New Baldacci Series

Actually Baldacci has 2 relative new series and they both are better than earlier works. Will Robie appeared in The Innocent and then again in The Hit. Both were good, action filled but and filled with people who think. The stories are filled with believable events and people, more so than his earlier ones.
Robie is an American Assassin. He works for a government agency who, among other things is tasked with eliminating the worst of the worst and Robie is the best of the best.
Another series has John Puller as an investigator in the Army's CID, who's job is to investigate military crime. It seems in the 2 books in the series so far, Zero Day and The Forgotten, that Puller's investigation tends to take him past his military obligations and runs over into the civilian area. Like the Robie series, Puller lives in a literary world that is believable, one that we can easily suspend our sense of reality and enter the world of crime and investigation that Puller inhabits.
Baldacci isn't a John Sandford as yet but he's certainly improved over previous work.

I liked The Innocent better than Zero Day. Zero Day seemed more like an attempt to duplicate Lee Child's Jack Reacher than a fresh idea.
I initially thought that The Innocent was a copy of the film "Leon". However it wasnt. Although there were elements from the film. The innocent was the first Baldacci book I read, and I enjoyed it. I agree I much prefer the 'current' series (Robie and Puller) over his older work like The Camel Club series.
I like both the Robie and the Puller novels, i can see why people think John Reacher is it? But they're totally different people.
I've read all the Reacher novels, i wouldn't stand for reading the same by a different name especially if that other name is Baldacci.
He's done far too many good books to be considered ripping Lee Child off.
The Camel Club series is great too.
Oh if you like Nicholas Sparks then give the Baldacci novel 'One Summer' a try, it's actually really good, it's a step away from all the police/assassins.

Recently finished "The Innocent" and have just started "The Hit". I like the Robie character and, so far, "The Hit" seems to be moving along at a faster pace than the first book. This might be, in part, due to my feeling at home with the recurring characters.
Love his series with Will Robie...never a dull moment and a quick read.
