30-day Challenge! - Day 3: What is your favorite (book) series?
This is hard. I will go with something that I like and have read the most books in. The Sookie Stackhouse Series
Kat wrote: "Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. I've read the books so many times I wore them out."I read the first few books and really loved them!
I don't often read series, but I've read all the Cadfael books, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder "Little House..." series. Oh, and I intend to read all of Susan Hill's "Simon Serrailler" books, though I'm reading them in the wrong order, having come across Book 3 first.
Harry Potter of course. Hunger Games seems good, but have read only the first book, so can't say it yet. :D
Honestly I have to go with Michael J. Sullivan's Riyria Revelations. 5 stars all around. This was a surprisingly amazing fantasy series. The prequel comes out this August, I can't wait!
I think, by definition, if you read a series, you like it a bunch ;-). That being said, I'd have a hard time picking a favorite. I've read a few mentioned here. I guess at the moment, I absolutely adore Debora Geary's Modern Witch/Witchlight/Witch Central series. It started as A Modern Witch series, and keeps branching and growing. She is still currently producing it. Them. Whichever ;-). I absolutely LOVE the world and characters she's created.
My favorite is The First Americans series written by Wm Saraband. If you like early american books, these are great. The first four in the series are my favorite and are of one family who become legends in the follow up books. These are quite barbaric in nature. I was surprised to learn after reading the 10th book these were written by a woman using a surname-Joan Lesley Hamilton Cline.
Neal Stephenson - The Baroque Cycle, and throw Cryptonomicon into the mix as well. What a trip, with characters that stay with you for a long time. Patrick Ness "This isn't a book; it's a place to move into and raise a family."
May 3rd: So many wonderful series to choose from. I would have to pick The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset
Tough one, there are so many good ones on my shelves - perhaps Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time Series.
i'm a big fan of series books as a whole, so i'll mention the first one that i became attached to as a 20-something adult: Four Sue Grafton Novels
by Sue Grafton
Favorite series: Harry Potter Boxset
I am now starting the Outlander series and am hoping it will become a favorite as well.....

Just checking in to say that I don't think I have ever read a series...I did like Det är Lotta, förstås! and Tiina series as a kid but I didn't think of them as series, the same with Sherlock Holmes.

Joseph wrote: "This is easy...Lord of the Rings"But is that a series? I have always just thought that it is just one novel in three volumes.

I thought the same thing...that it isn't truly a series. But others went with it.
If you want a true series, I have to go with the Dirk Pitt series by Clive Cussler. It's a sort of guilty indulgence...great airplane read.
The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett
