Bargle | 1762 comments This book was about a heavily modified B-52 sent on some secret mission. The few details I remember. The plane was painted all black in some sort of RADAR absorbing finish. The standard tail group was removed and replaced with a V-tail. The cover image showed a standard B-52 painted black. Story is told through the eyes of one character, a military officer, going on the mission. At one point he is traveling via military aircraft to reach the plane and he goes to sleep in the BOQ because nobody told him he was going to have a long layover, but not to leave the terminal.
That's all I've got.

Trinity's Child by William Prochnau?

Andy Phillips | 240 comments I'm almost certain that it's not "Trinity's Child" as I read it fairly recently and the description doesn't match. I've never read it but "Flight of the Old Dog" looks promising though.

Good call on Flight of the Old Dog. There's a summary on Wikipedia that contains spoilers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_o...

One reviewer on Amazon mentions: "The only chance for the west is the EB-52, a highly modified B-52 bomber using stealth, new engines and next generation electronics and weapons - probably one of the few planes capable of destroying the Russians' base, and the only one stealthy enough to get the job done and survive without starting WWIII."
