Bronwen (browlands) | 4 comments When I attempted to add the edition of "Wind in the Willows" that I'm reading (1961; Scribners), I found no efficient way to search the kajillion editions on Goodreads. What is a good way?

Also, when I attempted to add my edition, I saw no fields for (or discussion of) the edition's illustrator. Thank you.

Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments Illustrators of fully illustrated books are added as an additional 'author', same for volume editors and other non-authors who have 'responsibility'. No separate field, partly I suspect to discourage the addition of non-collating Editors and Cover Illustrators. When adding an illustrator to books like WitW, it's helpful to also add "Illustrator" into the Role box :)

Easiest way I've found to find a specific edition if I know the pub date is to sort the Editions by date of publication, and then trawl on.

Discussion of illustrator goes in description field, but without any links or similar.

Bronwen (browlands) | 4 comments I should add that my "Wind in the Willows" has the following id numbers: H-1.72 [C]; SBN 684-71788-3 SL; SBN 684-128195 RB.

The illustrator is Ernest H. Shepard (who also wrote the introduction).

Thank you.

Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments For Old SBNs (i.e. pre-ISBN), it can be worth searching the SBN with a leading 0 added in front, so 0684717883 to make a 10 digit ISBN. This is only good for some edition, and also only any good here if it's already been added of course :) Will check in a minute to see if it's there for you.
