I only got to see one episode since it rivals the time slot for Elementary which seems to be a household favorite. I don't like the lack of charisma that is portrayed for the character of Hannibal. Most Psychopaths are very charismatic. In the movies he had more personality than in the show. I hope to be able to sneak more episodes to really get the feel for it and all of its characters. Since I have only seen one episode I could be off base.
My first time through, I didn't find it all that engaging -- but I sat down and rewatched the entire first season last weekend and loved it. It's a bit too bloody for me to recommend to my friends but the psychological elements, symbolism, and character twists are great. Mads does a really good job with Hannibal -- it ranges from intentionally mimicking his costars (Hannibal trying to blend in more?) to having the smallest of expressions. Great stuff.

Are snippets that go in and out of the book. I can't wait for it to start

I like the series. The ending of season 2 was unexpected. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with Will.
The first few episodes I wasn't too sure, but I kept watching, and now I can't wait till it starts back up! Hannibal is a little boring, love Will's character, and "eh" on the rest. Still undecided on the other characters. Their acting needs work I think.
I love it. dark, gory and everything lector says is profound it seems.
I was thrown the first episode but each show after that got better and better. a must watch for sure

At first, I loved it. The images are sublime (in a gloomy way). But the more I watched it, the more I got bored. Too repetitive. That's sad because I love Mads.
By itself it's a great series, very interesting and entertaining.
The fact that it's nothing like the book, for once, doesn't bother me. Hannibal is too nice, too tall, too unusual looking, not cryptic enough and too helpful with too strong an accent. Will is too crazy and too dependent on other characters.
This would normally turn me off but I like the series, I just ignore the fact that it's supposed to be Hannibal Lecter.

Loved every bit of it, Mads Mikkelsen does a fantastic job as Hannibal, a cold, manipulating character, yet full of sophisticated charm. The relationship between him and Will is almost touching, yet Hannibal will always be in control. Hoping Series 2 can match up to the first one.
Watched the whole show and I absolutely loved it! Dancy's and Mikkelsen's acting is great and I enjoyed the plot that was so very different from the book. The psychological elements are really good, the way Hannibal manipulates Will and the subtlety of some things.
I really can't wait to see what's going to happen next season, already rewatched the whole season.

Personally, I love it. It's a very interesting way they're doing it and it's very well done how it doesn't completely focus on Hannibal in the beginning and slowly focuses on him as the series goes on. The gore could be done without at times, but it's not as terrible as I thought it was going to be after hearing about it when they were planning on making it. It's artistically done and it doesn't ruin the books that I've gotten into throughout the years.
Only watched two episodes - undecided but I do like the look of Mads Mikkelson - powerful with menace.

....'No one could replicate Hopkins performance'....
Though Brian Cox in Manhunter, in my opinion, far exceeded Hopkins 'hammy' performance.

Try Hulu. I'm only a couple episodes in, but I'm enjoying it...the show serves as a prequel to the first novel, Red Dragon. Mads Mikkelson is certainly taking the character in a different direction, but this is necessary or else everyone would compare him unfavorably to Hopkins. No one could replicate Hopkins' performance; unless I'm mistaken he holds the record for the least screentime to win an Oscar for his 15 minutes as Hannibal Lector in The Silence Of The Lambs.
