Laurin (llooloo) So many people LOVE this book, but I didn't really like it, to be honest. Maybe I would have liked it better had I read it in high school (like most people seem to do), but picking it up as a college student.... not really my thing I guess. I am going to see the movie, because it looks really good.

Ava Catherine I have read this book so many times, and I fall in love with it each time I read it. I must admit that I love the art and culture of the 1920s, which may have something to do with my adoration of Fitzgerald.

Francesca Caruso | 1 comments I first read Gatsby on my own a few years ago, and it was okay the first time I read it. It seemed kind of pointless because of the ending. But after finishing it for the second time with my English class I understood so much more about the whole idea of the book. I enjoyed it a lot the second time.

Teri | 23 comments I read this some years back and I've got to be honest, I just didn't love it...or really even like it. I mean, I finished it and there were aspects I could appreciate, but as far as something that I loved or wanted to see or reread, this story was just...not for me. Everyone I know is super thrilled about the movie, but I can't conjure up any enthusiasm. I may try to pick it up and reread it this month, maybe my opinion will have changed with my old age!

Laurin (llooloo) Saw the movie, so much better than the book.

If we're talking classics, I'll take 1984 or Catch-22 over Gatsby any day.

Laurin (llooloo) No, I did not. But you could tell from the way it was shot that it was meant to be seen in 3d.

Laurin (llooloo) No, I have not. I want to, I'm a fan of Sam Waterston.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ I have read this book when I was in college. I had to read it for 2 of my classes and liked it the first but then it got annoying the 2nd time.

Gabby | 1 comments I read this book in high school, and although it was a decent book, it was very slow. I do not know how for some people this is their favorite book.

Laurin (llooloo) Gabby, I feel the same way. Decent book, but in no way a favorite.

Karen Rock (karenrock) Nick is a tough narrator to like and with the book told through his eyes, the story itself becomes almost unlikeable too... but I think Fitzgerald made this choice on purpose because he despised the people he wrote about and the life choices they made and he wanted us to feel the same revulsion. There isn't a single character in the book that I truly like- Daisy, Tom, and even Gatsby are terrible people. Gatsby holds on to hope but it's really his insecurities that he's not good enough, no matter how much he makes, that makes him hope for a second chance with the only girl in the social circle he wants desperately to join who has ever loved him. Everyone's motivations are suspect! That's my two cents :)
