She narrowed her eyes. "Ms. Johnson. You are breaking school rules, I am the teacher, and you should not be talking back. Give me the phone please." She said clearly, and firmly.

Aria looked up from her notebook, and at Carly and Ms. Williams.

"Too bad. I don't care." Carly said.

"I will count to three. If you do not hand the phone over, I'm just going to take it." Ms. Williams said. "1... 2..."

"You can't take my phone."

Ms. Williams looked at the girl. She would have to report this to her brother. She walked back up to the board. "What am I to you?" She asked the class.

Ms. Williams nodded. "I respect your opinion, Lyric. But, I could also find you annoying. How do you feel about that?"

"I agree with Lyric." Carly says.

"Alright then. I'm going to enforce some class rules." She picked up the marker again. "I'd like you to write these down,"

Aria took out her pencil to copy the rules into her journal.

Ms. Williams wrote down the rules:


1) Respect each other.
2) Respect me.
3) Respect everyone's items.
4) Participate actively. You have the right to pass as well.
5) Please do not speak out of turn.

Carly grinned and tried not to laugh.

"Does anyone have anything to add to the list?" Ms. Williams asked.

Aria's mouth dropped open. She hadn't known for sure if Lyric would do it, but she did. She had read her thoughts briefly.

Ms. Williams looked at Lyric. "Lyric, I'd like to speak with you in the hall." She said stiffly.

Carly laughed and wrote down what Lyric had put on the board.

Carly starts playing with her water again. She takes the top off the bottle and makes little water bubbles float up and out of it.

Blaire: Shifting my Gucci purse to the other arm, I shoved past two weirdos in the hall and opened the door to the classroom. The "gifted" classroom. Yippee! Not. This public school made me sick. "I'm here!" I marched in rudely, sitting in the empty desk front and centre. I put my sunglasses on top of my head, examining the board in disbeleif.

Aria: I look over to Blaire. She was such a b**ch sometimes, but now she was just being a snob. I roll my eyes.

Carly: I float one of the bubbles into my mouth. Then I freeze the remainder and let them fall back into the bottle. My self-created ice cubes.

Aria: Blaire's vain thoughts filled my head, and I wince, trying to block them out.

Eli turned in his seat so he was facing the other girl like him. "I said earlier I don't not like you. You probably thought that. It's just that I don't talk much." He didn't want anyone thinking he didn't like them.

Blaire: I rolled my eyes at the teacher. Controlling gifts? Too easy. This is dumb. I heaved an obnoxious sigh, before taking my pink iPhone with a diamond on the home button out, texting my super rich girlfriends back in the hamptons.

Janine: "You'll be in pairs, and you'll be practicing the techniques I've come up with." I go to my desk and take up a stack of folders for each student. They had tips on controlling their gifts.
