Bryan Craig Welcome, Emily. Glad you could join us. We have British history topics:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Barbara | 28 comments My name is Barbara Hawkins. I just retired after years of being a civil engineer and have time to do the things I have always enjoyed. I love reading about any period in history, both non-fiction and historical-fiction. I think I have read all of Bernard Cornwall's books, which start at Stonehenge through pre-Viking England, to Sharpe's battles under the British Empire, and the US Civil War. I also have dipped into archaeological studies in MesoAmerica and Asia Minor. I look forward to being a member of the History Book Club at Goodreads.

Edison (surgeonwriter) | 1 comments Hello folks. My name is Edison McDaniels. While I am a surgeon during the day, I spend my nights reading and writing. I am a huge fan of history, especially military history. I'm a bit partial to accounts of ancient historical warfare, before the 20th century.
I also enjoy historical fiction, probably more about the ordinary fellow than historical figures. One of my favorite books was Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth.
I am particularly well read on the American Civil War. I have read Shelby Foote's three volume series cover to cover four times. Love it.
As a surgeon, I am also interested in the history of medicine, surgery, and disease. I'd appreciate any recommendations along these lines you might want to send my way.
Yours in the word. Edison.

Hello everybody, my name is Paul Swendson, and I have been a history teacher for about twenty years, working for the last fourteen years at the community college level. I mostly teach American History survey courses, but I have been known to teach World Civilizations from time to time.

I have a Master's Degree in History, specializing in the economic history of early modern Europe and of the late 19th century United States. I still love economic and social history, but as a teacher of survey courses, I am constantly trying to develop a better working knowledge of every major topic in American history.

I signed up for Goodreads recently, and I am still trying to figure out how the site works. I joined to get new reading ideas, find other people to learn from.

Thanks for creating this group, and I look forward to meeting some of you.

Jill H. (bucs1960) Greetings, John. You have found the site for all things history. You might want to browse the topics on the home page and find some that are of interest to you.

This is how the book you mentioned should look:

Thomas Jefferson The Art of Power by Jon Meacham by Jon Meacham Jon Meacham

Brandon Atwood Hello, my name is Brandon Atwood. I've enjoyed History since I was in High School. I've lived in the United States thus far in my life. I've mostly read American History but I would like to join this group to see recommendations and discussion on wider topics to broaden my perspective. Thank you.

J. D. R. Mallari (bibliotechnophile) | 7 comments Hello Everyone,
My name is Janelle. And as you can tell from my profile name that I really like all things historical. History has always been a favourite subject of mine though most of the teachers just leech the fun out of it. Anyway, I originated from the Philippines and moved to Australia with my family. I'm a high school student. I started reading historical books when I was in year 2 and fell in love with the Tudors.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could suggest a couple of historical books set in Medieval Europe.
Thanks.

Bob Doyle | 1 comments My name is Bob D and I live in North East MD. I graduated from the Military Academy at West Point too many years ago. I've been a voracious reader my entire life with several areas of interest. History has always been important to me with Ancient and US History holding my primary focus. I am thrilled to find this sight as it is getting harder to find serious readers who want to gain a deeper understanding. Thanks for being here.

Valerie | 2 comments Hello all.
I'm Valerie, a high school math teacher. I have several sub categories of history that I am interested in. Cartography, Math and Philosophy, Africa, Baseball etc. I am especially interested in a thread I noticed on buddy reads. I read The Count of Monte Cristo with one such group, and loved the discussion threads.
