Anna 335 So first let me begin on saying that I truly disliked Shiver. I have never hated a book as much as I hated this one. I hated it so much that I couldn't even finnish it because I hated how mushy gushy it was. I wanted to barf! No offense to the fans of this series.

Anywho my friend has recommended me to read Lament and I am extremely hesitant on reading this because the of the author. So I wanted to ask all the people who have read both Lament and Shiver if they are anything alike. I know Lament is about the Fey and Shiver is about werewolves, but is Lament filled with romance like Shiver?

EmilyRose I've read both books. I enjoyed reading Shiver but the other two books in the series were awful.
Lament is a completely different story. There is romance in it but not as much as there was in shiver. I thought Lament was ok, but I enjoyed reading the second book Ballad a lot more. Hope this helps.

Anna 335 Thank you so much this helps a lot!

Asha I have read both series. I think I enjoyed the shiver series much more because I love romance (though I admit it was a bit over the top in shiver) I don't think I like lament and ballad as much because it is a bit more scary and I am a massive scaredy cat. I think you should definitely give the lament series a try; it is a completely different everything.

Marlene Ocampo Lament is a very cool book with homicidal faeries in it. I liked it quite a bit, but the second book, Ballad, is definitely my favorite. Maggie Stiefvater is excellent in the realm of mythology, so Lament and Ballad are worth checking out.

I also recommend The Scorpio Races, which is my favorite Maggie book. The writing, atmosphere, characters and premise are absolutely gorgeous, and it isn't gushy at all. :)

They are slightly similar but I think there significantly is less sappy stuff in LAMENT
