Are you kidding DC? Cause I know how you enjoy pulling someone's leg. Well, if you did get it you need to share the wealth or did you sign a contract saying you wouldn't?

Due to flooding in my area I was sent home early from work yesterday and able to make great progress with Innocence. I can really relate to the main characters because (view spoiler) I'm really enjoying the story so far - about half way through :-)

      A NOTE FROM DEAN KOONTZ:
Dear Readers,
I hope that you had an exciting summer, although I hope it was nice exciting. I hope it wasn't the kind of exciting like when you go for a hike and run into Bigfoot and he chews off one of your arms and then complains that it isn't spicy enough and beats you on the head with it. And the Medevac helicopter rushing you to a hospital crashes into a circus, and the only undamaged circus vehicle that can take you the rest of the way is a clown car, and the surgeon standing by to reattach your arm is terrified of clowns and has a breakdown, so there's no one to reattach your arm except the clown, who always wanted to be a doctor, and now you wave bye-bye from your butt.
Or like when you go to the amusement park and the roller coaster gets stuck at the top of the highest point of the track and the woman in the seat immediately in front of yours goes into labor and you have to deliver the child. And it gets complicated because the woman, somewhat delirious, mistakes you for Tom Bergeron and—instead of pushing when she needs to push—keeps insisting you should have Homer Simpson on Dancing with the Stars, and of course the delivery is further complicated because you have one arm where it ought to be and the other one attached to your butt.
Or like you connect with someone through an on-line dating service, and she or he is everything you've ever dreamed about, but then in your first intimate moment together, you discover that she or he wants nothing from you except your severed head to keep in her or his refrigerator. Or like you go to the movies, and one right after another you see THE LONE RANGER, AFTER EARTH, PACIFIC RIM, ELYSIUM, and a re-release of JOHN CARTER. Autumn is a beautiful season.

My summer was nice, thank you. Anna, my golden retriever, took me to the dog park, where she rents a space for her Camaro, and then she drove me up the coast to a lovely restaurant where dogs are welcome on the patio, but because I was wearing a tanktop and sandals instead of shoes, I had to eat alone in the car. At the very end of summer, I finished a new novel, which will be published in 2014. But I'll be hammering you relentlessly about that closer to publication date. Meanwhile, INNOCENCE lands in stores on December 10, and right now it's one of my three favorites of my own books, which in the interests of promotion I would probably say even if it wasn't true, but it is true.
Bye-bye,
Dean

FYI: It was announced today that there is a ebook novella called Wilderness which will be a lead-up to Innocence similar to how Darkness Under the Sun led up to What the Night Knows and The Moonlit Mind for 77 Shadow Street.

Praise for Innocence, which will be released on December 10th:
"Laced with fantastical mysticism, it's an allegory of nonviolence, acceptance and love in the face of adversity. . .The narrative is intense, with an old-fashioned ominousness and artistically crafted. . .with an optimistic and unexpected conclusion. . . Something different this way comes from Mr. Koontz's imagination. Enjoy."-Kirkus

"Imaginative, mystical thriller. . .most satyisfying Koontz standalone in a while."-Publishers Weekly
"As speedy a chase-thriller as any Koontz, a past master of the form, has ever constructed. . .the clamor for a new Koontz will be heard. . .especially when his fans hear how good this one is."-Booklist, Starred Review

I feel so incredibly bummed for missing out on the giveaway.
But excited for those that received a copy!

Did you appreciate the religious element in Deeply Odd? Because if you did then you might appreciate what Dean does with Innocence.

Wilderness is on my kindle this morning. It looks like it is a short read. Probably read it tonight. I always look forward to a new Dean Koontz work.

I have taken a short break from Innocence to read Wilderness because...well because I think your supposed to read it first.

Both innocents and wilderness are definitely worth it! I've read both, and I'm still rereading my favorite parts. If you like books like this we definitely need to talk. I'm telling all my friends to avoid spoilers, when reading Innocence, and I want somebody to talk about Addison with!

Well Kimberly I am reading Wilderness now and then I am going to finish Innocence. I am at chapter 22 of Innocence but stopped to read Wilderness. I am really liking Addison right now but I don't know him very well yet. I am only where (view spoiler) That is as far as I have gotten. I like to read Koontz slow so I can savor every word but I will try to speed it up so you will have someone to talk to.

Finished Wilderness and looking forward to Innocence. I enjoyed the short story. It was a little tease of what is to come. I am curious about Addison and his story. I guess I will find out in about a month.

For those who have read Wilderness - should the novella get it's own discussion thread or is it better discussed in this thread with Innocence? The other ebook novellas have their own threads but I don't know how much attention they get since they are in the short story folder:

I view it as a introduction to Addison and tells a little about his upbringing.

      How many pages is Wilderness?
I don't really do ebooks but I might make an exception in this case :-)

It is only 30 pages. It took about a half hour to read.

30 pages! wow! you know, I might just be able to do this. I think I can! :-) Thanks for the encouragement.

I would like that. I have enjoyed The Moonlit Mind better than 77SS, Darkness Under the Sun More than What the Night Knows and it looks like this time will follow that tradition :-) I look forward to reading Wilderness.

Haven't finished with Innocence yet because I read them really slow but Wilderness is really good. Did you read it DC?

Wilderness is wonderful but very short, needs to be discussed with Innocence. It's actually like a chapter excised from the book. I always find myself wishing, when I come upon an intriguing piece of the story in a chapter, that he could expand it into a story of its own. I love it that Dean is starting to do that.

Thanks for the info Hdz Ana :-) I am kinda old school so I don't know anything about what is offered on itunes.

I just read Wilderness. Awesome. And very creepy. Usually his books are great but they don't necessarily scare me or creep me out like "The Taking" did. But there were a few times that the story made me feel very uncomfortable in a good way. I loved it. Can't wait for innocence.

I've been so busy trying to get my own book out that I have done like no reading in the last month+ (Thanksgiving and 'family togetherness didn't help any either ;) ) But I downloaded Wilderness and plan to read that this weekend. Not enough hours in the day. I need a clone who can just sit around and read all day.

Read Whispers and/or Mr. Murder - they might give you some ideas :-)

I have. It's been quite a while though. I recall enjoying both though for the life of me I can't recall what either was about now. Was Mr. Murder along the lines of King's Dark Half?
