Well, I guess I may as well continueI'm Zoe and I have a few questions with regards to the origins to The Plotting Princess group itself.
Liese, I assume the group you have courteously invited us to on GoodReads is only the GoodReads members for the moment and not including the other authors with whom you collaborate and meet? That being said, I was wondering if your group - The Plotting Princesses have ever successfully completed a novel together as a fruitful result of your meetings in Texas. If so, might I ask what that experience was like to work with other authors in this way and how the final result came to be, finally and most importantly - the name of the novel that you had written?

All the Plotting Princesses are-or will be-part of this discussion group. We are all inviting our friends to join.
The Princesses all know each other from another writing group and I wasn't at its inception, but my understanding is that they first got together to help each other plot books and as time went on, the group grew and started its own blog/website (http://plottingprincesses.blogspot.com/) and continues to grow in various ways.
But at its heart, the group is there to help each other with their books. We don't write stories together--just brainstorm withe each other for those working on a new book or unable to overcome a sticking point in one plot. These can become pretty wild as the ideas start to flow.
Maybe one of the other princesses can share something from one of our brainstorming sessions?
Hiya Zoe and all! I'm one of the Princesses. Our group brainstorms together but we each write our books separately.
We also support one another emotionally and as a writing collective - which is very cool.
I have collaborated on a novel with a close friend. In fact, my latest release, Diary of A Teenage Fairy Godmother is a collaboration.
Collaborating isn't an endeavor to be taken on lightly. Our friendship withstood the strains it places on it. But unless you try it on a smaller project and make sure you work well together creatively I wouldn't recommend it.
Division of labor in co-writing is tough.
Hi all,I have one book out and the second one, THE WOODEN CHAIR, due out this month. My third is written, but in need of editing. After I was done with the first draft, I worked on it with my critique group, which unfortunately fell apart when two members moved out of the area. Now I'm desperately looking for a critique buddy who would help me with character development and story arch. Of course, I would do the same for her.
Is there anybody here interested in this kind of exchange? That would be so great.

Hi Rayne, Liese, Zoe and Kathleen, I'm friends with Vicki Batman and was thrilled to receive the invite to join this group. One of the problems I had with my former critique groups, Rayne, is I write paranormal and historical fantasy. And, I use a lot of Jewish mythology. There was little understanding from my CPs, and one was merciless in slashing materials she didn't understand. I see you fell in love with 1001 Nights. My material is similar, but not identical to that. If you're interested in angels, the Queen of Sheba, King Solomon, Jinn, and other shape shifters, I'd be happy to be your CP. I also write contemporary.

I have deadlines at the moment and I can't fit in another critique partner, but would love to read one of your books.

Hi Sharon,When I read that you write Jewish mythology, my heart gave a jolt of joy. I'm Jewish, know some of the mythology and our traditions. My soon to be published THE WOODEN CHAIR has allusions to Jewish tradition. The work I need help editing, hasn't any slant to the religion, but I think I can be of help to you.
Shall we, Sharon, take this off this thread? If you're interested, e-mail me directly. Let's try to work something out, starting by giving each other a short synopsis. How's that?

Hi Kathleen--My most recent release, Obsession, has a nice dose of Jewish mythology and a couple of very cool angels. It's on Amazon in Kindle, will be in print in August. I'm trying to find a way onto the reading lists of people who enjoy angels, but am ignorant about how to find them. Any tips welcome!
My WIP is called KISS OF THE VIRGIN QUEEN and it's about the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon and the impact of there epic romance on their descendant, Homeland Security Special Agent, Eliana Solomon, Jinni Hunter. That's the one Rayne will be (I hope) helping me with as a CP.

When I got the invite to Plotting Princess, I jumped right in without further ado. I was remiss in not thanking for the invite, so my apologies and thanks. I appreciate being included and hope I can contribute to the group in a small measure.Some progress, Sharon and I are hitting it off very well. I'm delighted to have found her.
More progress: I'm working on the galley proofs to my literary fiction THE WOODEN CHAIR, which should be out end of this month. It's all very exciting (Big Smile!)

LOL. Next a commercial with you and Sharon reading books, looking up and saying, "If it hadn't been for Plotting Princesses, we never would have met" You smile at each other as the camera fades. Thanks for the welcome.
What fun. It may happen yet when we both follow the filming of our books. Hah! And wouldn't that be something to strive for?
Sharon and others, what's your position on filters in writing? You know words like "felt," "saw," "heard" and such? I hate them, but find that quite a few have escaped into the galley proofs.Rayne
I must confess. They slip in once in a while when I'm writing.
Carole, yes, they do, and that's all right. It's like chocolate; a little bit at a time is satisfying, too much at once will make your tummy ache. It's the "too much" I'm after.
I'm guilty of missing those filter words at times. Autocrit finds them, as does a good crit partner! :)

Autocrit.com is a program that will check your work for common writing issues. I like it a lot.

Hi, Zoe: I invited girls from our writing organization over to my house for some fun and we haven't stopped. We totally support each other and the brainstorming usually has us in stitches from laughing so hard.

Hi, Rayne!!! I love wordcounter.com. Cut and paste into their program and it spits out overused words. Then use the search and replace feature to use your fresher writing. It really does help! (and thanks to Ms. Lipperman for introducing me!)

Hi, everyone! I'm Melissa. I wasn't invited by anyone, but the talk about CPs has me nosing my way in. :) Anyone interested in Paranormal Romance? I would love a CP to talk books and to verbally flick me on the ear when my writing takes a nosedive. I'm very guilty of "saw" and "felt", but think I do a fairly decent job at curbing "was" usage.

I'm Liese Sherwood-Fabre and have one novel and several smaller works out. I live in Texas, but spent time in other countries. I've been a member of the Plotting Princesses for a while and they are a great group with some amazing books out.
