Will there be a second movie?

I heard that the movie made 20 million on a 40 million budget.Because of this will there not be a second one?

i think that the 2nd book has to be written before they can truly consider the 2nd movie right? since we haven't gotten the seeker out on bookshelves yet, and i'm under the impression that it's not even finished yet, ithink that we've got time to decide if that's going to happen or not.

to be honest though, i wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a #2. The host was great - but it wasn't AS amazing as Twilight or HG

Well, im not surprised they didnt make much, because down here in Tassie (Australia) I only saw 5 sesssions of the movie ever show! I wanted to watch it but i never got the chance because all the sessions were late at night on school nights

Yeah,they said that open roads invested on the movie so much that that they couldn't show the movie in a lot of other places beside the us.

I definatley agree, Stephanie Meyer needs to write a sequal to The Host so they can get started on a second movie, I believe that making a second movie would be awesome, I'm pretty sure they would make loads of money off it too.

I don't think there would be a second film because there were a lot of bad reviews. The twilight series had that too but at least most of the fandom itself loved the films which isn't really the case with the host.

It isn't a bad film, but it's kind of a disappointing one.

If they do make a second, it needs to be heaps better than the first.

You can not squeeze a 600 page book into less than two hours. The movie did not contain any of the emotion, feeling and sense of desperation that the book had. Too many things were missed or merely skimmed over. I thought the movie had potential, but it was too short.

It's pretty unlikely there will be another movie, because the first one did so poorly at the box office. It would have to do really well on home video, which I suppose, is a possibility.

I haven't seen it yet, but I look forward to it. The Host was a great book, can't wait for that sequel either.

Don't have too high expectations or you'll be disappointed. Some big changes, lots of things missed and it felt like the entire story took only a week or so in the movie, whereas in the book it was over a period of months that the story took place. It was way too rushed.

I enjoyed it, but just wish they'd made it a 3 hour movie or split it in two so they could really do it justice.

Gee, thanks for the info. Just so you know, I didn't think that this book or movie was directed solely at Teens. Im pretty sure though, that most of the audience watching it could have handled a slightly longer movie.

I heard that Stephanie might be writing a 2nd book soon, but I also heard from an interview that Jake Abel (Ian in the movie) suspects shes already wrote it and its in ending. All just specultion so far, but honestly I don't want a 2nd book/movie, the first one had an amazing storyline, so much detail and a great ending, so if they make another one, it would be redundant and wont have much to go on with.

..Then again its Stephanie Meyers, so you never know.
