me too!!! :Dthis one just sounds like the perfect book to buddy read! I think we'll have a lot to discuss :)
Yes! My boss read it she told me some of the things they do her, it's just awful!! I can't wait to discuss it. :)
I'll be in Oceanside at a beautiful resort and with my husband, one daughter, and at least four grandkids, but I'm going to join you with whatever time I have to read. YAY!!!! We are a FUN and interesting buddy group when we all get together. Hope it's a GREAT read! Don't know if I can handle laying in the sun, watching kids surf and ride the waves with boogie boards, etc. and relax and read too. Oh, yay! Life is GOOD!!!
oh my! You guys ready for this tomorrow??!?!?do we want to set a reading goal or just check in every 5 chapters?
I plan on starting this one in a few hours still.I'm trying to finish up a few others books first. I'm hoping to give this one pretty undivided attention.
Trisha, I'm LOVING sitting on the balcony across from the beautiful beach and pier, listening to the waves and reading! I was SO tired yesterday that I ended up going to bed at 10:30. Me! Lol I'm loving reading and relaxing, but playing catch up still. I finished The Angel Experiment and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to move on to book 2, so hopefully you'll join us.
Miss being on GR but my phone won't last! :)
aww! so glad you made it safe and sound! It sounds so relaxing and so fun. I hope you enjoy the time (reading and with family! LOL!)
fingers crossed your phone holds out :)
wow this is convenient... reading this as we speak! I had no idea the buddy read was going on but I'll join you guys since I'm already reading it LOL

I've been meaning to get to that book!! It's been on my kindle for over a year...
What I like about this book is that it's such an interesting perspective on World War II - it's not (right now at least) about Hitler/Stalin and their persecution (a la The Book Thief, Number the Stars, etc.). It's just about a British girl captured by the enemy who is telling her own story.
I'm at work right now, so I haven't started this one yet. I might not till tomorrow, I'm going to try to finish The Goddess Inheritance tonight! :)
okay, sorry for the delay. My house is finally quiet.starting this one :)
I have the paperback so I'm not sure about everyone else, but I don't have chapter numbers.
So I'll try to put part of the....equation thingy? to signify which chapter I'm talking about
unless anyone knows of a better way to mark the spoilers? I hate when I don't have chapters! LOL!
I don't know what's wrong with me but I tried reading 3 or 4 different books last night and just couldn't get into any of them. Ugh...anyone else ever have that problem?
Vicki wrote: "I don't know what's wrong with me but I tried reading 3 or 4 different books last night and just couldn't get into any of them. Ugh...anyone else ever have that problem?"lol this one is pretty heavy at first...
I think her joking and lightness of her situation breaks up the other parts of her story, but this is NOT a light read so far.
I'm over 60 pages in and plan to stop at 80 something just to read something lighter!!!
I have the hardcover edition. I looked and I think they are named chapters LATER, but right now they're the Ormaie.BlahBlah, correct? YES this is really heavy. I don't think 5 chapters a day is feasible for me. I am enjoying it but it's not something I'm able to breeze through.
Okay, so I stopped before chapter: Ormaie 16.XI.43 JB-5 (page 83 for me)and this feels VERY much like (view spoiler)
I feel like she's (view spoiler)
she's also very versed in (view spoiler)
so far I love it

Yes! There is NO speed reading this one! This one takes time and full mental capacity!
Ok I've only through the first "chapter"-Ormaie 8.XI.43 JB-5Verity is very witty and snarky, I really like her so far.
Sorry I didn't get very far, all of a sudden I got really tired and I'm about to go to sleep.

It really is a very good book and I read it in less than 12 hours. I seriously couldn't put it down! I hope you like it! :)
okay, I'm over 100 pages in and I defeinitely see 2 different patterns and I think I understand why the story is told the way it is ;)
anyone else picking up on it?
Almost with done with "chapter" Ormaie 10.XI.43 JB-5Just to clarify (view spoiler)
I still like it so far, it's interesting to see the history of what was happening during that time and also heartbreaking at the same time. I'm so anxious to see how it ends, I'm really scared for Verity and the outcome.
well....yes, you have it right...but...I can't really say anything else lol
but I think the next chapter will surprise you :)

I don't know what to think anymore

Ok I looked at your spoilers, I couldn't take it anymore!!! lol :p
I'm the same way, always looking for motives or fretting out the bad guy! I agree with you on everything!! They have to be clues, (view spoiler)
Kathy wrote: "Ok I looked at your spoilers, I couldn't take it anymore!!! lol :p..."lol!!
the first 1/2 is really world building and setting the stage.
the 2nd half, you will fly through. it will answer all our questions! I can't wait! EEEEEE!!! :D I think you will LOVE this book!!!
I'm still finishing up book 1 of Ella and Micah so I can read book 2 today. Not sure when I'll get to this book but it sure looks like a great one!!!!
I really am!!!! We ate at Ruby's on the peer yesterday! Great food and a gorgeous view!!!! We went to the Farmers Market...much bigger than the one where I live and it had a LOT more venders and music. It'll be hard leaving here, but when we go to Big Bear Lake there's a different kind of serenity there. Plus my son and his wife and their 6 kids will be joining us!!! I'm SO excited to spend time with them!! So 9 of my 19 grandkids will be there. The only reading I'm getting done is early morning and late night. Lol Oh, and in the car!
My visit with Lee Fullbright was amazing!!! I'm so glad Heather got to meet her too. We spent from 11-12:30 or so in her home and (can you believe this) talked BOOKS!!! Lol And editing, and her new book she's working on. Lee is adorable!!!! Anyway then we went to a Mexican restaurant, the same as last year, and sat and talked until after 3:00. What a lovely, positive human being she is. Lots of laughs too!!! We're definitely going to see each other again!!!
ahhh, it sounds like you are having a great time surrounded by people and family you love and love you!what a blessing this time is!
sounds like you have at least a week left! How wonderful! Meh, reading sounds pretty 2nd place to handing out with grand kids!!! LOL! Especially when you get to the 19 of them! LOL! I hope they distract and exhaust you from every book you brought ;P I bet they will! Have fun!
