1) I've always wanted to be royalty and
2) Nope. It just gives me an excuse to color code and make spreadsheets. I live for this stuff. If you ever want to feel really sane in comparison to someone else, I'll PM you WBY's challenge spreadsheets.
Worse than mine? I got a Google box the other day that I was reaching my capacity on the Team Assignments Spreadsheet. Rebecca told me to cut the pics, etc. Can't do it! LOL!
Great, cupcake Captain Zara! Only two more to go.
Do you think there are two more Captains on-line now?

Moderators of Nothing but Reading Challenges wrote: "You Captains aren't overwhelmed by all the challenge information?"Nope. It's all worked out. Just counting down the days :)
And let's not talk about spreadsheets. I think I've created a monster, LOL!
~ How You Can Use Your Cupcakes -
• There will be more opportunities to get cupcakes though-out the year.
• For the 7% Solution Challenge, seven cupcakes

= can replaceany book needed in any of the categories. If you use 7 cupcakes to replace one book,
then you only need to read 48 more books as a Team.
• Captains, when you submit your finished category, just indicate you are using seven of
your cupcakes by posting "Seven
" in the appropriate spot. Are you ready for more? Because I don't want to overwhelm you, but there is more good news. Take a deep, cleansing breath; let it out; clear your brain.• If you look at the Cupcakes from LK Spreadsheet, you will see some of the puzzles
columns have Team Members’ names in their color-coded columns.
• For these color-coded columns, you may look at that member's bookshelves and
choose any book they have read this year (since January 1st) that fits in the
7% Solution Challenge where you need it - and you will only have to use six cupcakes
to do so (not seven).
• Yes, that was any book, regardless of bookshelf, regardless of page count, as long as
it otherwise fits the challenge criteria.
• Yes, that is irregardless of whether they were in Round I or not.
• For some color-coded columns there is more than one name there. That does NOT
give you another cupcake; it just gives you more options, instead.
• Does this special cupcake’s mystical powers include using them for Category #5
- BOM or "buddy reads" the person participated in earlier this year, you ask? Yes!
• Captains, when you submit a finished category, this time you should use a special cupcake.
This blinkie one
Please also indicate which puzzle number and the date they read the book.
EXAMPLE OF A SUBMITTED CATEGORY - Just an example. You do NOT have to do it this way exactly. Just be clear.
Category #6 - May’s R-a-T Mini Challenges: - Atomic Tangerine
1)
Flower cover - The Texan's Touch, ShoSho June 10.2)
Letter "Y" title - Yours to Keep, Susan June 11.3)
Landmark cover/pyramid sphinx - Death on Tour, Robin June 15.4)
- Letter "A" author Amanda Stevens - Robin, June 16. 5)
Letter "R" author - Robin Sloan - Kme_17 June 16.6) Seven

7)
Green cover: The New Recruit: Episode 1 - Six Please note, Claire’s book for 7) only has 48 pages and it is still acceptable.

I think I understand. But it's more about - yay, we only have to read 47 books.
Oh wait, we have 28 cupcakes so they could be used for up to 4 books using 7 cupcakes. Or at least 3 if we mix and match 6 or 7 cupcakes, right?
I'm still trying to get my head around the instructions. Sorry I'm a bit slow on picking things like this up. *wonders off with a very confused look on her face*
Rebecca wrote: "Oh wait, we have 28 cupcakes so they could be used for up to 4 books using 7 cupcakes. Or at least 3 if we mix and match 6 or 7 cupcakes, right? "Correct!
That is great news! And well worth the time I ran out of work to get my laptop so I could work past a blocked site on the work computer! Yay!!
Zara wrote: "I'm still trying to get my head around the instructions. Sorry I'm a bit slow on picking things like this up. *wonders off with a very confused look on her face*"Do you understand the first part, Zara?
I think we'll be ok, but now I'm regretting all the puzzles I did but was too lazy to upload screenies! lol
Lisa Kay wrote: "The cupcakes might go up or down in value. You know how the market is these days. ☺"Or how fast they are consumed? (Sorry, it's late and I couldn't resist!)

Q#1. - "My Team has 28 cupcakes. I can replace a book in any category with one of them. That's four books! So, you’re saying I only have to read three more books to finish a category?
A#1. Yes.
Q2. "And these special, magically blinkie cupcakes, do I have to have six of them? Or rather, six members names?"
A2. No. You do NOT have to have six members names in the color-coded columns. Those are the member's on your Team - not anyone else's - that you are allowed to look at their shelves and choose a book that fits in the category you're trying to complete. You are not restricted to "since April 12th," nor are you restricted by page number.Plus, you save a cupcake for later, since it only counts as subtracting six from your total cupcakes.
Q3. "For these special, magically blinkie cupcakes, can you use a team member only as many times as they are listed on a puzzle?"
A3. Yes. You catch on quick.
I say keep the puzzles and cupcakes coming. Just want to clarify though, the captains are looking at their own team members' lists when using the Six
option, not someone from another team?EDIT - Sorry just needed to refresh page while I was typing and could see my answer is there. That will give my team lots of options, I have read 142 books so far this year and I am on almost every puzzle that has a name attached for my team.
New question, can you use a team member only as many times as they are listed on a puzzle?

Q3. "For these special, magically blinkie cupcakes, can you use a team member only as many times as they are listed on a puzzle?"
A3. Yes. You catch on quick.
Another question:If a puzzle has more than one person listed, can you use more than one person to substitute a book, or can you only use each puzzle once in a substitute.
For example, if both Tea and I are listed on puzzle 8, and only me on puzzle 12, can we do this:
1. book read
2. book read
3. substitute with book from Tea, puzzle 8
4. book read
5. book read
6. substitute with book from Turtlecollector, puzzle 8
7. book read
Or does it have to be like this:
1. book read
2. book read
3. book read
4. substitute book from Tea, puzzle 8
5. substitute book from Turtlecollector, puzzle 12
6. book read
7. book read
this is just confusing! i vote we do not use our cupcakes and just have fun beating everyone by reading all books! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHand awwww :( oh well no puzzle 28 for us! there shall be moar puzzles!
The first example is correct, T. If you only used yours, your name will only have a check-mark put next to it when it is use, leaving Tea's still there NOT check-marked.
Eni wrote: "this is just confusing! i vote we do not use our cupcakes and just have fun beating everyone by reading all books! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHand awwww :( oh well no puzzle 28 for us! there shall be moar puzz..."
I do not think my team will need to use any of our cupcakes, Hobbits are great readers.
*tongue in cheek* I am just trying to be nice and help to keep the competition friendly by setting up nice examples to help our competition keep up with us;)
