Hey everyone! Just thought I would throw this thread out there to get some suggestions of themes people would like for upcoming History Group Reads. What do you want to read about? Let us know in this thread!

I'm becoming more interested in the War of the Roses time period now. I've about worn myself out on the Tudors. Lol.
How about Shadow of the Wind -- The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It's set in Barcelona after the Spanish Civil War and it involves a mysterious book. Or, The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon by Richard Zimler - Inquisition-time Lisbon comes alive.
I hope these meet the nominating criteria. I have not availability of either; but I did see that The Last Kabbalist is available from Amazon for $5.75 (US). And, I know the Shadow of the Wind is widely available. (The prequel to Shadow is coming soon.) If not, that's okay. I will just think of others.

I loved both The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon and The Shadow of the Wind and don't mind a re-read of either but I am not sure if this is a fiction thread.
Thanks for all the suggestions! We do read both fiction and non-fiction, but I'm using this thread to brain storm and get theme ideas. If you have a book or two you would really like to read, you can list it here and I can use it to develop a theme at some point (I'm not making a voting poll or anything out of this particular thread though, so it may be awhile til the theme pops up that supports your book, and then you'll have to make sure to nominate the book at that time).
We have quite a few suggestions here, so I'm mostly adding this comment so it pops up on the group's main page so I keep it in mind. Certainly feel free to add to the list though!

COAL BLACK HORSE and
ENEMY WOMEN (by Paulette Jiles).
Sorry, I forget the author of the first.
And — of course I have to say it! — my own "The Many Lives & Secret Sorrows of Josephine B." for the French Revolution.

Thanks for the suggestions!Sandra, your Josephine book has probably been nominated here more than any other book and it always seems to come in a close second when we vote for some crazy reason! It's like the Susan Lucci of this group. :) Hee, welcome out of the shadows!

Sandra, I have had the Josephine books on deck for a while. If it doesn't get selected, I would be happy to read them with you!
