Anyway, please let me know if I missed anything up there. Thanks to Angus for creating the original thread last year! :)

Hi Hanna! Which book do you want to read?
If you are pertaining to the monthly F2F book, you may want to check the thread here the links to the ebooks/audiobooks are found in the first portion.
If you want to read a particular book and want someone to "buddy" read with you, check the reading buddy thread, a link is found in message 2 above. Have fun and hope to meet you soon!

If you are logged on using desktop mode, just click new comments, and usually you get alerted with a red number, clicking that will automatically direct you to the latest post.

Hi Tina--
I have written a book about a Filipino family that extends from the Philippines to Los Angeles. Is there a thread within the Filipino group by which I can request a review of it?
many thanks, Steve

Anyway, please let me know if I misse..."
Hi, Steve! You can create a thread under the Promotions folder to request reviews. :)

Steve :)

My name is Rain and I stumbled upon this group when I put the word Filipino in the Groups search box. Didn't think a group actually existed since barely anyone in my inner circle still use Goodreads ever since they created an account.
I recently got back to reading and I am hoping that by joining this group, I can get a different reading experience that will lead me to achieve my Reading Challenge this year. I've always loved reading but other priorities take over. I read a wide range of genre, may it be fiction or non-fiction. But my top favorite are fantasy, history, and humor. Top favorite authors: Neil Gaiman and JK Rowling.
Hoping I can meet some of you one of these days.

Welcome to The Filipino Group! The first thing that we recommend you to do is to drop by the Introductions thread and say hello. You may tell us a little bit about yourself and the books that you like to read.
We strongly encourage you to check out and participate in the other threads in the group. :) And join us in our monthly meet-ups!
Are there any rules that I need to follow when posting a message?
There are some rules that we need to consider to keep the harmonious relationship of everyone in the group. First, make sure that your post is not offensive. Be respectful, which means no personal attacks toward anyone. Also avoid unnecessary profanity. This group is rated G, and we have people of all ages around, so no pornographic materials (or anything similar) please!
The moderators have the right to terminate the offending person's membership in the group, especially if the person repeatedly fails to observe these guidelines on behavior and conduct despite the warnings. So always remember to keep it clean and fun!
And oh, please click the comment button only once to avoid spamming and flooding. And if it isn't too much to ask, please refrain from typing in ALL CAPS or in FuNkY cAsEs or in txtspk. It is not prohibited, but we strongly encourage you to type properly because this is easier on the eyes.
How do I avoid spamming and flooding?
Sometimes, Internet connection may be intermittent, causing duplicate posting of comments. In such cases, please click Delete at the lower-right corner of the duplicate message.
If you have already clicked the Comment button and you still want to add additional stuff, click Edit at the lower-right corner of the corresponding message. This is a better practice than posting a new comment.
There's a comment from another member that I'm a little uncomfortable with. What do I do?
Well, you can ask the person about it online, since we encourage a healthy discussion. However, if you feel offended about it, we don't encourage you to pick a fight online...because we don't want that, right? If you have any personal issues with other members, please course your discussion via PM and not in the thread. If you feel like they're being toxic to the group, then send a PM to any of the moderators so they can deal with them privately.
As stated above, the moderators have the right to terminate the offending person's membership in the group. The moderators also have the right to delete offending posts.
Oh, and one more thing: sometimes, it's better to practice The Art of Ignoring. Do not feed the trolls!
How do I delete a topic that I just created?
You may message any of the moderators for that request. Please understand that they may not immediately get to your request as they are also people with real life concerns. Nevertheless, your request for deletion will be granted.
Also, threads with no replies for the past 30 days, except for General topic threads, are moved to the Archives folder.
I would like to read a book with the members. How do I do this?
First, make an announcement at the Reading Buddies announcement thread. If anyone responds to your announcement, you may agree to any start date and pace, then create your own thread at the Buddy Reads folder.
How are the books of the month selected?
These are selected during F2F Discussions. Attendees vote for their choice in the nominated books, which are picked by the moderators. Each vote on the F2F discussion is worth 2 points, and the winner of the offline poll is considered the first winner. An online poll will be set up for everyone in the group to vote, and each vote on the poll is worth 1 point. Points are added up from the offline and online poll after the voting period, and the book with the highest total votes will be the selected book of the month.
There are more details in the General Thread for F2F Discussions.
What are F2F Discussions?
These are offline face to face discussions of the books of the month. A volunteer discussion leader facilitates these. Online threads are created both for members who cannot attend these events and for the preparation of the culminating offline discussion.
I am not from Manila but I still want to be active in this group. How can I participate in the club's activities? Can you hold an activity in my area?
For F2F Book Discussions, we always have an online discussion happening for the month, so you are always welcome to join in. You can also create a thread for your city/province/region/country in the TFG Regional Lounge so you can find fellow members in your area.
As much as we want to be able to tour the Philippines and have meet-ups with everyone everywhere, we can only do so much. So while we wait for someone to make teleportation possible, we shall make use of the Internet! If you happen to be in Manila, however, and you want to meet-up, feel free to attend any of the F2F book discussions and/or Non-F2F meet-ups! We'd love to meet you. :)
What is HOHOL?
It means Hang Out-Hang Out Lang, because that's what usually happens when TFG members meet up randomly or after the F2F discussions. This is also known as the palengke meet-up.
What is TFG 100?
The Filipino Group's 100 Favorite Books is a list of books voted and deliberated by the members. This is headed a committee nominated and selected for the purpose of managing the polls and compiling the results.
The list is revised every two years to give room for recently published books.
I'm a new author and I just released my first book - how can I be added to the group's to-read shelf?
Well...unfortunately...you can't be added there unless your book is chosen for a monthly discussion. The moderators of the month are in charge of picking the books for discussion, so you may ask them about it, but usually they have a books already pre-selected. You can, however, create a thread in the Promotions folder to request for reviews.
