Helloo! My name is Sophie and reading is my literal addiction, I live in Sweden and I really love dystopian books - even though I haven't actually read that many x), I really love romance a lot so I'd prefer a dystopian book with romance as a sideplot :P
Hey everyone, I'm very pleased to have stumbled upon this group, as I love dystopian books. In particular, what has always fascinated me are books that straddle the line between dystopian AND utopian. It's tough to pull off, perhaps impossible, but I recently took a stab at it with my novel, Zero Percenters. Depending on how you read it, you can look at either way... or so I intended.Anyway, in case anyone is interested, there's a giveaway going for it now at https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
I'd love to hear what folks think and to see posts on other new dystopian efforts.
Best,
Scott
Sophie wrote: "Helloo! My name is Sophie and reading is my literal addiction, I live in Sweden and I really love dystopian books - even though I haven't actually read that many x), I really love romance a lot so ..."Hey Sophie - I would suggest Tara Benner's "The Fringe" series.
My name is Stella, and though I read lots of genres of books, I especially love fantasy, Dystopian fiction, and books like the Rick Riordan or Cassandra Clare books, where the present world is not quite what one thinks it is - there’s a hidden part of the world that most people can’t see.
Hi everyone! My name is Jeffery Zavadil and I’ve written an adult dystopia/utopia trilogy. The first book is called Mallworld, Incorporated. I’m visiting here to read people’s ideas and opinions about utopian and dystopian fiction, and how they relate to political philosophy. I’m also looking for people willing to read my book for review when it comes out. It will be going on presale soon!
Here’s a synopsis, and the website is here: http://www.coexalt.com
After the environment collapses, humanity lives in a giant shopping mall a thousand miles across. It seems like a paradise, but Mallworld’s greedy oligarchs subjugate the people through overwork, overconsumption, and bloody spectacles. Jime Galilei is a cynical, failing everyman who rejects bread-and-circus consumerism and ignites a political revolution to restore democracy, community, and a green Earth.
You’ve got a great community here, and I’m looking forward to reading what you all think!
Greetings everyone. My name is Randy. I am math professor. Currently, I am reading the book, Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I recently the book, The Warehouse by Rob Hart. I liked the book.
Hey everyone! My read-out-of-your-comfort-zone list for this year is dystopian/Apocalyptic. So far it's not going great. I already read "the stand" by Stephen King, "the passage" by Justin Cronin and Metro 2033 by Dmitry Gulkhovsky. I found none of these really well written and in parts illogical, annoying or boring.
I am glad I found this group. Hopefully I can get some inspiration and recommendations here to have more success with my list this year :)
TegulaWelcome to the group!
Currently I am reading Coyote Songs by Gabriel Igelsias
It is good so far.

Hi! I enjoy dystopian and apocalyptic novels, especially if there are zombies.Currently reading The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires
Hello everyone, my name is Scott Boss. My first novel has just gone up for sale and I would love if anyone would read it and leave a review. It's only 99 cents. I'm trying to spread my name more than anything. I have a trailer here if you like to get hyped:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoaqK...
Interstellar Islands - After the 3rd World War came the Final War.
Two teenagers, Marlow and Zane, still remain in a bunker after watching the rest of their community pass on.
Their redemption comes from a group of gatherers who claim to be representatives of the last surviving colony of humans.
Despite the gatherer's questionable motives, Marlow and Zane have little choice but to go with them to the asteroid belt... to live in their Interstellar Islands.
My name is Ada Fitch, but on many platforms I go by Mom Questions Everything (MQE).I believe that many dystopian fiction novels parallel real life in figurative or proverbial ways:
Like we live in an information matrix; there is a proverbial hunger games going on in the political arena; and it seems like they are always trying to use propaganda, shaming, and even threats to polarize people and divide them into factions. I could parallel so many other dystopias.
It bother's me, however, how many liberal ideals are more prevalent in most dystopian literature; though I don't consider myself Liberal, Conservative, or Libertarian. I am a Voluntaryist.
Hey everyone! my name is Rafia and I'm in hopes of finding new friends n' stuff !! I'm supppperrrrr active on Goodreads but trying to be more active in groups, haha. I actually loved reading in elementary, feel out of the habit going into middle school, and got back into reading back in September of 2019 (joined goodreads late Oct 2019); I'm 15, a Hufflepuff, enfp-t, and a taurus :)) I love spending time watching movies/shows when I'm not reading or doing school work but I also love Youtube !! It's kind of been my support system for the past 6 years. (fav YouTubers are definitely on the gaming side; Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, Crankgameplays, Unus Annus !!)
My favorite Dystopian series are definitely The Hunger Games (it kinda broke my heart) and Uglies by Scott Westerfeld!! :)
Stephen wrote: "Hi everyoneI want to share the joy I feel now that I have finished the last edit of the rewrite, of the draft of the edit of... You get the picture ...of my novel, 'The Brotherhood of Necessity', ..."
Hi Stephen, congratulations - you obviously hooked them; that requires huge talent; you are the sort of writer readers yearn for; and they are the sort of readers who are, for all writers, a pure delight. I have a dystopian series coming out shortly. gilbertreid.com
Hi there! My name is Kasia, and I love to read and write YA dystopian novels! My favorites are The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Testing, Vox and 1984.
My first YA dystopian novel comes out tomorrow, Oct 30! It's about teenagers living in a world where everyone is born with deathdays on their wrists.
It's called The Countdown (The Deathday Chronicles, A Prequel), and I'm still looking for ARC readers who'd be willing to read and review. If this sounds like something for you, get in touch! Thanks! :)
Here's the book:

Hi Survivors! As a prepper and post-apocalyptic fiction fan, I'm happy to see how big the apocalypse community is!
I'm Ned from Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm a big fan of doomsday vehicles and survival stories!
As part of my introduction, I'd love to invite you to check out my 4th book, Apartment 905 . It's an action-packed dystopian book about the story of Matt Macain in a world that lost 80% of its population because of a deadly virus (Sounds familiar?)
Since I'm self-publishing this book, I decided to run a crowdfunding campaign to cover the costs. In return for your generosity, you will receive a printed book, audiobook, ebook, or the entire package based on your contribution level.
Crowdfunding Campaign for Apartment 905
Please feel free to reach out about what you think about the story, cover, and everything else. I'd love to hear from fellow post-apocalyptic fiction lovers! My email is nedim@nedimsahin.net
BLURB:
After a deadly virus wipes out 80 percent of the world’s population, Matt Macaine, an ordinary urban resident, must now live in a corrupt society ruled by gangs after the government’s collapse.
Unwilling to abide by new rules, Matt escapes his apartment and ventures on a cross-country trip to unite with his family. He eventually realizes the virus and gangs are not the only threats in this post-apocalyptic world.
Is it a mistake to leave the confines of his home, or is fleeing worth what he uncovers?
Crowdfunding Campaign for Apartment 905
Stay safe!
Ned
Hi guys, My name is Roger Alan Bonner. I'm a self-published writer. I'm not a member of any dystopian community, whatever that is, but these days big threats surround us, and I think they're worth examining (as Twain put it, the prospect of being hung in the morning focuses the mind wonderfully).
Hi there. I’m Paul - new to Goodreads and this group. I’m not a big fan of Facebook and I was looking for somewhere to make friends with readers of the sorts of books I like; such as dystopia, crime and thrillers (and combinations of these!). Goodreads appears to be a nice alternative community - currently finding my way round.
hello, My name is Walkiria and I'm from Brazil. My favorite genres are fiction, dystopia and fantasy. The books that got me into dystopia were 1984 and Animal Farm, also one of the reasons I joined this group was to find more marvelous dystopian books and discover this side of goodreads that enjoys this type of genre.Have a nice afternoon!
Hi, I'm Billie! I'm pretty much obsessed with dystopian fiction right now. I've read a lot of it over the years (can't remember names, honest to god I have the worst memory). I am reading The Handmaid's Tale, I feel like everyone who's joined this group has clearly read it. However, it is one of my all-time fave books so far. I love recommendations, so between that and recalling some books I have read I'm super excited about this group!
hi, I'm Niamh. I'm interested in dystopian novels, as I like to envisage how some of the Author's thoughts could well become a reality in the future. I particularly very dark dystopian novels, so any recommendations for this would be great.
I am a nominee for Georgia Author Of The year for my 2021 novel, World Of Rage. Started a year before anyone heard of COVID it’s about a virus killing virtually everyone on earth with two small groups of survivors in the US and UK trying to go on living and turn the earth around. I’d be honored for you to try it.https://www.amazon.com/World-Rage-Sha...
Hello all! I'm Flora, and I'm from a small town in Missouri. I love reading all genre but dystopia is a particular favorite. I'm always looking for recommendations.
Hi, I'm Rory Surtain, a novelist in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre. Everything I write seems to end up with a strong dystopian bent, so I figured this was a great group to join and see what others are diving into. Cheers!
Hi I'm rees i read all different varieties of books and when i'm not reading i would spend time with my family 👨👩👧 friends and my boyfriend and go bowling or listen to music on my tv
Hiii!!! I'm River (my social media name), and I've been a bookworm since I was very young. Recently, I have been reading soooo many dystopian books. I am an artist (particularly sketching book characters all. the. time!) and a musician who has dabbled in many different musical instruments.I decided to join this group because, well, I don't have many friends that I can physically talk to about books, and I needed some outlet for my dystopia freakouts.
River,I'm always looking for Beta readers. Would you be interested in an early look at a crazed, dystopian sci-fi/fantasy novel called PSYKER?
If so, I will throw you a link to a bookfunnel page where you can download the pre-released version.
Regards,
Rory Surtain
I don't know how I missed this thread before, but I'm a self published author of what I would call "speculative fiction" as opposed to dystopian, although I guess it would qualify as that too. Wish we hadn't put in the year, especially since Covid, as this involved a virus as well. Here's a description:In 2018, the world is plagued by extreme climate change and increasing natural disasters. A bizarre illness is also weaving its way throughout small towns and big cities alike; its victims marked by insanity, violence, murder, and suicide. Against this grim backdrop, a resilient group of like-minded individuals retreats to a 20 acre off-the-grid compound. Armed with tools, knowledge, skills, and a desire for community, they attempt to survive isolation and a bitter Montana winter in a world that has gone mad.

Hi I’m Wanda, I’m published author. (Not here to advertise) but I enjoy reading what others read to then go read it myself.
Hi, I am new to the group. I am a huge fan of Fantasy, Apocalyptic and Dystopian books. Recently a fan of a good thrilled that is mixed in with those genres. What books would you recommend?
Hi! I'm Jannelies, from the Netherlands. I'm happy to have found this group. I shelved some books as 'dystopian' already but I would really like to read more.

- The anomaly – Hervé le Tellier
- Future Shop – Gideon Burrows

- The trees – Ali Shaw
- INCH – Kenneth James Allen

Hi My name is Hamim. I am French. I enjoy reading dystopian stories and imagine what our future could be.
Hi everyone, I'm Ryan. My preferred genres are horror, sci-fi, mystery, thriller, and, of course, dystopia. Add some psychological elements to those and I'm all about it! I do read other genres occasionally, but they're my favourites.
I like to write a bit myself and would love to have something published one day. (I can dream lol.)
I've been on goodreads about a year, but I haven't got very far into the social side of things, so I'm just hopping into some groups in hopes of making some friends to discuss books with, get some recommendations, etc.
Cheers!
Hello, hello. I live in Florida with my husband and grumpy old cat Shakespeare, who is going on 19. Shakespeare is my muse; the cat not the dead guy.I love to dance and I'm a Zumbaholic.
Under the name B. G. Austin I write Dystopian. I am working on a new series named Garbage. The title does not come from the writing, Ha! I've been writing for a long time and, also, publish under B. Austin. My books are really well written. The title comes from a social class in the future when earth is ruled by an emperor.
I'm happy to have joined the group.
B.G. Austin
Hi I’m Al :) dystopian fiction is my favourite genre, currently reading ‘The Female Man’ by Joanna Russ. Favourite dystopian novel is probably 1984 (of course).
Hello, I am Gab, I love dystopian fiction in all its forms. Hope this group is still going, not too sure. If it is, look forward to discussing dystopia
Hi I’m poppy I’m obsessed with the legend trilogy by Marie Lu and have read all of it 3 times even though I finished it for the first time just over a month ago
A tip for people who are looking for life after legend 1 and 2 go on Marie lu’s instagram and scroll through her story highlights until you find one titled life after legend, there you can read Day’s point of view for both books!
Hi, I'm Morgan! (Aka the bookworm)I love sci-fi, fantasy, and dystopian books. if y'all have any recommendations, I'm open to hearing them!
Dana wrote: "You might try my dystopian series SCAVENGER. See it and read samples on Amazon."ok, thanks!
Another Dystopian reader/writer who enjoys the Dystopian genre because I like to contemplate what the world would be like if our current society has broken down or evolved into something different. Stretches the mind!
Greetings All!I'm Richard from Ontario, Canada. I've always been and avid fan of the horror genre. My fav sub-genre would be zombies just because they look gross and always freaked me out as a kid. The apocalyptic nature also always weirded me out (thinking that everything you always knew is now gone and will never be again - how do you reconcile that in your mind?). My least fav would probably be vampires since they seem to well-groomed and less disgusting. Perhaps I'm a fan of gore, then? Body horror (to some degree - don't really appreciate excessive gore either). Sometimes I'm in the mood for less intense horror, other times more intense but really need to be in the mood for it.
I'm also a Goodreads author and have released in the horror / zombie genres. I've gathered inspiration for my books from a variety of sources like TV shows (hello, Walking Dead), movies (George Romero is brilliant), and, of course, other brilliant authors like Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Paul Trembley, T Kingfisher. It's always fascinating to discover a new author and explore their unique writing styles.
