Hi, I'm Kyle Forrest, husband and father of three from South Boston. I'm currently working on my first novel. I've been an avid reader since I was a tyke, and I'm hardly ever without a book. Psychological Thrillers, Horror, Mystery, Crime, Adventure and true stories are my favorite genres.

I also write historical spy thrillers. Old Bach Is Come, a historical spy thriller set in the Kingdom of Prussia in 1747, has just been published.
Hi Steve! Great to meet you and welcome to the group.:)

I really enjoyed Greenmantle. I didn't much like Mr Standfast, The Three Hostages, or The Isle of Sheep.
In another spy thriller I've written but is still in the queue to be published, there's a bed and breakfast in Banff, Canada that plays an important role in the story. So I called it "Tweedsmuir House" in honor of John Buchan, First Baron Tweedsmuir. The title was conferred on Buchan when he was appointed Governor General of Canada.
In my opinion, Buchan wrote one work of genius (The Thirty-Nine Steps) and one excellent book (Greenmantle). I'd prefer not to comment on his other 35 or so works of fiction.
Good luck with your spy thriller. Feel free to discuss it in our Author's Corner section."
Thank you!

Thank you.
I'm reading Greenmantle now."
When you finish Greenmantle, it would be interesting to know how you think it compares to The Thirty-Nine Steps.
Read 39 Steps a couple of times.
And it gets better every time, doesn't it? I've seen various film and TV adaptations, and I think that each one is worse than the last. In my opinion, Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 version is as superb (in its own way) as Buchan's book. But I really don't like any of the subsequent versions.
GreenmantleJohn Buchan

Yes, indeed. When Buchan died in 1940, the Prime Minister of Canada, Mackenzie King, said: "In the passing of His Excellency, the people of Canada have lost one of the greatest and most revered of their Governors General, and a friend who, from the day of his arrival in this country, dedicated his life to their service."
"That is an excellent title, btw."
Thank you.

I've been on Goodreads for about a year now and still finding my way around.
I've been looking for a group for crime and thrillers as I love to read and write them.
I've written a two part crime novel based in West Yorkshire, England Baby Driver
Take It To The Limit
I also love to read crime, mystery novels. I was a huge Scarpetta fan and would love any reccomndations for Mystery and thriller novels.

Thank you.

Read 39 ..."
I've seen other adaptations as well and I totally agree, the original with Robert Donat is by far the best. I must say, our local drama society put on the play based on The Thirty-Nine Steps and it was a most entertaining, at times laugh out loud, well-done play.

I loved the play, too — I really enjoyed it from start to finish. BTW, I felt that the play was based on Hitchcock's film version rather than Buchan's book. Also, there were bits from other Hitchcock films, such as the aeroplane from "North by Northwest."

Im Warren ; former P.I. in Asia - before that I did dabble as a racehorse trainer in melbourne. Great fan of the recent late Robert G Barrett and Paul Temple. Only problem I have with Pauls books - after reading them I tend to note how lacking in colour my books often are! After a couple of non fiction works describing my colourful life as a private eye [ Confessions of a Bangkok Private eye by myself and Stephen Leather ] I began a trilogy featuring and Aussie P.I. in Asia. Starting off as a barman in a Melbourne pub, he and his buddy experience a vast range of fortune as they travel abroad -
