - and shows how much she grew up in Breaking Point.

I had a hard time starting this book and liked it but I think I would have enjoyed it way more if I had read it when all the info from the first book was still fresh.

(view spoiler)[ I know it is so wrong but I started to feel bad for Tucker, I know he was a bad guy but I don't know they way he was treated got real old. I really think Cara is the sniper and that Tucker knows and maybe she faked her death or she is the one who is ratting out the others. (hide spoiler)]
