message 665: by Anais (new)

Anais Torres (anaistorres) | 1 comments Hello,

My name is Anais, I'm the author of two books, The Art of Unpacking and Being Brave Again. Soon I will be releasing my third book titled The Reaper's Daughter.

My stories are about young girls who go are given a second chance to learn how survive after going through some of the harder things in life like, abandonment issues, falling into the wrong crowds, sexual assault and figuring out their identities.

My love for telling these stories stems from my curiosity about life and how people change people.

I am also a blogger for my website www.behindthepages.net, where I post all about my DIY Indie Publishing journey and life stories.

I am also a fan fiction writer. Please don't throw any stones! I am not a good writer by nature. I still wouldn’t consider myself a great writer but I am certain that I have vastly improved and years of writing fan fiction has played a part in that.

I'm hopping to gain more reviews, hoping to get more involved in the writing world and talk to people and network.

message 671: by Jason (new)

Jason Hubbard | 7 comments Hello, I'm Jason, hailing from Las Vegas, where the bandits don't cut your purse, they entice you to empty it with blinking lights and loud sounds. I'm the author of the self-published "Taming of Adam" series which is like Harry Potter meets the Columbine shootings. Okay, I know that sounds really bad, but my intentions were pure. I wanted to make a unique fantasy novel that's a little gritty yet life-affirming. You can check out a chapter here: bit.ly/1uv00HS

John Trobaugh (johnart) | 4 comments Hi All,
I'm John. I'm an artist. I created this book after seeing what was not available through Arts in Medicine programs. I designed the book with the current literature about the best types of images for patient and caregivers. I have been a member for a while, but am just now getting into the "author" portion. I look forward to learning more. I would love to figure out how to get more reviews on the site. It seems people like it in person, so maybe it is a matter of time. I will read here, but any advice for a coloring book author would be greatly appreciated! Healing Inspiration: A Coloring Book for Patients and Caregivers My favorite books as a kid were mostly about runaways! It seemed that I could escape and see new places through their eyes!

message 681: by Annie (new)

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Hi everyone!

*waves happily from Canada* This is my first post on Goodreads *gulps* I've always been an avid reader and writer every since I can remember. My (not so) secret soft spot is for dark erotica and wounded heroes *smirks*

I recently published my first romance novel, which actually started off as a random contribution to a fiction blog. But I'm a huge suck...so when readers asked for an ebook...I couldn't say no haha. Anyhoo, I'll do up my own proper post about that and see if *fingers crossed* anyone would be open to whipping up a review in exchange for a free copy.

And....I also tend to be long-winded...so I'm gonna stop before y'all kick me outta here. Looking forward to getting to know you guys (and girls)!

Yours,
Ann

Amy Flint | 2 comments Hi All

I love how Goodreads connects authors and readers from around the world!

I live in York, England, and although my background is in archaeology (Pompeii, and the British Museum), I now write paranormal mysteries.

I look forward to being a part of this group.

James Hockley (hockleyjames) | 5 comments Hi all,

This is a great idea for a group - nice work!

I'm James Hockley, and I am joining as both a reviewer and a writer. I work mainly in the fantasy genre.

As a reviewer I have been reviewing fantasy books (mainly indie books) and posting them on my blog (see link below) as well as dropping the reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I have a few books 'backed up' but I'd be happy to give other fantasy authors a helping hand and review their work, particularly if we can find a way to 'trade reviews'.
http://www.jhockley.com/epic-fantasy/...

As a writer, I recently released the first part of my epic fantasy trilogy titled Fear's Union. As you'll note, I am looking for reviewers who'd be interested in reading this. I can of course provide free electronic copies to anyone who is interested.

Great to meet you all, and I look forward to spending time here!

Cheers

Hi Everyone, I'm Alice Rene, the author of a historical suspense novel who is looking for reviews. I'd love them to be posted on Amazon as well as Goodreads. Please let me know if anyone is interested in reviewing my book and what format you'd like. It is a story about an unsuspecting girl who becomes involved with a man who turns out to be a stalker.

P.H.T. Bennet (phtbennet) | 2 comments Hi, Jackie, thanks for opening this door to connect authors and reviewers.

Thanks also to reviewers, whom I know to be avid readers. We authors love you guys!

I'm writing a trilogy of middle-grade fantasy adventure novels about dreaming. They were inspired by helping my daughters learn to tame their nightmares, fly, breathe underwater, and other things we can do in our dreams with practice. I was really, really frustrated by how creativity and imaginative learning in schools was being replaced by standardized testing, so I wrote these books to help readers learn more about their own dreams and how to improve them. Once I started writing them, they took on a life of their own and are taking me to some new and surprising places.

If you have any young dreamers in your circle or would like to receive a digital copy of the book to consider it for an honest review, (no obligation to review, naturally), please let me know.

Thanks again for the opportunity to connect with other authors and reviewers.

message 691: by Serena (new)

Serena James (serenajames) | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Serena. It's so nice to see so many people from all over the world! *squints into the distance* I see you over there, Canada! I'm writing from Australia :)

I'm an avid reader - mainly romance (the full spectrum from light to dark) - but I'm also working on my writing. My training is in neuroscience, so it's a big leap from dry academia! I currently only write suspenseful, erotic romance with a bit of BDSM thrown in; 50 Shades was so disappointing for me, so I'd like to contribute to a market that's a little niche, and kind of misrepresented. Safe, sane and consensual is our catch-phrase! (I'm looking for betas if anyone is keen?)

Anyways, nice to e-meet you all! I'm hoping to meet a few like-minded writers so we can bounce ideas and chapters around. If anyone is interested, please get in touch! :)

Serena x

Matt Woollard | 2 comments Hi all. I've been on Goodreads for a few years, but I'm new to the groups. I just self-published my first book (a dystopian sci-fi detective novel) and, like pretty much everyone else, I'm in desperate need of independent reviews... and readers.

message 694: by J.Z. (new)

J.Z. Dietz | 2 comments Hello everyone!

I'm JayZ and I'm an avid reader and a new Indie author. I love the idea of this group. I try and read other indie authors work and post reviews since I realize realize through my own experience how hard it is to get started.

I write erotica with a strong emphasis on action and adventure and occasionally with dark themes (currently I am working on a novella featuring a man eating plant). I also enjoy science fiction and fantasy.
