Irene ~ Witchy Reads (witchyreads) | 560 comments Hello everybody,

I am just starting up with my bookblog, and there are some things I don't quiet understand yet. So here some questions for you:

What's a meme and how does it work?
What's a guest post, and how does that work?
Do you need to sign up with a host blogger for the above mentioned?
Oh yeah blog tours for books, I don't understand how that works either. Do you sign up and get the info from the blog tour host?

Thanks! It would really help me out understanding, and I will probably participate in some! :P

Meme's aren't just a blogging thing, it's described as something that many individuals know about- ie. viral videos, images that are passed electronically & in this context is a feature that people link up to with the intent of sharing & seeing other Internet users posts (ie. book hauls, poll link ups, topics to answer- ie. "Top Ten Tuesday") on the internet (OK, meme's are an internet thing- a fad in themselves!).

Guest Posts are written by someone else that doesn't normally post updates to your blog. There is more info on this in the applicable folder & here I believe. Just typing 'guest posts' into the search discussion posts features should help you see how it works ;)

There are host bloggers in a way for all those things- in meme's someone has created it & makes the link-up. They are the host but normally you don't have to ask to join in, just link up! They decide the topic & stuff like that. As above, guest posts differ a lot. Some allow anyone to submit something about any topic. Others have specific requirements before you post on their blog (or they'll post on yours alternatively). I've known some look for guest posts for VERY specific topics or reviews for a narrow selection of books.

Blog Tours also differ a lot. Some send out press kits to a certain selection of people first & then will post publicly about the tour & see what interest they get for their event/book. Just follow blog tour sites & you'll see what happens- you may end up touring with them & receiving information on other future tours. It depends how you want to go & depends on the tour creator also!
