I would love to talk about The Invention of Everything Else by Samantha Hunt. It was such an amazing book and I don't know of anyone who's read it, so I can't talk about it!
May we add a folder for Veronika Decides to Die by Paul Coelho?I am really curious if anyone else has read this one. I'm about halfway through, and it's very different from The Alchemist. Very different...
Oh I'd like a folder for "Veronika Decides to Die" too! I read it just a few months ago. Personally I preferred it to "The Alchemist". Has some very interesting concepts in it.
Yay, Joey! I'm glad to have found someone who read the book. I should finish it this weekend so I can't wait to discuss it. Does your version have an interview with Coelho in the back? He also had a Q&A on another thread about his books. I'm going to read the Veronika one once I finish the book.
Thank you, Sarah! I'll be posting some thoughts once I finish the book this weekend. I can't wait to see the opinions of others who have read the book.
I read both the Alchemist and Veronika Decides to Die... loved them both. Look forward to discussing them with you guys!I'd love to talk about Wicked by Gregory Maguire! I am rereading it now and I just love it! I am fairly new to the group so I don't know if you guys already discussed this book. Thanks!
Mona, all discussions are open-ended. Some of us discussed Wicked in another group. I'll make a folder for it here and then post a link to the other group's thread so you can see the comments. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Also, if you click on "all" (next to topics) you can see all of the folders that have been started here!

Yay, Mona - join the fun. I haven't read Wicked yet, but I did recently buy it so I'm looking forward to that discussion, as well.
Help! I have asked so many people about this and no one knows the answer! I am trying to find a book I read in high school. It is about a slave that accidentally kills someone (or maybe even found someone dead already but thought he would be blamed?). He panics and he burns the body in the fireplace of the home. Does anyone have a clue as to what the book is??? I'd like to read it again if I could figure it out! Thanks!
Debbie, there's a club on this site called "What's the Name of that Book?" where the sole focus is on these types of questions.
I want to talk about this video by author Seth Greenland discussing his book "Shining City".Here's the link:

Oops sorry, I was trying to respond to the post about Water for Elelephants. Not quite sure how all this works yet.
I started a folder for The Ambassadors. Feel free to post in the Water For Elephants threads whenever you'd like. They are located in the Archives folder. If renewed discussions begin, I will move WFE back into its own folder.
loved the Alchemist. I just read it about two days ago and zipped through it in a matter of hours because I was so intrigued.
Ninabeena, there is a thread already started for the Alchemist. It is in the Archives folder. Please feel free to post in it. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Any talk of the Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd? I did a quick search and nothing came back
I want to talk about and I want anyone who has an interest in how our government in the U.S. has gone down the 60 year slippery slope we now find ourselves on to read "The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism" by John Bacevich.
I read it a while ago so might be a little fuzzy. I loved the premise of the story and the overall moral of 'the reckless possibilities of wrongdoing.' It was a good life lesson. I hated Briony and loved Robbie & Cecilia. I was unsettled about the ending; thought the book jumped around enough to be confusing ~ but clever. Overall, it made me feel sad. But it engaged me totally.Marilynn
Good day!I would like to invite you if you're willing to discuss the book "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet with me. Or if ever you haven't read the book maybe we can read it together and discuss each chapter or parts of the book with, uhmmm, I guess using the reading guides and questions found in some reputable websites like Oprah.com (she chose this book as her 60th book club selection).
I haven't read the book yet as I am still reading Follet's "The Eye of the Needle" before tackling The Pillars... 900+ pages. I admit I'm a methodical person and that's why I opted to read his first smashing bestseller.
I have been hearing a lot of buzz lately of how "great" this book is and am curious what truly made this book a constant bestseller. You may also consider this discussion an initiation if ever you are planning to read Follet's sequel to the Pillars... the book "World Without End".
I hope you will participate.
Add me as your friend!!
My warm regards and happy reading ^_^!
There is already a discussion on The Pillars of the Earth, jzhunagev.

To our humble moderators, can you please make a thread for the book The Reader by Bernhard Schlink. I had read this book lately which led me to watch the critically acclaimed movie... I want to know what others think of this small but intellegent novel..Thanks guys...
I would love to talk about the book The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It's one of my favorites, very amazing, but doesn't seem to be very popular!
