Jon (jonmoss) I am posting all the discussion topics at the beginning of May because I will be traveling most of this month and won't be available to post them as I usually do each week.

Spoilers are allowed for all previous books in the Wheel of Time series and up through the end of Chapter 12 in A Memory of Light.

I was hoping to join in for the last three books, but didnt get a chance until now, so I picked this up FINALLY! Zipping right through it too...nice to see all the action!

Alex | 104 comments A lot of action so far. Usually these books are incredibly slow for the first 200 pages or so. It's a nice surprise. Hope it keeps up for the rest of it. Seems like there's too many plots to resolve before the end.

I thought the same thing Alex...I was happy re the all the action! Later I started to wonder if we would ever see anything besides battle scenes!

John LeViness (jlawrence) | 7 comments Yes, it really does seem to be delivering up the last battle! Jordan did say that we should expect for some things to never be resolved. I've often wondered if he meant it or was just teasing. We are about to find out.

Jon (jonmoss) Prologue equalled 3 CDS in the audio book. I am currently listening to chapter 2 and two of my newer favorite characters: Pavara and Androl

Kent Calero (kentcalero) | 2 comments It is the last battle! One would expect a Lot of battles. .."impossible pipe" you're all making me want to read this again

I know a lot of people didn't like Pevara and Androl, but I think I enjoyed their POV chapters more than the other new POVs Sanderson incorporated (quite possibly more than Perrin's and Mat's chapters too, to be honest).

Alex | 104 comments I didn't know anybody hated them. I like their odd relationship.

I read this book when it came out, and honestly I've already forgotten who Pevara and Androl were.

There was a lot of grumbling that they got so much screen time. I understand why Sanderson would do that though, those chapters read a lot better than some of his attempts at finding the voices of the previously established characters.

Alex | 104 comments Rand is the one that seems most obviously different to me but at least you could blame some of that on what happened at the dragonmount.

I was okay with Rand being different, because of the madness and Dragonmount. Mat is rather off key too, and unfortunately comes across less as a trickster and more as a complete buffoon, Aviendha felt rather off in the earlier books as well, but she annoyed me less in AMOL. Egwene I'm okay with, Perrin I never liked anyway, so that his chapters grated on my nerves was really business as usual. ;)

Helen | 1 comments I'm a first time reader of the series and I've not noticed an obvious difference in the writing with the exception that the action is moving, there is considerably less mention of clothing and hair tugging. Initially, I couldn't decide if it was because of the author change our whether it was because we were at the end. Think it's definitely the author.

Enjoying this a lot. Androl is brilliant. Thought Mat getting emotional at the assassins was funny too. Must read on.

Alex | 104 comments I think Jordan wrote a lot of what was left for this one so there might not be much difference to notice. If I remember right the 200 page chapter on the last battle and the ending were all or mostly him but you wouldn't be that far along yet. Androl was Sanderson's pet project though.

Colm Flynn | 3 comments I much preferred the writing style of Sanderson personally, I love this series and AMOL brings it all together so nicely. So much action throughout which makes it so hard to put the book down. I remember being so annoyed back in book 7 as it was a lot of Egwene and she used to drive me up the wall but she was much more tolerable here. I loved Androl but I think generally everyone loves an underdog.

message 18: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Champagne Egwene and Aviendha I thought were amazing and relatable characters. I love strong females and I highly respect those two! I felt that all the main characters changed significantly throughout the series; more so than other books and with good reason! I thought Rand got pretty annoying before he had that moment on Dragonmount and Moiraine is the SHIT!!!! I can't pick a favorite! I love them all got different reasons. But I wanted to strangle Tuon on a daily basis!!!!

Helen | 1 comments I'm even beginning to like Tuon. This and the last book have had that inputdownable quality. I didn't want to fork out for this but having read the sample I had no alternative.

I love the way the characters have grown but still find Egwene hard to get on with. I'm around chapter 23 now and how I managed to turn the light off last night I don't know!
