Yup - I love dystopia though, write my own D series now. I'm gonna be releasing some stuff later this year, too.

Welcome Becca :)
Welcome Becca :)

I'm currently reading Sarah Pinborough's The Death House, and I've just released my debut novella which is, unsurprisingly, a dystopian thriller.
Pleased to meet you all!

Go Dad!!!
Go Dad!!!

Go Dad!!!"
Absolutely! At the time, I didn't realise, but now I know how cool my dad is!

I wrote a novel in "stream of voice" with a dystopian vision of the USA in 2020 (The Year of Clear Vision), which is becoming eerily true:

It is also a stage play seeking a producer:

A finder's commission is available.

2007 ??? Gotta come up with a better price ... Sounds like an interesting book though ...

I look forward to all the new recommendations!
I hope you all have a great day!

Hi Kenny! Just been nosing around your website and the premise for your series sounds really great.
Follow the link to my profile here. I think we probably have a lot in common!

I actually sort of stumbled across this group looking for something else, but I'm a pretty big fan of dystopian stories, so I thought I'd pop in.
Faves:
Anthem
1984
Others I enjoyed:
Hunger Games
Brave New World
A Handmaid's Tale
Fahrenheit 451
Genesis of Shannara (fantasy, with dystopian twist)
Ones that were not so great:
Divergent Series (decent story, POORLY written)

Not really. Haven't had one in a long time. Do you have a suggestion?

No, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out, if so. But I'm always up for one :)

I'm reading The Time Traveler's Wife right now. It's surprisingly a LOT better than I expected. The movie trailer made it look like a complete chick flick, but it's not.
Although it technically revolves around a love story, it's really more just the mechanism used for the purpose of POV so that you have one person randomly bopping around in time with the other person traveling the normal old linear/forward route. Very well written.

I think that can happened when posting from the app. Or was he really trying to make a point of how much he wants to read it?

Thanks Ellie. I was on my iPad when I responded. I was unaware of this glitch, has anyone reported the fault?
Hi Michelle.

Welcome Steve.
That's a great question. I'd like to know myself. It always looked interesting to me, but to be honest, the few Stephen King books I read didn't impress me all that much, so I'm a bit wary.
S.J. wrote: "Stephen King's Gunslinger series? I've never read those books, but have wanted to for some time. Is it worth the effort, or does the end fall a bit flat like some of King's other big books (Stand, IT, for example)."
I would say yes. But I'm probably not the best person to answer this because I loved The Stand :) The Dark Tower series is definitely different from his other books, though -- it's more what I would call High Fantasy. Epic in scope, though it has a small "core" cast of characters. Some intriguing world-building and unusual secondary characters ranging from insane robots to wood demons. Does it fall flat? Well, people definitely have mixed feelings about the ending. I've read it twice and am still not sure I quite get it. But I'm quite sure I'll go back and read it again :)

Thank you. Since I'm not much of a King fan to begin with based on the few books I've read, this thread was enough to convince me not to invest in the Dark Tower series. Great to finally have a 'conclusion' to that question as I've thought about it for years.

Which ending are you thinking of, the original or the expanded edition? I much preferred the original ending. The expanded edition felt...I don't know, cartoony?
