Kelly H (kellyddh) How did everyone feel about the last book? I know there has been complete hatred toward CH but I just don't get it. I won't post spoilers but I'm am very happy with happy with how the book ended! I have loved The Sookie character from the start(I am from the infamous Monroe mentioned in the books) and thought that CH did exactly what needed to happen to character. Even who she ended up with I was very happy with though I wasn't a "shipper". Why about y'all?

Veronica (veraj121) I just purchased and started reading the book yesterday. I have seen a few ratings and its low. So far I like it.

I was disappointed... I didnt think it was awful but it was not good. Hard to really talk about it without posting spoilers my review ended up turning into a rant when I sat down to write it.

Ebonee | 8 comments I did not like the book at all. I felt that CH got lazy I have not liked the direction of the story line since the ninth book. I kept following to see how it ended and though it did not end bad. It could have ended better.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I agree, go ahead and read them despite the reviews, they are absolutely worth it even if the writing in some places definitely isn't great. The plot more than makes up for it, so do most of the characters.

What I personally disliked very much about the latest book is quite simply that Sookie is turning more and more into her TV equivalent, which didn't use to be the case. Since the TV series has been so completely different (let's face it, the few hints from the books that are in there are barely enough to suggest that the seasons are based off the books), I would have preferred the characters in the books not to take on some of the added annoying attitudes, but alas.

The other thing quite simply is that despite the fact that the book is lacking that particular spark most of the other books had, so many loose ends from the series are being tied up here that it was still a good read.
It's working towards an ending, you can feel it in all the pages and endings to a good series are always hard - whether to write them or to read them.

Veronica (veraj121) So far I am enjoying the book. I agree with Elderwan. CH has transformed Sookie into her TV character. But so far it isnt enough to give it a poor rating. Are people giving this book 1-2 stars because of the way it ended or because of its content? I am curious. Do people feel CH has become that bad of an author. Poor rating equals a garbage read and so far I do not see that. So I am just curious what everyone is basing their ratings on

message 7: by Kelly (new)

Kelly H (kellyddh) I never watched the tv show so I don't know how the characters differ. I think a lot of people are mad because of who she ends up with. And people are mad because of the writing but like some people have said, your not going to make everyone happy!

message 8: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) If its based on the ending, I guess I have to see for myself. So far I am enjoying the story. Im dying to see where Sookie ends up and who she choose ( even though I have a feeling who she will end up with)

Betina (betina1) | 27 comments How many books is there? I have the first 11 :)

message 10: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 12 comments i have the book but didn't start to read it yet. if it is goodbey then i will be saq about it, and it's true that the show doesn't match the books even if you saw the actors reading it on screen but isn't that the way everything works when filming??? the have to make it better and more mysterieus for the non readers as well... when i finish my other books i will read this one, as i have loved the series from book one.

message 11: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 12 comments finished the book yesterday and must say that even i'm sad about it being the last book it's a great ending. after reading the comments here i was kinda worried that it would be terribly bad but for me it's the right way to end it, there's closure for every question( exept the future of some characters).. i love the book series and i'm a fan of the show, even tough in belgium where a little bit behind so i usually wait for the dvd to be released so i can watch it when i want to.. thank you charlainne harris :D

message 12: by Kelly (new)

Kelly H (kellyddh) I think the book has been out long enough that we should be able to talk about what we want. With that said.....SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!

So did y'all like her ending up with Sam? I went back and started the whole series from the beginning ( I'm obsessive sometimes!). I am still not sure why everyone thinks she was building up to an Eric/Sookie ending. Now I see she was totally building towards a Sam/Sookie ending. What do y'all think?

message 13: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 12 comments yeah, to me it made sense, from the date in the first book till now there has always been that kind of bond between them. even though there where a few with whom she could've been with (eric, quin, alcide, bill) yet Sam made perfect sense..

thank you sarah

message 14: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 12 comments yeah but it kinda looked like he ended up with karin.. as they spend lots of time together in the woods. so even he has an happy ending

message 15: by Kelly (new)

Kelly H (kellyddh) Sarah, Alcide would have been a good match before he got too involved in the pack. I loved him in Club Dead but by books 5 and 6 I was just kinda like "move along".

Wendy, I think Bill and Karin would be cute (can you say that about a vamp couple? haha) together. Bill was always too serious for me. I was never a Bill/Sookie shipper!

message 16: by Kelly (new)

Kelly H (kellyddh) that guy is Hoottt!!!

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenilynn77) | 2 comments Without being too spoilersih...I also felt like the entire series was leading up to the ending...it just goes to show that just like us, even part humans never truely see what is in front of them until everything is stripped away. At that point the blindfold is taken off and we see what has been in the spotlight the whole time.

message 18: by Sally (new)

Sally | 1 comments I own the first seven books and I'm on Deadreckoning... I love the sookie stackhouse novels. I can't wait to finish the series... I hope she ends up with Bill because well, he was her first love and all... but I have yet to get to the end. I'll just have to be surprised.

message 19: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments (As a warning, spoilers, but since by now all the fans will probably have read the book anyway... ^^)

I can't say I'm surprised that Sookie ended up with Sam in the end because he was right there, straight from the beginning and I've always wondered if something was going to happen between them at some point.
As some of you have already mentioned, Sookie loved leading a normal life and always wanted to have kids. Plus, she was too much of a sunshine-lover to ever permanently be with a vampire or even let herself be turned into one.
Hehe, Bill ending up with Karin would be quite cool actually, and now that you mention it, Charlaine Harris did hint towards it, so it might be a distinct possibility.
I would be curious to know though what will happen to Eric now.

Katie.g | 129 comments Read the first two books. They were fairly good. I prefer the TV show True Blood which is based off the books though. Really enjoying the latest season!

message 21: by Alyson (new)

Alyson (varza) | 1 comments wasn't happy w thd book but mainly it felt rushed w tfying to tie everything up. I liked the end relationship... its been building to that since book one.

I hate the tv show though...

message 22: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn Salaz | 5 comments I loved the series through about the 6-7 book then I felt like she was just writing to write I don't know if anyone watches the show but I'm honestly enjoying the way the show Is headed more then the books

message 23: by Sharlyn (new)

Sharlyn Lam (sharlynlam) | 26 comments I am contemplating reading this series because I've heard some good reviews from friends. By now I'm getting quite bored of reading books that involve vampires, witches, demons and werewolves etc. What makes this series so different and is it worth the read?

message 24: by Kelly (new)

Kelly H (kellyddh) that's funny Sarah! I alway wanted fried chicken when I read the series!

Anywho, I think the characters make them such a great book. And the vampires so don't sparkle, so thats a plus!

Belynda Kelly wrote: "How did everyone feel about the last book? I know there has been complete hatred toward CH but I just don't get it. I won't post spoilers but I'm am very happy with happy with how the book ended! I..."

Someone else posted a spoiler further down that I inadvertently saw....:-( Have not finished the series yet.

message 26: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Sarah wrote: "...yes, it's nice that the vampires in these books are traditional. They sleep during the day, and die in the sun instead of sparkling. :-D"

And not to mention, they're actually vicious, crave blood and do all the vampire-y things that so often seem to have gone amiss in quite a lot of vampire books. Hooray for real vamps! ;-)

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition I loved Sookie Stackhouse' s down home charm from the first book! I saw the author speak about 2 years ago in New York and she seemed to be getting tired of the series then. I thought it reflected in her recent books that she was over the whole Sookie thing and I didn't bother to even read the last book because I thought it was so obvious that Sookie and Sam belonged together, but it never happened. So, I don't mind spoilers, in fact now that I know they do actually end up together, I think I will read the last book after all!

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Also wanted to add that I love the Trueblood HBO series almost as much as the books! The actors look exactly as I pictured them. Especially Sookie, Jason, Alcide and Eric!!
