Jill H. (bucs1960) Glad you could join us Ali Khan. We have a History of Islam topic that may be of help to your for your educational research. It can be found at the following link.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Steve-o | 2 comments Hello all! My name is Steve and I am from Williamsburg, VA. I consider myself a fan of history (especially Rome and ancient history), and I'm hoping to broaden my horizons and gain new insights from others. I stumbled onto this group while searching for books to add to my 'to read' list and noticed that Rubicon was next up in the cue. I'm looking forward to discovering more great things to read and meeting people from different parts of the world and sharing ideas.

Sachin Shivakumar (alienroboz) | 1 comments Hello guys. I am Sachin, a student in the final year, pursuing bachelors degree of engineering in India. Although my usual interests lie in classics and literature, I recently turned my thoughts toward books on history, partly due to the fact that knowing history is absolutely essential and it is indisputably more rewarding than fancy fiction stories. I have read books containing brief accounts of ancient and medieval history in europe and asia regions. I would really appreciate it if some of you can recommend me authentic books on history related to continents of america, europe and asia.

Ryan Goodrich | 7 comments Greetings, History Lovers,

I am Ryan Goodrich, a disabled and retired U.S. Marine, who, I guess you can say, has been a part of recent history. Although, we all make the world spin and, hopefully, leave our mark, right? I'm a history lover, especially anything to do with human origins, Leonardo DaVinci, flight history, the roaring 20's, WWII, or the recent Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts (which I am a veteran of). I have a degree in English (Summa Cum Laude), I am an IT manager at the University of Oregon, I read often, I dabble in some creative pen-whipping, and I have a wife of four years, son, and another little one on the way. I am hoping to change history with my creative outlook by spinning new perspectives on the current conflicts which plague the U.S. at this time. Hopefully, we will all enjoy each others' company and share new ideas and great reads together! Thanks for having me!

Ryan Goodrich

Hello everyone,

My name is Seth. I'm a Los Angeles based composer and spend a great deal of my time trapped in LA's infamously bad traffic where I'm excitedly listening to audio books and podcasts on an assortment of historical subjects.

Being from a historically rich area of New York (Hudson Valley), I grew up loving early American history. Nowadays, I love delving into any area of the past and discovering the peoples, cultures, and events that preceded us.

So, with that in mind. I'm very excited to join a community of like minded people!

I am interested in British History, particularly Elizabeth I and Henry VIII. I have been reading extensively in U.S. History for the past year or so, focusing on the Gilded Age and the period between the end of the Civil War and the beginning of WWI. I have an interest in learning about history through learning about the movers and shakers of a period, so have been focusing on presidential biographies (Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Abraham Lincoln), as well as robber barons (J.D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, etc). I look forward to reading and discussing books on all aspects of history with this group!

I also read a lot of mystery fiction in college - Sir Arthur C. Doyle, Sidney Sheldon, Ted Dekker, Dan Brown etc.
I'm currently serving as a youth corper in my country (Nigeria) as a teacher. Afterwards, I'd be moving to the USA hopefully for further studies in economics.
My parents are always worried that my reading habits and range since I was young is dangerous....that I might get caught up in the world of books and lose a sense of reality. I do not think this is the case though. I'm still very much in touch with reality.
Enough talking though, I'm happy to be a part of this group. I trust I'll always be part of the collective learning process,

Tom Greetings from Orlando and Melbourne Beach, Florida. I have degrees in political science, law and theology. I enjoy reading books (fiction or nonfiction) that are well written with a good storyline. As a 50 year old, I see the world much differently than when I was younger; reading history offers new perspective, too.

Thank you for accepting me into the group. I hope to find recommendations on historical novels.

Jill H. (bucs1960) Welcome, Prince, to our family of history lovers. Loved your introduction. Because you have such a wide range of topics that you like, I suggest that you browse the threads on our home page and find something that catches your attention. The link is below:

https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

This is how a book should look:

Thomas Jefferson The Art of Power by Jon Meacham by Jon Meacham Jon Meacham

Also, the citations of the authors you mentioned should look like this:

Arthur Conan Doyle Arthur Conan Doyle
Sidney Sheldon Sidney Sheldon
Ted Dekker Ted Dekker
Dan Brown Dan Brown

Eileen | 1 comments Hello, my name is Eileen and I'm new to the group. I live in Northern California and work in the finance field. I studied Government and International Relations and have lived abroad in four countries, including a stint working at the United Nations in Geneva. My interests in history don't center on any one particular time period or geography, but rather on economic, political and science histories. I also enjoy reading histories (or historical fiction) that tell tales about pioneering women, no matter their field of endeavor. I'm not interested in dry academic pieces these days and will put a book down, unfinished, if the author can't write a compelling narrative. I'm always looking for a recommendation as to a good book to read, and look forward to participating in the group.
