Hunger Buddy Read

Meaghan, David, Karen and I are starting a buddy read for the second book in the Gone series starting May 10th!

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, or page #, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

Lol, yay!! Yeah, there are a lot of speed readers in this group! But we'd love to hear your comments even if they're after some of us have finished. I tend to be last to finish lol, so you'll probably be with me then so we can compare notes ;)

LOL! I finished Clockwork Princess so I can start Hunger now ;) I don't seem to have the ability to read two books at once. It's definitely not one of my superpowers :)

So what are you superpowers, David? Mine all probably have to do with reading lol!

I'll start here in a little bit. Its so nice and quiet today, I'm the only one home! And its cold and rainy today, a perfect day for reading!

You definitely have reading superpowers! I really only have one superpower, which is my OCD lol! I think it has a lot to do with any and all success I have in most areas of my life. I wrote a blog post about that once, "OCD is my Superpower" Lol!! Oh, I'm also REALLY good at pingpong and hockey too, those are also superpowers of mine :)

I checked my review for this one and in it I mentioned that holding this hardcover book caused massive hand cramps! After I finished this one I stopped reading the series because I could not commit to 4 more books of all these characters and sub-stories! Excited to see others thoughts while they read it.

Haha!! That's hilarious! Yeah, these books could cause massive carpel tunnel if I didn't have my Kindle, that's one of the best benefits of ebooks :)

LOL, I'm really curious to see if I decide to read this whole series, after the first book I was thinking I might, but I'm just not sure I have it in me!

Well I am cheap and always get the library edition if I can! There were just too many new characters added in this one and plots going on that I could not continue (there is even more added in book 3 according to some of my other GR friends)

I'm about 14% in right now. (view spoiler)[ I like that this one brings in the animal mutations a lot more. I really liked that aspect of the first book but it wasn't explored too much.

I also like Duck so far. I wonder how his power will play into the story!

I also think these worms are going to become a weapon of some sort. I don't think they are just going to kill kids in the cabbage patch! I'm not sure what purpose yet but I'm sure Drake will find a use... (hide spoiler)]

I'll get started on this one tonight. :) I think I may be reading the entire series as well. I have my Nook so don't have to worry about my hand falling off. Ahahha..

And Jenny, Game of Thrones, WOW!! I've read the first 4 and half of the 5th. Good books, but I read them before I had my Nook, in hardback, and my hand DID fall off. Yikes!! hehehhe....

I did nothing but played ping pong and pool when I was a teen in Italy. We had no American TV and only 5 movies a week to watch in our little 30 seat theatre. So I'd love to challenge you to some ping pong, David!! :-P

I don't always leave you in the dust, it just depends on life lol! I didn't watch Idol this season...I have had trouble enjoying it after Simon left. I seem to have switched to X Factor instead!

My daughter is addicted to the Voice! I watched last week's episode, I think, it was pretty good! I'm just not much of a TV watcher anymore.

I agree completely, Meaghan (on the book), and you will just have to wait and see! Lana is one of my favorite characters I think...very resilient!

I've read the first few. I plan to read Infernal Devices this summer (all of them) and hopefully one of The Mortal Instruments... specifically city of Bones. :3

I hear you! I used to be addicted to Idol and Survivor and Nashville Star in the early days. I LOVE Glee, but I have NEVER watched an episode when it aired! I wait until the season goes on Netflix, and then watch the whole season all at once, so I'm always behind! I did the same thing with Lost. Darryl's addicted to The Amazing Race, NCIS, Person of Interest, and the Good Wife. I sometimes watch occasionally with him, but I ususally disappear as soon as a commercial comes on!

15% in. This book started with a bang, wow!! (view spoiler)[Drake is flipping psychotic! His snake arm is kind of flipping me out! And wonder what the kid who falls through the earth is going to end up doing? Weird power. I've never seen anything like that one before. (hide spoiler)]

This book is a brainless easy read. Whew. After that roller coaster of emotions read of CP, I'm breezing through this one pretty quick it feels like.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I'm glad he does a fair amount of recapping, that helps! What ever happened to Sam's best friend, the surfer kid? For the life of me I can't remember what happened or even what his name was. Did he die? I know he turned evil then good and back and forth.

Agreed, I'm liking it for that reason too, it's good to have in between emotional books :)

His name is Quinn, and he shows up about a third of the way in. He helped Sam at the end of Gone.

He helped Sam and Astrid a lot. I don't think he has any powers...he learned to drive and drove a lot.
