message 102: by T.C. (new)

T.C. Slonaker | 566 comments No, Caro, there aren't. And the scientists will never find them. Still, they keep looking...

Okay, so today I came across something quite interesting. I was reading a book about Genesis for Literature and this is what I found. To quote:

"The seven days of creation were the same length as our days. Some have speculated that each day could have lasted 1,000 years" (since a thousand years is as a day to God), "but that is not likely, since plant life on the third day could not have survived waiting for sunlight to come on the fourth day. Also, Adam, who was created on the sixth day, lived to be 930 years old, which meant he would have died before God's day of rest began."

I know some of you believe in both creationism and evolution, but here's something simple to think about. :)

oooh!

and also you have to trace the Greek word that they used for Day which im pretty sure historically meant a 24 hour day

message 125: by [deleted user] (new)

Great point! :)

I think the phrase "a thousand years is like one day" is just to demonstrate how timeless God is.

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Just think about what a vapour time is, in comparison to ETERNITY!

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

Ikr! I can't wait until that day when all our sorrows will be no more.

That's correct too. (Of course, you see where I stand on this matter.)

For sure :)

Cant wrap even a bit of my mind around eternity. It's something I'm half terrified of but its probably partly from ignorance

message 132: by Andie (new)

Andie Last year my sister and I were taking a college advanced biology class offered at our high school (we're twins, so we're in a lot of the same classes). There was this one project we had to do and we all partnered up and had to discuss the evolution of a certain part of the body. My sister and I immediately partnered up because we knew we were basically the only people in the class who were Christians. We didn't really know how to handle the situation, but we finally decided to present the project like we were supposed to, but we prefaced it by inserting a special slide and saying how evolution was only a theory and that is what some people believe. The great thing that happened though, is that our teacher was kind of an airhead and he forgot to have us present and gave us an automatic 100% on the project. :)

message 134: by brooke1994 (new)

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) There's good and bad in everything, including science. Science can be bad if it's used for the purposes of evolution or trying to disprove God's existence, however, it can be good if it's on the study of God's creation to honor God. There are plenty of Christian scientists out there but the media rarely tells us about them.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 2 comments I once heard it put this way: Science helps answer the: "how?", and God answers the: "Why?"
