Karen (kareneth) | 2 comments It's a children's book for girls/young adults that I read when I was about 12.

I remember it was about a girl in the 1660s England (I assume, it was during the time of the bubonic plague, aka black death.) living in the woods. I know she made a living picking up herbs and making polutices, etc. She used to sketch the herbs she found in a notebook she had.

At some point or another she becomes the nurse to royalty, maybe a princess? At this time, people are getting the "black death" and changing personalities but the heroine keeps them at bay with her herbs. She also keeps the princess (?) safe and also because she trusts her.

I thought the title was short, like "Black magic" or "Black death" but all the search results I find don't seem to match it. Help!
