R.A. White (rawhite) | 288 comments I'm trying to choose a title for a book that's coming out some day. Which, if any, of these titles would catch your attention? I need feedback from real, live fantasy readers! Thanks!

The Magician Thief
The Red Shell
Magician Hunters
Kings of the Red Shell
To Find a Thief

Gianluca (gianlucag) Hmm, either Kings of the Red Shell or To Find a Thief .

Let me cast a second vote for Kings of the Red Shell. It sounds intriguing.

Nyssa | 134 comments Sorry about the double post. I'm on my phone.

Based purely on title, both The Magician Thief and Magician Hunters caught my eye, and sound like YA Fantasy novels or a series.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) Magician Thief would catch my eye.

Chris Haught (haughtc) Colleen wrote: "Magician Thief would catch my eye."

I disagree, as there has been a flood of "The ___ Thief" books on the market lately. I think it might get lost in the shuffle.

Aside from that, it's a good enough title.

John | 8 comments I would go with Magician Hunters, except that I would tweak it to Mage Hunters.

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 131 comments I like The Red Shell. :)

R.A. White (rawhite) | 288 comments Thank you, Chris, John, and L.Y. Chris, good point about the popular titles. Being similar to something popular could end up being good or bad, I guess, depending upon how people take it.

I guess I should a coveted that it would catch my eye more than the others, most of which I would gloss over entirely.

I like Mage Hunters, tho. Definitely rings better than Magician Hunters.

Carly (dawnsio_ar_y_dibyn) | 192 comments What type of audience are you trying to capture? I would think that Kings of the Red Shell would attract epic fantasy/worldbuilding readers, while Mage Hunters, etc, would appeal more to urban fantasy/action readers.

Hi R.A. I deleted my original response, as it was incomplete. I accidentally sent it, while trying to fix a typo.

I immediately posted a corrected one. I hope you saw it.

Kings of the Red Shell

Thaddeus White | 50 comments Probably Kings of the Red Shell.

I appreciate your problem. My first book has a twisty-turny plot and numerous chaps end up dead so I wanted to give minimal information away in the title, which made it tricky to come up with one.

I think you're right, and thank you for pointing that out. The book is epic/world building, for sure.

Sophie (imhrien) | 433 comments Kings of the Red Shell or The Magician Thief would get a second glance.

However, I will say, that depending on wether or not the font was interesting/eye catching/professional looking, then Red Shell would work for me. The brevity, especially in the Fantasy section, would intrigue me. But as I said, font/graphics would have to fill in what the title does not.
